To date 258 parish families are par-ticipating in the Annual Catholic Appeal. We have a participation goal of 514 families and hope everyone will help us achieve this goal. Video Mass at SEAS While Father Lucero is receiving the Eucharist, please rev-erently say the prayer below:

An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

The SEAS parish office has a nice selection of devotional items available for purchase: rosaries, statues, prayer cards, prayer

books, and sacramental gifts. These are just a few of our many items!

How can you make a

difference for SEAS students?

By donating to CTSO and designating St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School as the beneficiary, you will help to provide scholarships directly to our SEAS students, and you can claim up to $2,269 (when married filing jointly) of that donation as a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on your State

taxes! Visit www.CTSO-Tucson.org for more information or to make a donation.

More than half of our students rely on tuition assistance, and your support is greatly appreciated.

Patroness of pandemics, pray for us. Be with us today and everyday that we may be

freed from all bondages and healed from all infirmities. Intercede for the world that

God would extend His merciful hand of protection over it and free us from all sick-

ness and sin. St. Corona, help us to have trust in God’s plan and to surrender wholly to His Will for our life. Give us the humility to repent and turn our lives completely to Him. O Glorious martyr, pray that we may

find courage to stand up for God in times of light and darkness. Open our hearts that we may be generous and charitable and

help our neighbors in need. Teach us to be like Christ in all we do. Protect us, free us,

and heal us. Amen.

Teachings of the Church The Act of Spiritual Communion

How might we go about making a spiritual Communion? St.

Peter Julian Eymard (1811-1868), the French “apostle of

the Eucharist,” suggested the following format: “If you do

not receive (holy Communion) sacramentally, receive spirit-

ually by making the following acts: conceive a real desire to

be united to Jesus Christ by acknowledging the need you

have to love His life; arouse yourself to perfect contrition

for all your sins, past and present, by considering the infi-

nite goodness and sanctity of God; receive Jesus Christ in

spirit in your inmost soul, entreating Him to give you the

grace to live entirely for Him, since you can live only by

him; imitate Zacchaeus in his good resolutions and thank

our Lord that you have been able to hear Holy Mass, and

make a spiritual Communion; offer in thanksgiving a special

act of homage, a sacrifice, an act of virtue, and beg the

blessing of Jesus Christ upon yourself and all your relatives

and friends.”

Knights of Columbus State Raffle Ending Soon

The Knights of Columbus State Council Raffle is coming up May 16, 2020. The money raised from the Raffle will be used

to support various charities in the state of Arizona and locally. Half of the money raised will come back to our Council.

Last year, we were able to give the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart on Magee Road $1,700. So far this year, we have

been able to raise only half of the amount from prior years. This will impact the amount we can support the Sisters and

their convent. The Knights are asking for support from the St Elizabeth Ann Seton community to help by either

purchasing raffle tickets or make a donation to Knights of Columbus Council 8077.

Here are the list of prizes for this year's Raffle. 1st Prize $10,000 —2nd Prize $7, 000—3rd Prize $5, 000—4th Prize

$3,000—5th Prize $2,000—6th Prize $1, 000—7th to 10th Prize $500 Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20.

The last day to purchase ticket will be May 10th. You can obtain tickets at the SEAS Church Office or by contacting Jeff

Schneider at (520) 419-4130. If you would like to make a donation, you may write a check to Knights of Columbus

Council 8077 with State Raffle in the memo line. Anything you give will help. Thank you for Supporting the Knights of

Spiritual Works of Mercy

The Spiritual Works of Mercy The Spiritual Works of Mercy have long been a part of he Christian tradition, appearing in the works of theologians and spiritual writers throughout history. Just as Jesus attended to the spiritual well-being of those he minis-tered to, these Spiritual Works of Mercy guide us to "help our neighbor in their spiritual needs" (USCCA). The seven Spiritual Works of Mercy are listed be-low. After each work of mercy there are also suggestions and words of advice for living them out in our daily lives. Have your own suggestions for living out the Spiritual Works of Mercy during times of quarantine? Let us know at [email protected] COUNSELING THE DOUBTFUL Everyone has moments of doubt in their faith journey. Nevertheless, we should always remember that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and turn to him along our way. Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may eventually become wise" (Prov 19:20) The Cross of Christ "the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength" (1 Cor 1:25) Has someone asked you for advice? Orient your response to Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Follow Christ with the witness of your life so that others may see God's love revealed in your actions. Accompany a friend who is struggling with believing to join a parish group for service or faith formation, share a book you found useful in dealing with your friend's faith concern, and worship at Sunday Mass. INSTRUCTING THE IGNORANT Learn about our faith and be open to talking with others about our beliefs. There is always something more to discover about our faith. Go on a service trip or short term mission trip. No time? Donate to support someone on their service trip Volun-teer to help with religious education programs at your parish. Invite someone to go to mass with you this week-end. Know your faith! Read through the USCCA to find out more about the Catholic faith and how to live it. BEARING WRONGS PATIENTLY Do not be bitter about wrongs done against you. Place your hope in God so that you can endure the troubles of this world and face them with a compassionate spirit. Frustrated with some-one? Step away from the situation, take a few deep breaths, pray the Our Father, asking God for patience.

ADMONISHING THE SINNER Do not judge, but be sup-portive in helping others find their way and correct their mistakes. Together we can learn to walk more closely with Christ. In humility we must strive to create a culture that does not accept sin, while realizing that we all fall at times. Don't judge, but guide others to-wards the path of salvation (see Mt 7:1-2) When you correct someone, don't be arrogant. We are all in need of God's loving correction. We should journey together to a deeper understanding of our shared faith, "Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye" (Mt 7:5) COMFORTING THE SORROWFUL Be open to listening and comforting those who are dealing with grief. Even if we aren't sure of the right words to say, our pres-ence can make a big difference. Lend a listening ear to those going through a tough time. Make a home cooked meal for a friend who is facing a difficult time. Write a letter or send a card to someone who is suffer-ing. A few moments of your day may make a lifetime of difference to someone who is going through a diffi-cult time. FORGIVING INJURIES Forgiving others is difficult at times because we do not have God's limitless mercy and compassion. But Jesus teaches us that we should forgive as God forgives, relying on him to help us show others the mercy of God. Let go of grudges. Say-ing sorry is something we learn as kids, but how often do we really mean it? Forgiveness transforms hearts and lives. Participate in the Sacrament of Penance. Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet. PRAYING FOR THE LIVING AND THE DEAD Prayer is one of the most powerful ways we can support oth-ers. Joining together in prayer for the living and the dead entrusts us all into God's care. Request a Mass intention for a friend or family member who is going through a tough time. Request a Mass intention for a friend or family member who has passed away. Keep your own book of prayer intentions, writing down the names of those who you are keeping in your prayers. Ask a friend or family member if there is anything you can pray for them about. Through prayer, entrust your cares and concerns for those around you to God. Pray for the holy souls in Purgatory.
