TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager Process Designer

There are no features for this component in this release.

TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager Repository Designer

• Custom Import - Support for importing custom XML metadata has been added.

• Direct Deployment - Support for direct deployment of repository metadata on to CIM server has been added.

TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager Rulebase Designer

This is a new TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager Studio component.

Release 2.1The following are new features in this release.


• Workflow Samples and Service Definitions - The Workflow Samples and Service Definitions (WSDL) are updated to support TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 8.0 and 8.0.1.


• New Graphical Designer - The Repository Designer now uses a new Graphical editor, customized towards editing TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 8.0 and later models.

• Multi value and relationship attributes - Support for multi-value and relationship attributes (new features in TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 8.0) has been added.

• CIM 8.0 Metadata import - Import from TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 8.0 metadata is now available.

• Migration from CIM Studio 2.0 - Migration support from the Repository Designer in CIM Studio 2.0 has been added.

Release 2.0The following are new features in this release.


• Drag and Drop activity assignment - Activity types are now associated with a Web Services specification (WSDL) and allow drag and drop activity assignment.

• Input/Output mapping - Local activity parameters are now mapped in a dedicated mapping control. This includes all possible type of mappings including constant, variable, xpath, and rule.

• XPATH expression builder - There is now content help available for building mlXML based xpath expressions. You can either use the content help which suggests possible alternatives while typing xpath expressions OR you can expand an mlXML document variable in a tree form and map a sub node to a source expression.

• Network deployment - Deploying and undeploying workflows is now possible directly over the network, which does not require exporting an executable workflow file to a local file system.


• Graphically Design Repository Models - Design Repository Models graphically using drag and drop; entire model is displayed in an intuitive view. The Model includes Repositories, Relationships (cross repository as well as self relationships) and Repository Attributes.

• Export Repository Model - Export Repository Models suitable for import into the CIM Engine.

• Repository Model Validation - The Repository Model is validated to ensure a valid model and errors are displayed in a context sensitive location.

Migration and Compatibility

This section explains how to migrate from a previous release to this release.

Release 2.1


For working with TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager 8.0 or later, it is recommended to take the new and updated samples available.


Models created with the previous version of the Repository Designer have to be migrated with the Repository Designer Migration Wizard.

Release 2.0


The storage format has changed from version 1.x to 2.0 and all xpdl files in existing projects have to be migrated to the new file format. There is a quick fix in the problem section available for this purpose.

Summary If an imported CIM process has superfluous or invalid transitions, it will trigger a validation error (Gateway cannot mix conditional/default and event/uncontrolled output flows).

Workaround This error occurs due to unused or non-executable transitions from an activity. To fix this, delete the default transition from the XOR gateway in which the error occurs and reconnect the uncontrolled transition to the immediate predecessor of that XOR gateway. The immediate predecessor could be a service task or an XOR gateway. After this, delete that XOR gateway.

Workaround Show or hide individual compartments by selecting the menu Filter -> Show/Hide/Compartments -> name compartment only.



CIMS-675 Summary In an included rulebase, the rulebase designer does not allow you to refer to the declared variables from the parent rulebase.

Workaround In the included rulebase, define a variable with the same name as the one in the parent rulebase.

CIMS-696 Summary The rulebase designer plugin does not validate the number and type of parameters passed to functions.

CIMS-705 Summary Offline Datasource import does not wok for metadata exported by TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager.

CIMS-780 Summary If a rulebase XML file containing multiple nested loops is imported into TIBCO Collaborative Information Manager Studio, the order of operators and loops is not maintained.

CIMS-816 Summary If declared variables of the same relationship type are used in two or more unrelated rules in the same project, the rulebase designer throws a validation error.
