Hopefully the end of the year celebrations reinvigorated us all for 2015, and we find time to give back to our community by volunteering for events like GKAS or Outreach Centers, as we know there is a need for free dentistry. As you may know, HCDA's Give Kids A Smile ® event is scheduled for Friday, February 13, at the Nebraska Avenue location of Tampa Family Health Center. The theme for the event is "Love Your Teeth" since it is the day before Valentine’s Day. We are grateful to Drs. Iranmanesh and Carr, who are heading this event, and to Drs. Dina Howell and Dorothy Theogene for making this great location happen. The hours will be 7 am – 5 pm, and the goal is to treat 10-15 patients per hour (making our goal 133 patients). We encourage you and your staff to volunteer for this wonderful event: morning, afternoon or both. Please remember without volunteers we can’t have this event! To volunteer, contact the HCDA office. On a different note, Dentists’ Day on the Hill is approaching, and I want to remind members how important it is to show we care and make an extra effort to participate. Please help shape our future and join colleagues in Tallahassee on Wednesday, March 25. There will be a briefing on the evening of Tuesday, March 24, at the Aloft Hotel to prepare you for your meetings the next day with legisla- tors and/or their staff. Please mark your calendars and adjust your schedule to advocate on behalf of our profession and patients. Contact FDA for details.
