Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, Dzisiaj czytamy Ewangelię według św. Marka ( 1:14-20), która mówi o powołaniu rybaków: Szymona, Andrzeja, Jakuba i Jana na Apostołów. Rybaków ryb Pan Jezus swoją Boską mocą zmienił w rybaow ludzi. Łowienie ryb i naprawianie sieci to zajęcia mało atrakcyjne. Łatwo przy nich o monotonię i zmęczenie. Czy nie doznajesz osłabiającego przeświadczenia o
beznadziejności swego losu i braku satysfakcji? Być może użalasz się nad sobą, na ciężką pracę, która niewiele zmienia nawet w twojej materialnej sytuacji. Ale to tylko pogłębia przygnębienie. Świat może ofiarować jedynie krótkotrwałą przyjemność, nie potrafi uczynić człowieka szczęśliwym i zachwycająco spełnionym. Kiedy jest nam ciężko, stajemy się też męczący dla innych, nieustannie opowiadając o swych porażkach i utracie nadziei. Narzekanie to najczęstszy temat rozmów. Podejrzewam, że narzekamy po to, by wzbudzić podziw innych. „Popatrzcie, jak ja cierpię, podziwiajcie mnie!” – zdajemy się mówić. Większość ludzi ma problemy z miłowaniem kogokolwiek, nawet siebie, z depresją, emocjonalnym niezaspokojeniem, nałogami, poczuciem winy, zaniżaniem swojej wartości. Nieustannie naprawiają jakieś sieci, ale ciągle powstają nowe dziury i przedarcia, które trzeba naprawiać. Usiłują złowić w świecie coś dla siebie, ale efekty są mizerne. Same płotki. Rozglądają się za kimś, kto by im wskazał nową drogę, podarował nadzieję, choćby złudną. Dlatego różni uzdrowiciele, wróżki, guru, sekciarscy mesjasze, demaskujący obłudę zawsze nie swoją, politycy mają wokół siebie zachwycone ławice wyznawców. Oblężeni są lekarze, psychiatrzy, kapłani. Jakie to kłopotliwe, gdy setki ludzi uwiesza się na ramieniu jednego człowieka z inklinacją do uciekania od odpowiedzialności za samodzielne kroczenie po ścieżkach życia. Można się łatwo uzależnić od osoby, która nas akceptuje i wzmacnia tak bardzo, że w końcu nie potrafimy żyć bez codziennych pigułek afirmacji. Pewien lekarz opowiadał, że większość pacjentów odwiedza go nie z powodu chorób, ale z powodu zatroskania, jakiego oczekują od niego. Kto z ludzi ma siłę wysłuchiwać godzinami użalania się innych? Kto może wskazać nadzieję na sens życia i podeprzeć ją niezmęczonym ramieniem? Czy istnieje ktoś, kto potrafi nas wyzwolić od zaplątania się we własne sieci smutku, beznadziei, bezsensu, niepewności, lęku i chronicznego poprawiania i zaszywania dziur grzechów, które tak trudno na nowo uczynić siecią sumienia o sensownych kombinacjach? Jest tylko jedna osoba, której obietnica na pewno jest wiarygodna. Jest Nim Jezus. Dzięki Jego słowom czterech uczniów wyrwało się z poplątanego losu i odnalazło zupełnie nowy cel dla siebie. Już nie chwytali się czegokolwiek, ale dali się pochwycić zachwyceniu Bogiem uczłowieczonym. Zostali zaproszeni do łowienia ludzkich dusz z ciemnych przepaści grzechu i rozpaczy. Ale nie dla siebie, lecz dla Niego. Zachęcam wszystkich do takiego pójścia za Chrystusem, abyśmy umieli właśnie Nim zachwycać ludzi a nie sobą. Niech Pan nam wszystkim da tę łaskę. Szczęść Boże!

