God the Creator – Part 3
Nothing can ultimately stand in the way of God’s creation. Not sin, not
rebellion. As the epistle to the Ephesians says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God-- not the result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” The Lord has a vested interest in bringing you into His kingdom. He has a vested interest in sanctifying you, making you holy, and making you like Him. He has a vested interest in saving you, in keeping you for Himself for eternity. He can do this. He created the world out of nothing. And He not only has the power to save you and sanctify you and make you like Him, He has the will and the desire to do so. God created the world, He created a Nation, He created His Church. He is currently creating everyone who believes in Him to be like Him, sanctified and holy. That is God’s part of the relationship. We have our part, too. In the story of the feeding of the 5000 we have an image of the Lord miraculously creating and nourishing His church. It’s an image of people seeking after Jesus. It was a multitude, a large group of people. They were on their way to the Passover. They had heard Jesus preaching. They knew he healed and did many miraculous things. They were drawn to Him and they sought Him out. The image for us is Jesus drawing people to Himself. And when they are gathered before Him, He feeds them. From five loaves and two fishes the Lord created a meal that more than satisfied such a great number of people. Where did it come from, all that bread and fish enough to feed so many? Again, like when He created the world from nothing, or when He created Isaac from parents who had nothing in themselves to bring forth a child, once again, here He takes next to nothing and creates fulfillment for a multitude of people. Dios el Creador – 3ª Parte
Nada puede finalmente obstaculizar la creación de Dios. No pecado, no rebelión. Como dice la epístola a los Efesios: "Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe, y esta no es vuestra obra; es el regalo de Dios, no el resultado de las obras, para que nadie se jacte. Porque somos lo que Él ha creado, creados en Cristo Jesús para buenas obras, que Dios preparó de antemano para que fuera nuestro modo de vida ". El Señor tiene un gran interés en traerte a su reino. Él tiene un gran interés en santificarte y hacerte como Él. Tiene un gran interés en salvarte, en guardarte a ti mismo por toda la eternidad. Él puede hacer esto. Él creó el mundo de la nada. Y Él no solo tiene el poder para salvarte y santificarte y hacerte como Él, sino que tiene la voluntad y el deseo de hacerlo. Dios creó el mundo, creó una nación, creó su Iglesia. Actualmente está creando a todos los que creen en Él para que sean como Él, santificados y santos. Esa es la parte de Dios en la relación. Nosotros tenemos nuestra parte, también. En la historia de multiplicación de los panes para alimentar a los 5000, tenemos una imagen del Señor que milagrosamente crea y nutre a su Iglesia. Es una imagen de personas que buscan a Jesús. Fue una multitud, un gran grupo de personas. Estaban en camino a la Pascua. Habían escuchado a Jesús predicando. Sabían que sanó e hizo muchas cosas milagrosas. Fueron atraídos hacia Él y lo buscaron. La imagen para nosotros es que Jesús atrae a las personas hacia Él mismo. Y cuando se reúnen ante Él, las alimenta. De cinco panes y dos pescados, el Señor creó una comida que satisfizo a muchísima gente. ¿De dónde vino, todo ese pan y pescado suficientes para alimentar a tantos? Nuevamente, como cuando creó el mundo de la nada, o cuando creó a Isaac de padres que no tenían nada en sí mismos para dar a luz un hijo, una vez más, aquí toma casi nada y crea satisfacción para una multitud de personas. The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center and the Father Kemper Council 6409 of the Knights of Columbus thank all who participated in our blood drive on June 24. We had a good turnout of donors who contributed thirty units of blood as well as many who were deferred at this time. This is a time of critical shortage in the San Antonio area due to regular donors on vacation so this show of concern is a true Christian response. Thank you.

