The Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe Organising Committee of the Parish Church of St. Peter & All Souls Geneva Street, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. PE1 2RS ———————————————————————————————————–———-———————————————————————————————————————-———————— A Thank You Party for the Community Helpers who assisted with the Peterborough visitation of the Miraculous Relic Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe On Friday 9th October, the Organising Committee organised the 7:00 p.m. thanksgiving Mass, celebrated by Assistant Parish Priest, Fr. Waldi Smialek, assisted by Parish Deacon, Rev. Claudio Chiappinelli, to commemorate the Summer Pilgrimage visitation of the Miraculous Relic Image to St. Peter & All Souls Parish Church. Mass began with the hymn to Our Lady of Guadalupe as the celebrants approached the sanctuary where a small copy picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe had been placed in front of the altar, flanked by bouquets of roses and a lit candle. In his homily, Fr. Waldi spoke of how the presence of Our Lady of Guadalupe had brought numerous pilgrims to the Parish Church and how it brought the many communities in the area together. Following the Mass, the congregation, comprising of many Community Helpers who gave up their time over the six days the Relic Image was in the Church, was invited into the Parish Hall, where a “bring and share” buffet had been prepared. A DVD slideshow of 200 plus photographs of the July event was shown on the television screen. Paul Dardis played his guitar and sung a medley of songs whilst the helpers and Sisters of the Parish were enjoying their buffet. Fr. Adam Sowa, Parish Priest, managed to break away from a prior appointment, arrived before cutting the celebration cake. Angela Lobozzo then read out a letter from Andrew Hinde, National Co-ordinator for the Guardians of Our Lady of Guadalupe, expressing that “The Guardians give praise and thanks for the dedication, warmth, hospitality and above all the organising skills shown by your committee. This was a truly memorable visit, both from a position of organisational excellence and the strength of the devotion shown by your team, congregation and visitors, reflecting the strength of Christian community that we are all striving to foster in such a material world…… May the Blessings and Graces received during the visit continue to remain and grow within the hearts of the Parish and the wider Christian community of Peterborough…… The Guardians pray that Our Lady of Guadalupe will strengthen and protect you and your families in all the work you undertake.” The celebration cake, decorated to commemorate Our Lady’s visit to Peterborough was cut and distributed amongst the party, together with a glass of sparkling bubbly. Although some who were invited were not able to attend, 45 people joined in the celebration party, and as good Catholics, £51 was raised in a raffle for good causes.