Dear Parishioners and Friends, Today's Gospel according to Mark (1: 14-20) tells us of the appointment of fishermen, Simon, Andrew, and James as Apostles. Fishing and repairing nets was not an a rac ve task. It filled the Apostles' lives with monotony and fa gue. Do not you ever experience a debilita ng convic on of hopelessness and dissa sfac on in your own life and des ny? Self-pity that your hard work does not change your material situa on? Our world can offer us only short-term pleasures, and cannot make us feel eternally happy and ful-filled. When we experience difficulty, we become difficult to others. We con nually mull over our failures and loss of hope. Com-plaining o en becomes the most common topic of conversa-
on. I suspect that we complain in order to gain sympathy or the admira on of others. "Look, how much I suffer, admire me!" - we all seem to say. A lot of people have problems loving anyone, even themselves. Coping with depression, addic on, guilt, and low self-esteem, we constantly try to fix our nets, but are also constantly crea ng new tears that need to be mended. We constantly try to make a new catch, with poor results. We look for someone to show us the way, give us an illusion of hope. Different healers, psychics, gurus, sect leaders, and poli cians, are delighted to have shoals of followers around them. Doctors, psychiatrists, and priests are besieged by hun-dreds of people trying to flee from the responsibility of making their own decisions. How can one person take on the responsi-bility for hundreds of others? One can easily become addicted to a person who listens to us and gives us so much strength that we can no longer live in a world without a daily pill of affirma-
ons. A doctor once said that the majority of his pa ents visit him not because they are sick, but because of the concern they expect from him. Who among all people has the strength to con nual-ly listen to the laments of others? Who can give hope, and un-tangle us from our own webs of sadness, despair, uncertainty, fear and the chronic mending of tears, holes and sins from which it is so hard to make a new net of conscience with mean-ingful pa erns? There is only one person whose promise is credible. It is Jesus. Thanks to his words four students escaped from the nets of their own tangled des ny and found a new goal. They no longer performed menial work, but allowed themselves to be enchanted by the human-God. They were invited to be the fishermen of human souls from the dark abyss of sin and despair. Not for themselves, but for him. I invite all of you to follow Christ with such convic on that people become enchanted with him, not you. Let the Lord give us all this grace. God Bless!

THE CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD BEGINS NEXT WEEK!
As you have been seeing in this space – the Children’s Liturgy of the Word begins next week on Sunday, Feb-ruary 1, 2015 at the 10:30 Mass. A er the opening prayer, children between the ages of 5 and 10 will be invited to leave with adult supervision to the school library to hear an age appropriate gospel of the day. They will have an opportunity to hear the readings and to discuss it. They will then return to their families in church a er the Creed. They will be gone for approximately 15 minutes. This is a new op on for your children to hear the word of God in their own terms and for you to hear the read-ings and homily in Church. We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year an-niversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invit-ed to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which you can place the names of your loved ones: parents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parish-ioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be named, so that their memory will last forever. You can have your own name on a leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds from this project will be used for repairs of the church parking area and parish buildings. There are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engraving and moun ng of each small leaf, the dona on is $250.00, while for each large leaf it is $400.00. The number of leaves is limited and there may not be enough for everyone. Please visit the rectory office to complete all necessary transac ons.

