“Ahoy!” from the Wor-SHIP May, 2018

We are preparing to moor for the summer so I have a few items to share with you. Several of our “sailors” will be disembarking at this time. As they head outward bound we will miss them very much and send congratulations to: Gabby Heintzelman Harrison Bernover Melanie Bowen Drew Bramley Abbie Sayavongsa Freddy Durston We have enjoyed having these great swabbies aboard. These were no Matelots, that’s for sure! They may become land lubbers now! We have had smooth waters this year, and very little pitch, thanks to First Mate Linda Johnson. She has provided all the musical experiences for us. She is quite the helmsman of tunes and instruments! Thank you, for bringing your children to church each Sunday. It is a blessing to get to witness the growth, both physically and spiritually, of these little ones – who will one day (way too quickly) be the adult leaders of our church! Looking ahead to the Fall and hoping to make the Wor-ship even more seaworthy, Linda and I would like to revisit the giving of tithes and offerings for our children’s worship time. We plan to dedicate several minutes each week for the kids to have an opportunity to give their coins AND talents. Please, encourage your child to bring something to give. We’d love to experience the gift of music, writing, dance, art, or something that they feel proud of and would like to share during this time. As a group, we will decide where we want the offering dollars to go. There will be a sign-up sheet for the offering dates located outside the children’s library. Have a great summer that is without wake and no turtling! Yarr, this has been a good one! Ms. Mel

We deeply appreciate God’s work in and through each of you, as we together seek His kingdom and righteousness. May God bless you and keep you. Covenant Companion Once again, The Covenant Companion has been honored for its excellence. It won first place, Best in Class in Denominational Magazine, in the Associated Church Press competition last month. A total of twelve top awards, including four first place honors, were added to the eight awards earned last month from the Evangelical Press Association. If you go to the Covenant’s website (www.covchurch.org) you can find links to the individual articles that were honored. The Companion is the denominational magazine for the Evangelical Covenant Church. Our church participates in the every-member plan and provides a subscription to each of our member families. When it comes to your home be sure to take a look at it. The content is excellent and very often you might find an article written by someone from Winnetka Covenant Church. We don’t require it, but if you are able to reimburse the church for the $18 cost of the subscription it is very much appreciated.
