Medical Release Forms

Part of our Safe Sanctuary Policy involves having a medical release form on file for each student in our care. This insures our ability to provide the best medical care should an emergen-cy arise. All Sunday School students in nursery through high school should have received a medical release form in the mail. Forms are now available on our church website. Students must have a form on file with the church before they can attend any offsite events with church groups.

Fall is already here to stay. This is also a busy time for the church. Faith formation through Sunday School for both children and adults. Our children meet from 9:00 to 10:00 while our adults do have two options. One class meets at 9:00 am and the other meets at 11:15 am. Please find a way to join anyone of these classes. Please extend the invita-tion to the kids from your neigh-borhood. I will be conducting a confirmation class, which will meet on Sundays at 8:30 A.M. What is Confirmation? Thank you for asking. years ago, the first Confirmation class met in a small crowded upper room in Jerusa-lem. “And when the day of Pentecost had come…there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributed and resting on each of them. And they were all filled with the Ho-ly Spirit”. (Acts 2:1-4) Confirmation Class is one of our pathways to discipleship. We are preparing our youth to be disciples of Jesus Christ. They will be confirmed on the first Sunday of May 2022. I am sharing with you the content of what they are going to learn. There will be 4 modules. Module 1 is about “Experiencing God”. Module 2 is about “Jesus Christ: “Son of God, Savior”. Module 3 is about “The Holy Spirit and the Church”. Module 4 is about “Expressions of Faith”. There will be a spiritual retreat (Chrysalis). This is a youth version of “Walk to Emmaus”. I am inviting you to take time to pray for the children of this church and community that they would love God and would be able to invite their friends to grow together in their faith in Jesus Christ. Please pray also for our youth that they would make the right decisions. As you are praying for our youth I am inviting you to adopt one or two young persons as your mentee(s). I will be preaching a series on Spiritual Discipline during the month of October. Spiritual Discipline are ways to get closer to God and the first one will be on Prayer. I will close with the serenity prayer: “Dear God, grant me the serenity to ac-cept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at the time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Ac-cepting hardships as the path to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make things right if I surrender to His will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever and ever in the next. Amen.” From my heart to yours….. Pastor Kiboko

You are an amazing Church!! Our 151st Celebration was a blessed and thrilling “spirit” filled experience. God was always guiding us in the preparation leading up to September 12, 2021 and He was definitely among us the whole day!! We want to thank everyone who helped with all of our planned activities either by keeping us in your prayers, financially, helping with the prepara-tions, or participating in the activity. Nothing would have been accomplished without you! Especially thank the 151st committee when you see them. They were a very enthusiastic and supportive group. Bibles to Third Graders

One of the greatest joys of our Sunday School ministry is presenting Bibles to our third grade students. We will be presenting those Bibles on Sunday, October 17 during our 10:00 worship service. All third grade students on our rolls will get an invitation to come to this event. If you are a third grade student who belongs to our church and you do not get an invitation, please call the church office. Also, if you know of a third grade student who is interested in coming to our church please call the church of-fice and we’ll make sure they get an invitation to receive a Bible.

BINGO

Our youth groups will be playing Bingo with the residents at Methodist Manor on one Sat-urday every month. This is one of the communi-ty mission projects that the youth group mem-bers have chosen to do for this school year.

It is getting close to that time of year again. The CHURCH and OFFICE follow the schedule of the Storm Lake Public School

System during the week and will close when schools are not in session due to the weather. This

means when there are weather related school closings, early dismissals or late

starts, the office will be closed accordingly. Listen to KAYL 101.7 for

information. ________________

In the event that it is necessary to cancel a Worship Service or event due to

inclement weather, notice will be given on local radio stations and our church website,

as well as our Facebook page.

Church Library News

October 2021

On behalf of the church, I would like to thank the individuals that donated money as

memorials in memory of a church member, friend, family member or co-worker.

Books and materials donated will be on display on the library table All Saints Week-

end. This is especially important to me as many items were donated as memorials in

my husband’s name: Steve Tjaden.

NEW ITEMS:

Soul Anatomy by George Robertson. Pastor Robertson uses the Psalms to

help readers in how to express despair, desire, concern and hope to God

through prayers.

Within My Heart by Tamera Alexander. This fiction novel takes

place in the late 1800’s in Colorado. A widow with two young

boys tries to keep her ranch afloat. A doctor comes to the Col-

orado Rockies area bringing modern medicine. These two indi-

viduals learn to trust each other to help patients. Donated by Betty Rich-

ardson.

BOOKS ON CD:

Choosing Gratitude by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. Gratitude is very important

in a person’s life. Listen to this book as the author shares the Biblical and

practical aspects of gratitude in the midst of life’s doubt and discourage-

ments.

DVDS:

In the NAME of GOD This movie is about a young man who

becomes a member of yet another foster home. Will he be accepted and

loved and fit in this family and community?

Dear Pastor Kiboko, Church Staff and all who helped plan the 150 year celebration—

Marge and I really appreciated the invitation to attend, and even be a part of the worship service and the excellent noon dinner. Thank you so much for including us. It was great to walk through the building and remember the years we were there...to see good upkeep and many improve-ments...and to meet people of the church both remembered and new to us. God be with you Clif Ellerbeck
