Back home now (briefly) and Mike Silk has fOWld out more about the bright red Y in at Naylor Bros for res toration (mentioned in the last issuegt It is Y6551 (engine no 5C 1629Sgt I have ollocated it No II86 on the Register

J ohn Cochrane from Co Durham has been providing auch valuable i nformati on on hi s two 1952 YBs of late Ue has been restoring Y80686 for some years but has recently acquired a spares car -hlch is new t o me YB0698 (allocated No li 87 on the Register) has been lying eroWld derelic t for the last fHteen years It is LBM602 has engine number SC2I17583 and is grey in col our with a maroon interior When John ecqu1red the vehicle he found it was fitted with a heater and a rediator blind just like those described i n TCYI26 NOJ sone experts have said that there never were any home-market YEs orlgin611y fi nished 1n Silver S treak Grey an earl y metallic paint Well according to 1B0686 s log book it was grey in 1964 (6nd as tesprayed BRG in 1972 ) Sales brochures indicate that 1952 YBs could be supplied 1n grey whereas in 1953 the grey shade became Silver Streak Grey Just to confuse you further YB0696 (the neW-cllr) is presently grey but per its log book was originally white other expert s middot maintain that there never were any Old EngliSh White YSs Whete ve r Y80686 VEV228 whi ch was rescued froUl a cliff top is g010g to be finished in Silver Streak Grey to go with U s maroon interior Thanks John for an interesting puzzle
