• Project will provide an uninterrupted, high capacity railway connection between Europe and Asia through a tube crossing across the istanbul Strait

• 2.5 Billion USD• highly environment-friendly project

The entire upgraded and new railway system will be approximately 76 km long.


TCDD – Turkish State Railways

Ministry of Transport carries out the Govermentlevel coordination and supervision of TCDD.

Operate, enlarge and renew the railways, ports and piers delivered to it by the state

Manufacture rolling stock and similar vehicles, set up warehouses, depots and passenger facilities;

Undertake railway construction works home and abroad

Ankara-Istanbul High-Speed Train Project

• Reduce Ankara-Istanbul railway transportation to three hours, (it is currently 6-7 hours)

• 628 Million €

• The Ankara-Istanbul high-speed train service is expected to be launched in 2008

• Increase the share of railway transportation between Istanbul and Ankara from 10 % to 78 %