Great Amen Paul Turner
“Amen” means “So be it.” It means “I believe.” It means “The truth has been spoken.” And it’s a little like clicking the “Send” button after you’ve written an email. It gives your prayer the wings it uses to fly toward God in heaven. We conclude many prayers at Mass with an Amen. The Glory to God, the collect, the Creed, the prayer over the offerings, the doxology after the Lord’s Prayer, and the prayer after communion all end with the word “Amen”. When you receive the Body and Blood of the Lord at communion, you answer “Amen”. But amid all these Amens, one is traditionally called “great”, the one that concludes the Eucharistic prayer. The Great Amen is great because of what it says Amen to. Throughout the Eucharistic prayer, we have been praying in thanksgiving for the wonderful things God does for us, and we have been praying in petition for the living and the dead. Most importantly, we have been praying that the Holy Spirit would change the bread and wine on the altar into the Body and Blood of Christ. This prayer, the most powerful prayer in human history, concludes with an Amen that can only be called “great”. Because of the significance of this Amen, it is one of the acclamations that we are encouraged to sing at Mass (General Instruction of the Roman Missal 40). Usually the priest will sing the preceding words, which refer to Christ: “Through him, with him, in him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, almighty Father, for ever and ever.” To those words, all we can say and all we must say is “Amen”. "Amén" significa "Así sea". Significa "Creo". Significa "Se ha hablado la verdad". Y es como hacer clic en el botón "Enviar" después de haber escrito un correo electrónico. Da a tu oración las alas que usa para volar hacia Dios en el cielo. Concluimos muchas oraciones en la Santa Misa con un Amén. El Gloria a Dios, la colecta, el Credo, la oración sobre las ofrendas, la Doxología después del Padrenuestro y la oración después de la comunión terminan con la palabra "Amén". Cuando recibes el Cuerpo y la Sangre del Señor en la comunión, respondes "Amén". Pero en medio de todos estos Amén, uno es tradicionalmente llamado "el gran Amén", el que concluye la Oración Eucarística. El gran amén es grandioso por lo que dice amén. A lo largo de la oración Eucarística, hemos estado orando en acción de gracias por las cosas maravillosas que Dios hace por nosotros, y hemos estado orando en petición por los vivos y los muertos. Lo más importante, hemos estado orando para que en el altar el Espíritu Santo convierta el pan y el vino en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. BooksToBorrow from the Notre Dame Parish Library are available in the narthex of the church, near the bell tower door. Richard Cort tells us about Raids on the Unspeakable, by Thomas Merton. I had difficulty with this book, very possibly because I haven’t read enough Merton, and I’m not familiar enough with the rambling nature of his writing. But I found parts of the book almost incoherent, at least for me personally. But having said that, this book contains one of the most interesting – and thought-inspiring – chapters that I’ve come across in a long while. Maybe it even starts earlier on page 31, when Merton reveals the purpose of this book by saying: “The question of this book, the deeper question, is the very nature of reality itself.” And then on pages 45-49 – in the chapter entitled “A Devout Meditation in Memory of Adolf Eichmann” – he gets into a fascinating discussion about what exactly is reality, and what does the word “sanity” really mean. What happens when people, who function seemingly coherently within the strictures of their society, suddenly start committing barbaric acts such as those committed during World War II. Are these people sane? Or are they insane? Is there even a label for them that makes sense, or are we seeing something really evil manifesting itself before our eyes? And how can we apply what we learn from this discussion to our modern world, where some things that occur seem so extraordinarily removed from what we would call “correct behavior”, that we become speechless when trying to describe what we are seeing. Maybe Merton sums it up in this chapter when he says: “The whole concept of sanity in a society where spiritual values have lost their meaning, is itself meaningless.” And in doing that, Merton also gives the answer to the question of how we fix situations like this. The answer is simply to worry less about labeling things sane or insane, and to ensure that our society reflects the time-honored spiritual values that have been characteristics of successful cultures over the millennia. And because of that one short chapter – and the fact that I’m still thinking about it months after I first read it – I’m very glad that you gave me this book to read.
