Summit Racing McDonough, GA
Join us for another road trip! On Saturday, February 21st, we
will head to the Scratch & Dent Sale at Summit Racing in McDonough, GA. If you’ve never been there, it is a high-
performance mega-store. You can buy anything from a hex nut
to a full drive train, or just “window shop.” After visiting the
store, we’ll head out for lunch, then back to the Atlanta area.
Meet at 9 AM at:
Atlanta Marriott Northwest
200 Interstate North Parkway SE
Atlanta, GA 30339
For those of you not familiar with the hotel, it is the location
where the BOPC is held each May. It is on the corner of I-75
and I-285 on the north side of the perimeter. From there we will
all convoy down to Summit Racing in McDonough GA. For those
of you who live closer to Summit than the Marriott, you can
meet us at 10 AM at:
Summit Racing
200 King Mill Road
McDonough, GA 30253
We’ll spend 1.5 hours at Summit’s Scratch and Dent Sale. There
will be special parking set aside for us. From there we will head
to lunch at:
O.B.’s BBQ 725 Industrial Blvd
McDonough, GA 30253
Eat lunch from 11:45 to 1 PM. Depart O.B’s at 1:00 to drive
back to the Marriott, arriving back at 2 PM.
Summit Racing Goodie Bags for all who attend!!

Seems like the Winter will never end!!! But, it’s a great time to order those parts and repair the items that need repairing on your Pontiac, while there are few shows to attend.
I visited Dallas Plating in Dallas, GA this week. There are few chrome platers in Georgia and we’re lucky to have one right here in Dallas. Danny Finklestein is having his front bumper re-plated (along with a few other parts). Dallas Plating actually does the plating at their shop in Dallas. Most operators just act as jobbers and send the parts to platers like Dallas Plating.
I think it’s much better to deal direct. How about you??

World of Wheels
Chattanooga Convention Center
January 10, 2015
We had a pretty good-sized group attend the World of Wheels show. 24
people and the following Pontiacs made the trek:
1948 Pontiac - Alan Ziglin
1968 GTO - Ed Bellair
2006 GTO - Paul McGinnet
1970 GTO - Bo Dunn
1970 GTO - Jim Norman
1968 GTO - Chad Wade
1967 GTO - Mike Walling
On display front and center was a custom 1964 GTO, star of the show as far
as we were concerned. Being a custom show, the cars are rarely, if ever, driven. A
good time and good fellowship at lunch were had by all.

SEGTOA—Save The Date!
Road Trips!
By Mike Walling
I need suggestions for upcoming events for our club meetings/activities. Summit
Racing is a “go” for February, and see the following pages for March and April events.
As always, we need your input to keep things rolling!
Join us for the Scratch & Dent sale at Summit Racing in McDonough, Georgia. We’ll meet in
the Atlanta area, convoy approximately one hour south to McDonough, visit the store, grab
some barbecue for lunch, and head back. Whether you have anything in mind to buy or not,
Summit Racing is a must-see for all car guys (and gals!). See Page 1 for details!

Tech Tips—You know you have too much horsepower when…
1. The emissions test guy starts laughing as soon as you pull onto the rollers.
2. You can't drive your car in the rain.
3. Your 'significant other' is afraid to drive your car.
4. You are afraid to drive your car.
5. You spend more on tires than on food.
6. You spend more on car insurance than on house payments.
7. You look in a state police car and see a picture of your car taped to the dash.
8. You throw your underwear in the garbage rather than the hamper.
9. You have to go to the track to buy gas.
10. Your mechanic names the new wing of his shop after you.
11. Dale Jr. and Bill Elliot wave you by.
12. You can make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.
13. You're tempted to wear your fire suit just to drive to the office.
14. Red signal lights shift to green as you're approaching then shift back to red as
you're receding.
15. You arrive somewhere before you left.
16. You get pulled over for doing 155 in a 35 but the cops will let you go if they can
look under the hood.
17. You remove the $2000 stereo system to save 6 lb. of weight.
18. You are not allowed to run in the Silver State Challenge.
19. You get an anonymous phone call asking if you are interested in being in the
Cannonball Run.
20. Your face looks like you are riding a NASA centrifuge when you drive the car.
22. You need parachute braking.
23. Your 'significant other' won't even ride in the car.
24. There is no possible way to "sneak out" of your neighborhood at 6 am.
25. Your pets scramble for their hiding spots as soon as the garage door is opened.
(Pets, and all the neighbors...)
26. Family photos throughout the house are replaced with life-sized posters of your
car.
27. Fuel is delivered to your home in 55 gallon drums.
28. You carry earplugs in your car.
29. The only spot on the car which receives any regular cleaning is the windshield.
30. You find out that side mirrors don't hold up at speeds exceeding 145 mph.

From GTOAA:
“Jay Robinson is a founding member of the Northern Colorado GTO Association. Jay and his wife Mary were very instrumental in the planning and coordinating of the GTOAA Nationals
in Loveland Colorado in 2012. You probably remember Jay shuttling members around in his
golf cart, with his daughter Sara riding along.
“Sara was born with Epilepsy, and has dealt with it daily for her 10 short years of life.
Her seizures are uncontrollable, and can happen at any time, regardless of the medications
she takes.
“The Robinsons take Sara to Children's Hospital in Denver to have routine MRIs to check and make sure that nothing new has formed pertaining to her epilepsy. Their last
routine MRI in May of 2014 turned into their worst nightmare. The image showed a large
malignant tumor behind Sara's left eye, attached to her optic nerve.
“They started
chemotherapy October 13th, 2014
to try and destroy the tumor. The Chemo treatments are once a
week for 3 straight weeks, then
they take a week off. The first
treatment in the cycle is a 6 hour
infusion, then the 2nd and 3rd are
2 hours each. This has to be done for an entire year and hope it
does the job.
“Jay has insurance through
the company he works for, but as
we all know, this insurance can
never cover all the costs
associated with this type of treatment…”
It has been indicated that
Jay may have to sell his 1969
GTO Judge to help pay for these
expenses. They are in need of
every bit of monetary help they can get, and of course all of the
prayers they can get for Sara.
The Robinsons have set up
a donation site through Go Fund
