Audition Sessions Principal Auditions Mon, Dec 7 (3:30 – 5:30pm) Tues, Dec 8 (6:00 – 8:00pm) Wed, Dec 9 (3:30 – 5:30pm) Callbacks Thurs, Dec 10 (3:30 – 5:30pm) Fri, Dec 11 – Weather Backup Audition Sessions Ensemble Only Mon, Dec 7 (3:30 – 4:30pm) Tues, Dec 8 (6:00 – 7:00pm) Wed, Dec 9 (3:30 – 4:30pm) Performances Thursday, March 17 (7:30pm) Friday, March 18 (7:30pm) Saturday, March 19 (7:30pm) Sunday, March 20 (2:30pm) Audition Information Everyone auditioning for the Tippecanoe Theatre Program production of Urinetown – The Musical will be expected to attend one audition session. Please read information below and prepare for your audition accordingly. Sign up for auditions at the theatre box office, during the week prior to auditions. Principal Auditions – Please read the character breakdown so that you are familiar with the characters. You will be expected to sing one of the identified songs from Urinetown – The Musical for the initial audition. Additional songs have been identified for callbacks as well. Memorization of lyrics is strongly recommended, as it will make for a better audition. We will be listening for correct pitch, rhythm, and tone quality of your voice as well as how well you communicate the lyrics. Principal callbacks should be expected as we work to coordinate roles. Please make sure you are available for the scheduled callback session if requested. Ensemble Auditions – Roles not identified on the character breakdown are ensemble roles and only require that a student sing the melody to “I See a River” (measures 1 – 18) individually for vocal placement. Those students opting for an ensemble audition will not be eligible for any principal casting or solos during the production. Auditioning for the ensemble does not guarantee casting. General Notes – The tentative rehearsal schedule is included in this packet. Please review it, as all rehearsals are mandatory. No conflicts will be permitted in the final three weeks of the production. Actors are not called to every rehearsal – only when required. The ensemble, for example, is limited to Tues/Thurs when possible. Given the nature of a theatrical production, any conflicts with rehearsals, even with other school activities can be detrimental to the participant and the entire cast. Conflicts may deter casting so please review this schedule closely before committing to the production through auditions. What to Bring to Auditions – Please bring a detailed schedule of all conflicts between Jan 3 – March 20, a completed audition form (submitting an incomplete form may prevent you from being cast in the production), and a signed theatre policies and expectations form. Wear clothes you can dance in. What to Expect at Auditions – Sing an excerpt prepared from the show or the selected ensemble option. Ensemble auditions will be done as a group. If you are auditioning for a principal role, your vocal solo will be done alone in a room, and you will also be asked to complete cold readings from the script in a group. If You Have Been Cast in a Role – The cast list will be posted on TippDrama.com by 9pm on Sunday, December 13 th and the theatre callboard on Monday, December 14 th . Thursday, December 17 th , the principal characters will attend a read- through of the full musical. There will be a mandatory cast meeting for high school cast members on Monday, January 4 th when scripts will be distributed and the direction of the production discussed. Participation Fees – All members of the cast of the musical will need to pay the district’s $35 participation fee for the musical. All fees must be paid to the high school office by Friday, February 5 th .
