The interior design combines clean intuitive elegance with class-leading ergonomics, thus further confirming Opel’s identity as an exciting and approachable, German brand.

VersatilityIn true tradition of the Zafira, the Zafira Life has been designed with real purpose in mind that helps it reach new levels of versatility. Whether for family or business, the Zafira Life is offered in 3 different sizes, each cleverly packaged to maximize interior space, and always has a sub-1,90 m height to make accessibility easy. Customers can choose to turn their Zafira Life into a mobile office with face-to-face seating in the rear rows, foldable tables, making working on the go in a conference room style readily available when needed. Alternatively, the Zafira Life can be optimized for the comfortable transport of up to 9 adults, with its adjustable seat rows of 3 fully sized seats including individual ISOFIX fittings.

Segment overview

With the Zafira Life, the Zafira name is branching out into a new territory, namely the up-level passenger van D subsegment and MPV segment. In contrary to commercial vans, passenger vans are predominately designed to transport people rather than goods, and therefore focus on up-level passenger comfort rather than the size of the cargo area.

Contrary to the traditional MPV segment, the van D passenger segment has been growing in popularity, which is the explanation for the promising outlook for this sub-segment.

This class of upscale MPVs provides a strong combination of unmatched space, functi-onality and passenger comfort, and as a result, has a wide general appeal that ranges from private to commercial customers.

The bumper-integrated daytime running lights are standard on Zafira Life and help to improve overall visibility at dusk and dawn.

Rear-View Child-Minder Mirror

Keeping an eye on children is a full-time job, even when they are strapped in on the rear bench. The Rear-View Child-Minder Mirror that is located above the regular rear-view mirror lets the driver as well as the front seat passenger keep an eye on the kids and the tailgate whilst maintaining full concentration on the road ahead

Standard Cruise Control

Cruise control lets a constant driving speed be set, eliminating the need to control the throttle.

Benefits:• Cruise control offers more comfort for

driver’s legs and maintains constant speeds for long journeys

Note: cruise control can be temporarily overridden with the throttle pedal kickdown. On releasing the throttle, the speed returns to the one set earlier.

Keyless Open and Start

Simply get in and start the engine without having to find the keys.

Benefits:• Both front doors and the rear load

compartment openable when the key is within range

Driver Attention Alert (DAA) Level 1

Fog lamp with cornering function

The fog lamps double up as cornering lights to help illuminate the direction of travel.

Benefits:• Greater visibility of the direction of travel• Helps illuminate hidden obstacles• Illuminates desired parking spots

Operation: 1. The fog lamps with cornering function are active at speeds below approximately 40 km/h. 2. The direction of travel is illuminated when:

– The turn indicator is switched on.– A certain steering angle is reached.

Driver Assistance Pack

Speed Limit Information

The camera detects speed limit signs and provides the driver with this information, on the instrument panel and via the head-up display. If the cruise control/speed limiter is activated, the driver can save the speed detected by pressing the MEM button on the cruise control/speed limiter. In areas with no signs detected, the navigation system provides information on the recommended speed, but in this case the driver must set the cruising/limit speed himself/herself.

Intelligent Speed Adaptation

Intelligent Speed Adaptation works together with both the Speed Limit Information and the cruise control/speed limiter to adapt the recognized speed limit.

Benefits: • Speed limits are made unmissable and

prompt the driver to adapt immediately to avoid speed fines

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Alerts the driver when the car crosses a line without using a direction indicator. The system detects unintentional lane departure, based on ground markings (continuous or dashed line), and alerts the driver by emitting a sound and providing visual feedback on the instrument panel.

Benefits: • Greater level of safety and awareness

when driving

Operation: 1. LDW is on standby by default and activates when:

– Driving– Lane markings are recognized

2. If the driver unintentionally drifts out of the lane markings (without having indicated), LDW issues the following warnings:

– DIC icon turns amber and flashes 3 times – Audible warning is sounded

3. Override the warning by:– Turning the steering wheel– Indicating– Braking or accelerating

4. LDW can be switched off using the hard button on the console.

Note: LDW recognizes the following markings: solid line, dotted line, double solid line, double dotted line.

Smart Beam

Smart Beam uses the front camera to detect the traffic situation and automatically switches from dipped to full beam accordingly.

Benefits:• Optimum vision for every situation• Avoids blinding other road users• Relieves driver of having to switch manually

Operation: 1. Activate Smart Beam via a dedicated button on the stalk. The status is indicated via the green icon in the DIC.

2. When driving, the Smart Beam controls the headlights in the following way:

– Dipped when detecting nearby vehicles – Full beam when detecting dark conditions

or absence of street lighting

Driver Attention Alert (DAA) Level 3 (as part of Driver Assistance Pack)

Provides driver attentiveness alerts. The system monitors driver behaviour via the camera and steering wheel movements. An audible and visual alert warns the driver if loss of attention is detected.

