Faith Can Move Mountains

Matthew 17:20

Observing Lent with our parish community Lent is a time for penance and repentance, for almsgiving and prayer, for working to change attitudes. This should be reflected in what we do at home, at work, at school, and in our leisure. It is also good to support one another in these practices in our parish community. So here are a few ideas for you to consider: Prayer:

Sunday Mass provides the basic orientation for Lent. Why not try to attend Mass every Sunday throughout Lent?

Weekday Mass is a good way to root our days in the love of the Lord, from which we are sent forth to love our neighbor. Weekday Masses are listed in the parish bulletin and posted on the Web site.

On Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. (Began: March 8) we will have the Stations of the Cross in the church.

Fasting: During Lent, we could refrain from some food, from a drink, from a

party, from a form of entertainment as a gesture of solidarity with those who have no choice in these matters. You may want to take part in a hunger meal (a very simple dinner such as a soup, or rice and beans) every Friday evening at 6:00 pm in the basement of St. Mark’s, right before the Stations of the Cross. At that meal, we donate the amount we would have spent on dinner to Development and Peace, so that others might benefit from our fast.

Almsgiving Almsgiving says that we care for others even to the point of depriving

ourselves from something. All are invited to join in the Development and Peace Share Lent collection. April 7th, 2019

Development and Peace - Share the journey the Rohingyas of Myanmar Facing persecution and violence, 723,000 Rohingyas have fled Myanmar since August 2017 and taken refuge across the border, in neighbouring Bangladesh. Development and Peace’s long-time partner Caritas Bangladesh is working hard to restore some dignity to these people who simply yearn to live in peace. Thanks to your donations, Caritas Bangladesh has been able to provide temporary shelters, access to clean water, safe latrines and showers for women and girls, and hygiene kits, and to raise awareness among refugees about safety issues.Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of the Rohingya! devp.org/give Full Moon Gatherings in Gatineau Park What brings you joy? Where do you feel most at peace? When does your mind quiet down long enough to listen to what’s calling you? Join Angela Mione in cultivating a greater connection with your inner self within the tranquility of nature. Angela is hosting monthly multi-sensory evening experiences in Gatineau Park to welcome the full moon. As you walk along the path, you will be introduced to the Japanese practice of ‘Forest Bathing’ known as Shinrin-Yoku, experience a walking meditation; and then conclude the evening with a warm drink around the bonfire. This activity is largely done in silence; therefore, it is not intended for those who wish to bring their younger children or four-legged family members. The path is flat and a total walking distance of 4km. The gathering will last approximately 2 hours. For more information on the time, location and what to bring with you, please contact Angela at (613) 286-5652 or [email protected].
