The QR Code: Helping to Create an Elections Identity
This image “QR CODE” is a two-dimensional bar code that contains embeded (stored) information. QR Codes can be scanned with an ordinary SMART PHONE to download whatever pre-programed information that is attached to it. We are now making it possible for voters to download specific information about the elections process, directly to their SMART PHONE.

-Placed materials in all areas of need, all over the county.
-Showcased decal of QR Code on mobile unit
(Decal is large enough for people to scan from their cars, while parked or in
traffic.)

Purpose:
-To increase exposure of QR Codes by distributing them to the community in
large quantities of materials.
Steps Taken:
-Scan QR Code to go straight to webpage of interest: (ex, check your voter
status, or find our Absentee Ballot hotline number.)
-Create multiple codes to represent different sets of information.
-Directions to
Polling Places -Placing QR CODES on Poll
Worker change of location signs.
Purpose:
-Scanning this QR Code on “change of location” signs will give you a map of
the new location, and turn by turn directions on how to get to that new
location.
Steps Taken:
-Signs placed at all polling locations that were changed to new locations.
-Billboards
-On major highways or
intersections.
-In areas of low voter turnout
Purpose:
-Voters can scan to get up to date information or become more aware of
process.
Steps Taken:
-Placed in areas that were very visible.
-Early Voting Wait
Times -Wait times in line at all Early
Voting locations.
Purpose:
-Informed voters on possible locations with shorter wait times.
Steps Taken:
-Voters can scan the QR Codes to find out which early voting site had the
shortest wait time in line. Proved to be extremely useful.
-Contact

Purpose:
-Can program QR Codes to download contact information right to the users
contact list without error.
Steps Taken:
-Making them available in the formats addressed above and distributing them
all over the county.

Dear Broward voters,
It is my pleasure to present you with this Sample Ballot Brochure for the 2012 General Election.
The Sample Ballot contains all campaign races and issues that will appear on the ballot for the upcoming Nov. 6, 2012 election.
You will also find instructional tools and illustrations to help you understand the voting process with more clarity. Please remember that some races are specific to certain districts, so all races will not appear on your ballot. Please use your voter information card to help you determine which district races will apply to you.
Keep in mind that some races were decided in the August 14th Primary election, and they will not appear on the Nov. 6, 2012 ballot. For a listing of these races you may log on to the Broward County Supervisor of Elections website at www.browardsoe.org Candidate Section.
All voters in Broward County, whether voting Absentee, Early or at the Polling Place will vote on a four (4) page ballot. The ballot is printed on both sides of the paper, so please be sure to turn your ballot over and vote on each side.
This Sample Ballot is an educational tool generic to all voters. If you want to see a Precinct specific ballot, please refer to the Precinct Finder on our website.
Below is information related to questions frequently asked at this stage of an election;
✔ Absentee Ballots are canvassed beginning 15 days out from the election. The results are released at 7:00 p.m. on election night. It is against the law to present them before 7:00 p.m.
✔ Provisional Ballots are issued to a voter whose eligibility cannot be verified at the polls. A voter has two (2) days to present documentation to validate their eligibility. No voter should be turned away from the polls.
✔ Early Voting will be offered at seventeen (17) locations throughout Broward County. For Early Voting only, a voter can vote at any of the sites regardless of your residential address.
✔ Early Voting Schedule for Broward County is an eight (8) day period beginning Saturday October 7th and ending Saturday November 3, 2012. The hours for Early Voting in Broward County are 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

1. Voter’s name does not appear in the EViD and the voter’s
eligibility cannot be determined.
2. Voter refutes the Supervisor of Election’s confirmation that
he/she is not registered/eligible to vote.
3. Voter did not provide picture/signature ID.
4. There is an indication on the EViD that the voter has returned
the absentee ballot or has voted in the office or at an early
voting location but the voter maintains that he/she has not
voted even after a call to the office.
5. There is an indication in the EViD that the voter has been
challenged in this election.
6. Voter is challenged at the precinct.
7. Indication on the EViD that the voter’s FL. DL #, FL. ID card #
or SSN is not yet verified by the Department of State in
conjunction with DHSMV.