In the last year alone, our Angels were able to help 13 St. Constance School children, all with the moneys that you have so graciously donated. Children from these families received help because their parents lost jobs, had large medical bills, or were unable to work for an extended period of me. Several years ago now, I spent an early morning hour--actually, it was more like a middle-of-the-night hour--outside of a local abor on clinic with a friend as part of a Forty Days for Life observance. It was rainy and cold, and Rich and I were pray-ing the rosary together for a change of heart in women seeking abor ons. More generally, I suppose, we were praying for a culture of life to make a posi ve impact on a culture of death. Just two guys, in the rain, in the dark, praying for life as the neighborhood slept. But the two young women who drove past us that night were wide awake, and they sha ered the quiet with the obsceni es they screamed at us as they rolled by. I saw anger on their faces, and heard hatred in their voices. Flash forward to this past weekend when some fellow parishion-ers and I drove to Federal Plaza to par cipate in the 2015 Chicago March for Life. I’m not good at es ma ng crowd sizes, but I’m guessing thousands jammed the plaza to celebrate life. Lots of young people, families, infants in the arms of their parents. A couple of double decker busses rolled past as the rally was about to begin, and hundreds of high school students hoisted signs showing their support for the cause. In solidarity, we cheered and hoisted our signs in return. The temperature was balmy for mid-January in Chi-cago, promp ng Archbishop Cupich to acknowledge the special commi ee in charge of praying for good weather… It was good to be there. A er a few speeches, we walked a handful of blocks to the Thompson Center and on the way, a friend men oned that the whole event had a real posi ve feel to it. I told him that I couldn’t agree more. But just before we reached our des na on, a wave of protestors did what they could to quell the joyful vibe. Separated from me by only about five feet and a row of police officers, they shouted from the curb their disagreement, and they had signs, too. “Pro-Life is An -Woman.” And “Abor on on demand, and without apology.” And “I’m a woman, not a womb.” Perhaps because their anger wasn’t directed at me personally, it didn’t seem as intense as the anger directed at me by the two young women, but like those two, these people were not happy. Look, this has been a journey for me. I graduated high school in 1972 and went away to college shortly therea er, so when Roe v. Wade went down in January of 1973, I was barely paying a en on. Even years later, I didn’t give abor on much thought. I didn’t know anyone who’d had one, a er all. At least I don’t think I did. But years ago, and years later s ll, I wouldn’t have stood outside an abor on clinic quietly praying the rosary. Nor would I have gone to a pro-life rally hois ng a sign saying “Defend Life.” I understand that this is a hot topic and people are passionate in both direc ons about it. But I also understand the posi ve energy I felt during the march, and the nega ve energy I felt coming at me from the protesters. And now it’s clear in my head which side of the curb I want to be on.

7-8 Luty, 2015 Pragniemy podziękować tym wszystkim, którzy już odpowiedzieli na otrzymany list od arcybiskupa Cupicha o wsparcie Kwesty Katolickiej. W imieniu wszystkich, którzy otrzymują pomoc przez posługę i duszpasterstwa wspierane przez Doroczną Kwestę Katolicką, dziękujemy za Wasze dary. Jeśli do tej pory nie odpowiedziałeś na przesłaną korespondencję, prosimy uczyń to jak najszybciej. Poza wsparciem, jakie otrzymują duszpasterstwa i programy w całej Archidiecezji, Kwesta Katolicka wspiera dodatkowo posługi, które służą pomocą duszpasterstwu w naszej parafii.
W tym roku, motywem przewodnim są słowa: „Świadomi powierzonego nam obowiązku”. Bóg daje każdemu z nas wiele darów. Naszym obowiązkiem jest nie tylko je rozpoznawać, ale także je pielęgnować. Dary, które składamy na rzecz naszej parafii, archidiecezji i Kościoła na całym świecie są jednym ze sposobów wyrażania naszej wdzięczności. Prosimy o hojne wsparcie Kwesty Katolickiej 2015. Po zebraniu docelowej kwoty w postaci spłaconych zobowiązań, 100% dodatkowo zebranych środków, zostanie zwrócona nam, do wykorzystania na niezbędne potrzeby naszej parafii.
WYSTAWA NARODOWYCH SIŁ ZBROJNYCH—NOWE POKOLENIE—Niedziela 1 luty W dniu 1 lutego, 2015 r. po Mszy Świętej, w sali parafialnej Borowczyka, odbedzie się wystawa, organizaowana przez Narodowe Siły Zbrojne – Nowe Pokolenie, przedstawiająca rzeź i mordy ukraińskich nacjonalistów spod znaku UPA i OUN na polskiej ludności cywilnej na Kresach Wschodnich. Podczas wystawy, bedzie organizowana zbiórka wszelkich potrzebnych materiałów spożywczych i nie tylko, które będa wysłane do polskich rodzin z Kresów. Przyjmowane będą: polskie książki, żywność z długą data ważności, ubrania (tylko nowe). Od 6 – 15 lutego 2015 odbędzie się II Polonijny Kongres Rodziny w Chicago: tydzień poświęcony wykładom rekolekcyjnym oraz spotkaniom warsztatowym dla małżeństw, osób przygotowujących się do sakramentu małżeństwa, dla osób, które pragną pogłębić swoją wiedzę i życie duchowe, i dla młodzieży, wraz z towarzyszącymi wydarzeniami kulturalnymi.
