Section 2: Course Objectives
1. Course Behavioral Objectives:
On completion of this course, the students will be able to:
1.1 Explain the concepts and principles of nursing therapeutics for pregnant
women who are at risk for complications throughout all the stages of
normal spontaneous vaginal delivery and the implementation of appropriate
nursing care management;
1.2 Explain the concepts and principles of nursing therapeutics for pregnant
women who are at risk for complications throughout all the stages of birth
by instruments and the implementation of appropriate nursing care
management and the care of the patient during post partal period including
the family members alike;
1.3 Assess and interpret the status of post partum women with complications

To better implement the appropriate nursing management to both mother
and the newborn who are high risk and risk for complications.
Section 3: Course Description and Implementation
1. Course Description
Midwifery II introduces concepts and principles of nursing
therapeutics for pregnant women who are at risk for developing complications
throughout all the stages of normal spontaneous vaginal delivery and births by
instruments, post partum nursing care management and newborns with
complications using the nursing process with emphasis on the care rendered and
collaboration of family members within legal limitations; nurses application of
code of ethics in order to maintain and protect the physical, psychological,
social and spiritual well-being of individuals, groups, families and communities.
