I.T. I.S. Happening
I.T.
Our Implementation Team has begun meeting to discern action plans for our Future Vision
process. During our first meeting, each member offered some potential action plans (based
upon information gathered from the Leadership Team) for Children and Young Families
under the goal of Growing our Fellowship. Each action item was compiled into a main list
so the team could see reoccurring themes and begin to narrow down appropriate and
achievable action plans. This process will be repeated for each goal during the next few
meetings. In order to keep the congregation updated on our progress, we will create an I.T.
Update page on our church website. Please keep our I.T. in your prayers.
I.S.
Our Interim Search Committee has also held its first meeting and begun the process of
evaluating the various responsibilities for an Interim Children's Minister and Interim Music
Minister. The committee also reviewed several resumes of interested persons and will begin
initial interviews over the next few weeks. Please be in prayer for the Search Committee as
we seek the right people for these interim positions.
Happening
Needless to say, much is happening right now at FBC Clemson. It is a challenging but
exciting time in the life of our church. Let us continue to celebrate the incredible ways that
God blesses our lives and our church and let us continue to enter his gates with thanksgiving
and praise.
Grace and Peace,
Rusty

MISSION
Project Well Done is fully underway! So far over 40 water bottles have been signed out
and our collection reservoir is slowly starting to be filled with change and bills. Our
children and preschoolers have participated in outstanding ways as they raised money
during their week of Vacation Bible School for Project Well Done!
You can bring in your weekly collection (as well as check out a water bottle) each
Sunday morning in the Welcome Center.
Habitat for Humanity Build Project – Churchwide Planning Meeting Sunday, August 26, 9 AM in the Family Life Center

God’s Creation
Several weeks ago, we spent a family week in the Tennessee mountains for our summer get - together. There were 22 of us – – Summers and me, our four children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and one guest. At our first sit-down meal, I mentioned that, as patriarch of the group, I needed to detail the rules for the week. I could see the teenagers begin to sink into their chairs, anticipating curfew and social behavior restrictions. I revived them by stating that there would be only one rule and that it would involve recycling. I told them that I was a member of the Earth Care Ministry Team at church, and as such, I would be enforcing recycling during the week. Cooperation was excellent and we accumulated four packed tall kitchen bags with recyclables. Since we could not locate a recycling center in that area of rural Tennessee mountains, we packed those bags in the trunk of the car, brought them home, and separated the components and took them to the clean, convenient center located on the left as you enter the town of Central. In the twenty-fifth chapter of Matthew, Jesus made it very clear that we have a responsibility to care for and serve one another. In the book of Genesis, we have distinct instructions from God that we also have the responsibility to protect the earthly environment He has provided for our well being and enjoyment. We should take every opportunity that comes along to emphasize, especially to our young children and youth, that we are charged with protecting this wonderful earthly world that God has provided for us.

Earth Care Emphasis –September 2-8
NATURE AS A DIVINE TRUST is the earth care emphasis theme for the week of September 2-8 to emphasize the celebration of eco-justice and our faith. Dr. David Rutledge, a professor in the Department of Religion at Furman University, will speak at the Wednesday night dinner (September 5) as we commemorate the church's green pilgrimage. Dr. Rutledge will emphasize Biblical sources that recognize nature as a divine trust. The worship service for Sunday, September 2, will devote a message by our
pastor, mission emphasis and music as a tribute to God for our glorious earth and recognize our responsibility to respect that which God has placed in our care.