Driver Safety Pack

Forward Collision Alert (FCA)

Alerts the driver to react to a situation of risk of imminent collision. A visual and audible warning is emitted. This action comes just before the AEB is triggered. It has 2 triggering thresholds:

– Criticality level 1 (orange)– Criticality level 2 (red)

Automatic Emergency Braking and Automatic City Emergency Braking (AEB)

Reduces bodily damage to vehicle passengers and other passengers in the following cases:• 0–30 km/h: prevents collision with mobile or fixed obstacles, as well as pedestrians• Above 30 km/h: speed reduction before impact• Deceleration up to 1G.

Automatic Cruise Control (ACC)

Enables the driver to let the vehicle adapt to the speed of the vehicle ahead. This cruise control system is able to reduce its speed to 20 km/h, acting only on the accelerator, only engine brake. This system is particularly suitable for heavy but moving traffic.

Park Pilot, front and rear

Using rear and front ultrasonic sensors, Park Pilot detects and displays the distance between the vehicle and external objects as well as the vehicle’s overall position.

Operation: 1. Park Pilot is active at speeds below 10 km/h. 2. When parking in reverse or going forwards, the system informs the driver:

– Audible pulsing sounds indicate the distance to the external object

– Driver Information Centre shows the distance using a graphic aid

Parking aids

Rear View Camera displayed in the rear-view mirror

The Rear View Camera is the reversing assistant system solution for vehicles equipped with the Radio infotainment system but not equipped with Multimedia or Multimedia Navi. This execution of the Rear View Camera sends the image to the interior rear-view mirror whenever the reverse gear is engaged. The Rear View Camera works together with the radar sensors, offering drivers an audible warning as well as a visual warning.

Assistance systems

Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA)

For vehicles equipped with a radio or Multimedia, the front and rear bumper sensors indicate the proximity to obstacles measured by the sensors. The driver receives differentiated front and rear audible alerts as well as a view on the radio screen. In addition, the driver is informed of the presence of a vehicle driving in an adjacent lane which is in the right- or left-hand side blind spot.

180° Rear View Camera

For vehicles equipped with a Multimedia, i.e. equipped with the 7˝ touch screen, the rear camera sends a top-view 180° reconstituted image of the rear area. When the vehicle approaches an obstacle, the system automatically zooms in on the rear area to display the remaining distance more accurately.

Automatic transmission selection-mode dial

Replacing the traditional lever, the automatic transmission selection-mode dial is an inno-vation solution that is both elegant and intuitive. By simply twisting the dial, the following modes can be selected:

• Park, for when the vehicle is stationary and the wheels are locked

• Drive, for automatic forward motion• Neutral, for when the vehicle is stationary,

wheels are free• Reverse, for automatic backward motion

Shift paddles

The shift paddles are standard with automatic transmission and are located behind the steering wheel, offering drivers an extra level of control that is highly ergonomic and intuitive. The shift paddles function in the following way:

• To go up a gear, the driver must pull the right leaver towards himself/herself

• To go down a gear, the driver must pull the left leaver towards himself/herself

Driving dynamics

IntelliGrip

The IntelliGrip system optimally adapts the front-wheel drive to the road types and conditions. Optimal grip is regulated by the amount of traction allocated to the drive train. IntelliGrip is always combined with 17˝ wheels and winter tyres.

Benefits: • IntelliGrip raises the level of grip and there-

fore safety on all types of road surfaces

Operation: 1. The driver selects the mode according to the given situation. 2. There are 5 available driving modes that can be chosen via the modus selection dial:

– ESP Off: ESP® can be switched off when driving below 50 km/h.

– ESP Standard: normal ESP® mode.– Snow Mode: the system optimizes the

best possible grip and traction to advance when driving below 50 km/h.

– All-terrain Mode: distributes maximum wheel spin to the wheels with the least amount of contact in order to clean them of excess mud, whilst providing maximum grip with the available torque.

– Sand Mode: the drive train is set up in such a way that the wheels do not sink when driving under 120 km/h.

Hill Climb Assist

Hill Climb Assist automatically holds the brakes whenever the vehicle finds itself on a slope. When the driver releases the foot brake, Hill Climb Assist prevents backward movement until the throttle is depressed.

4x4 Dangel conversion1

The Opel approved post-production all-wheel drive conversion by Dangel gives customers who need to use their Zafira Life in off-road situations exactly what they need. The conversion transforms the Zafira Life into an off-road capable vehicle that with a flick of a switch can be reverted back into a front-wheel drive.

The system installs a hydraulic couple that automatically distributes engine torque to the rear axle when traction is lost on the front axle.

1 During trailer towing do not exceed a maximum speed of 80 km/h, in case of special regulations 100 km/h. The speed limits are also recommended in countries with higher permitted speed for trailer-vehicle combinations. Pay attention to the local speed limits. For trailers with low driving stability and caravan trailers the use of an oscillation damper is strongly recommended.
