Opening Sequence:

The continuous sequence at the beginning of the film introduces the company that produces this film. This particular opening makes audiences engaged, as they follow what is going on leading to what is through the door

Opening Sequence:The production company, Lionsgate is introduced, followed by colour force. However Lionsgate stands out more, due to the colour and bold font.

Opening Sequence/ Genre Conventions:Titles are used to explain the background of ‘The Hunger Games’ to allow audiences to understand the concept of the film before the action begins. The fade away transaction highlights the genre, as it creates the effect of a mystery, making audiences want to know what else happens and know the next bit of information. This editing technique also creates a tense atmosphere.

Opening Sequence/ Genre Conventions:The title is introduced very subtly, making readers engaged throughout the whole of the opening. The fade away of the information before allows audiences to... Highlighting the title of the film. Even though the title of the film is the same size and font and the rest of the information, the title still stands out and audiences are still interested in the film. This is mainly because of the use of transition creating a tense atmosphere.

The use of colours and costumes show the wealth these characters have. It shows people like them will be the dominating society

Genre Conventions/Opening sequence: The district is introduced through the setting. The setting in particular highlights the genre convection, as it shows the landscape of a forest containing no one whatsoever. This makes audience question why nothing is there and why it is blank, further highlighting the genre of adventure. Talking emphasises the difference between both sets of characters. It highlights the segregation between them, creating an intense atmosphere as audiences will want to know why this is and know more about this situation.

Genre Conventions:The use of close ups and over the should shot shows readers Katniss's little sister breaking down. This makes audiences feel sympathetic towards the characters, and grow to like them. As the opening sequence immediately shows there weakness. Through this shot we see Katniss looking after her sister, showing she is going to be the hero who helps people, which is a action, adventure convention.

The use of setting in this clip is used to show the struggles, and destruction of the house. This convention of action, adventure shows there is something that needs to be fixed, and someone who needs to help.

The use of the tracking shot of Katniss getting ready to go out shows audiences the adventure is about to begin.

The tracking shot of Katniss running through the forest shows audiences she is going somewhere, highlighting the genre of action, adventure.

The setting of an old bike and dull colours highlights the struggles people in that society live in. Compared to the two men in the beginning, audiences see a divide in society, and notice this divide is reflected on how people live. This shows Katniss may be the hero in this film as she is shown so far to be the main character.

An establishing shot of Katniss is shown of her running across a wall. This shot highlights the genre, as it creates a intense atmosphere and makes audiences on the edge of there seats as they will want to know what is happening and where she is going.

A shallow focus is used to highlight the sign, emphasising the danger of beyond that point. This shows the genre convention as it mainly shows the genre of action and adventure, as audiences will see this is where Katniss is entering making the audience exited to see what is beyond that specific point.
