Thank you to these people who dedicated numerous hours in preparation for organizing and running their booths. You each helped make our Kermesse a wonderful family-friendly event.
As part of the humanitarian crisis relief effort, which began last summer due to the influx of immigrants crossing the border, Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley opened the Humanitarian Respite Center located at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 306 South 15th Street, McAllen, Texas. The center provides a place for refugees to rest, have a warm meal, shower, and change into clean clothing as well as receive medicine and other supplies, before continuing onto their journey.
The Respite Center is in need of group or individual volunteers to assist between the hours of 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Volunteer assistance is most needed Friday through Sunday, but volunteers are welcome any day of the week. November is the month of All Souls, when we remember in a special way all those who have been called home by God. We will remember during the month of November, and with a special All Souls’ Mass on Friday, November 20 at 6:30 pm. We will invite all families who have had funeral services for their loved ones from our parish this past year. Special remembrance envelopes are available at the church doors to write the names of your loved ones.
