The servant with five bags multiplied his earnings to ten bags, and the servant with two bags doubled his investment. The servant with one bag hid his money and gained nothing. We often think of this parable in terms of money or talents. What if we considered this parable in terms of time? Have we pondered how God multiplies the time we spend with Him or the time we choose to observe the Sabbath? It is no surprise that in the twenty-first century we have more conveniences than any other time in history. Technology changes almost daily. We have access to all types of information. We can buy anything at any time from any place around the world. Despite all these conveniences and advances, our lives are fuller and busier than ever. Our days are filled with work, activities, and responsibilities. When someone asks how we are doing, the common response is Im busy.We have trouble sleeping and relaxing, and often fill our spare moments with mindless activities or entertainment. How would our lives change if we trusted God with our time, and spent time listening to Him? If we asked God to order our steps every day, and to help us accomplish only those things that He wants us to accomplish, would we live our lives differently? If we truly observed a Sabbath rest sometime during each week, would our bodies and minds be renewed and refreshed? Jesus said, Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.Luke 6:38. The Worship of God

The Principle of Multiplication

In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus tells the parable about the bags of gold where a business man gave one servant five bags of gold, another servant two bags of gold, and another servant one bag of gold. When someone asks how we are doing, the common response is “I’m busy.” We have trouble sleeping and relaxing, and often fill our spare moments with mindless activities or entertainment. Jesus said, “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38. Whatever we are willing to give God—our time, money, talents, service—will be returned to us in abundance.

Thursday, November 2 (7:00-8:30 PM) Everyone is welcome!

Operation Christmas Child - The Power of a Simple Gift Operation Christmas Child is an easy, fun and rewarding opportunity for members of St. James to help share the love of Jesus with children throughout the world. Directions, boxes and labels are available at several locations around the church. Please fill your box with small gifts of school supplies, toys, candy, etc. and return your box to the church by the 11 am service on Sunday, November 19th. Include a $9 donation to Samaritan’s Purse with your box to handle shipping and delivery. Please note that there are a few changes for 2017 including a $2 per box increase in donation; and boxes should no longer contain any candy or toothpaste due to regulations of some of the countries where boxes are delivered. Find more information and suggestions about what to pack in your boxes visit http://www.samaritanspurse.org.

St. James will hold its annual Charge Conference on Sunday, October 29, 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. All interested members of St. James are invited to attend.
