Holy Redeemer School Newsletter

Dear Holy Redeemer Families, WOW! It’s been a fun filled month, especially this last week. We celebrated Catholic Schools Week by showing off how Holy Redeemer embodies the theme of Faith, Excellence and Service. Despite the snow we kicked off our week with a virtual open house for prospective families. On Monday we all enjoyed our first treat of Catholic Schools Week…a SNOW DAY! Throughout the week, we engaged in community service, faith events, and never stopped learning. We embraced our faith through prayer service, mass, and community service. We embodied the spirit of service through our Wider Circle service project. Students and families donated new or gently used textiles for those in need. Students also made cards for first responders who have been a much needed support for our community during these difficult times. We also enjoyed some much needed fun with BINGO and various themed dress down days. It was a very special week that culminated in our Virtual Awards Assembly. I also want to thank our Home and School Association for their generous gifts, lunch and the beautiful tribute video. Thank you to all parents for your unending support of HRS. We are grateful for you!

Principal’s News Lastly, I am excited to share with you our plans to expand our academic program offerings for our 4th to 8th grade students. Based on data from the Archdiocese of Washington, Prince George’s County Health Department, and most importantly the valuable feedback provided by our families we are now ready to make a limited return to the building for in-person instruction. The aim will be to bring students into the building for teacher-led instruction while adhering to social distancing guidelines. In the coming weeks, we will adjust our academic teaching schedule to accommodate the change, enhance our internet and technology capabilities, and expand our cleaning regimen and routine to reflect the additional students and teachers set to enter the building. The full details of the plan are still being outlined so expect a letter in the near future with more information and relevant next steps. In the meantime, I wanted to share this good news with you in anticipation of your continued support and prayers for the health and wellness of our entire community. Blessings, Mrs. Fernandez

Mrs. Katrina Fernandez, Principal Fr. Mark Smith, Pastor