W czasie II Kongresu rekolekcje, warsztaty, i konferencje dotyczyć będą różnych obliczy miłości w małżeństwie i rodzinie. Biorąc pod uwagę złożony i bogaty charakter hasła przewodniego, program Kongresu został podzielony na pięć głównych działów po to, aby każdy mógł znaleźć coś, co szczególnie do niego przemówi czy to modlitwę, konferencje, warsztaty, sympozjum, czy tez wydarzenia kulturalne. Prezentacje odbędą się głównie w języku polskim, ale również po angielsku w szeregu parafii na terenie Archidiecezji Chicago.
Swój udział już zadeklarowali: Jezuicki Ośrodek Milenijny, Parafie: Miłosierdzia Bożego, Ojców Cystersów, Św. Alberta Wielkiego, Św. Brunona, Św. Daniela Proroka, Św. Ferdynanda, Św. Konstancji, Św. Cyryla i Metodego, Św. Tomasza Becke a, Św. Trójcy, Św. Wiliama, Św. Władysława oraz Bazylika św. Jacka.
Jak zrodziła się duchowa adopcja? Powstała po objawieniach w Fa mie, stając się odpowiedzią na wezwanie Matki Bożej do modlitwy różańcowej, pokuty i zadośćuczynienia za grzechy,
które najbardziej ranią Jej Niepokalane Serce. W roku 1987 została przeniesiona do Polski. Pierwszy ośrodek duchowej adopcji powstał w kościele OO Paulinów w Warszawie.
Jakie są owoce duchowej adopcji? Duchowa adopcja skutecznie leczy głębokie zranienia wewnętrzne spowodowane grzechem aborcji. Pozwala matkom odzyskać wiarę w Boże Miłosierdzie, przyno-sząc pokój ich sercom. Jako bardzo konkretny, bezin-teresowny i osobisty dar (modlitwy, ofiary i post), pomaga w szczególności ludziom młodym kształtować charakter, walczyć z egoizmem, odkrywać radość od-powiedzialnego rodzicielstwa, uzdalniając do postrze-gania miłości i seksu oczyma Boga. Systematyczna modlitwa i pozytywne działania pogłębia sens za-niedbanych praktyk ascetycznych. Może się stać czynni-kiem odrodzenia wspólnej modlitwy i miłości w rodzinie.
Czy można podejmować duchową adopcję bez dodatkowych postanowień? Tak. Dodatkowe postanowienia nie są obowiązkowe, choć adoptujący chętnie je podejmują.
Jakie mogą być dodatkowe postanowienia? Dodatkowymi postawieniami mogą być na przykład: częsta Spowiedź i Komunia Święta, adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu, czytanie Pisma Świętego, post o chlebie i wodzie, walka z nałogami, pomoc osobom potrzebującym, dodatkowe modlitwy.
Skąd pewność, że Bóg wysłucha mojej modlitwy? Naszą pewność opieramy na wierze we Wszechmoc i nieograniczone Miłosierdzie Boże. Bóg je Życia i Jego wolą jest, by każde poczęte dziecko żyło i było otoczone miłością rodziców st Dawcą. Kto może podejmować duchową adopcję. Każdy - osoby świeckie, konsekrowane, mężczyźni, kobi-ety, ludzie w każdym wieku. Jedynie dzieci podejmują ją pod opieką rodziców.
Czy duchową adopcję mogą podejmować osoby żyjące w związkach niesakramentalnych? Tak, podobnie jak i osoby rozwiedzione.
INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu. Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu. Chcielibyśmy i usilnie zalecamy, aby w naszej parafii okres przygotowania trwać sześć miesięcy. Prosimy, abyście najpierw ustalili termin w kościele, a następnie w innych miejscach. Zapraszamy więc do naszego biura parafialnego najwcześniej jak tylko jest to możliwe . Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych… Prosimy o kontakt z księdzem w celu ustalenia terminu przyjęcia tego sakramentu. Przypominamy, że nie wolno zwlekać z udzieleniem sakramentu chorych do momentu kiedy osoba będzie nieprzytomna lub bliska śmierci. Komunia Święta dla chorych… Jeśli ktoś z was lub waszych bliskich choruje i chciałby przyjąć Komunię Świętą, to prosimy o zgłoszenie osoby chorej do biura parafialnego, do osoby odpowiedzialnej za Duszpasterstwo chorych, aby ustalić datę odwiedzin w domu.
