The Mayor s ta ted tha t i f no one wished t o take par t he would take par t and would request Council t o sponsor h i m i n this competition.

The Manager s ta ted he had a report on the new Revenue Sharing Grants which shows Surrey receives a 14.2% increase over 1979 which is one of the lowest increases t o any Municipality i n the Province. He asked Council i f they wished h i m t o go over the report a t this time, b u t because of t he l a t e hour the Council requested t h a t he supply the information d i r ec t ly t o the Council.

A t t h i s p o i n t Alderman Watkins s ta ted t h a t Surrey has radioact ive waste stored in two places in Surrey and t h e Council has been dealing with the Federal Government in t ry ing t o get i t removed from the Municipality over t he l a s t two years without success. He s ta ted t h a t Court action i s now being taken t o get i t removed from Surrey. The problem i s t ha t there i s no place acceptable t o the Federal Government or t o any Province as t o where i t will stored.
