Company Double Ring Mineral Resources Position Mining Operations Director Timeframe 2010 – 2011
Experience Obtained
As a Mining Operations Director, he assisted working with geologists in prospecting the Double Ring’s Piet Retief anthracite reserves in Mpumalanga. He was responsible for the mining of alluvial diamonds at Schweizer-Reneke in the North West province and was part of the gold project at Derdepoort in Limpopo near the Botswana border. He was part of the progress monitoring team in their application for Prospecting Rights, including the coal reserves in the Parys area of the Free State province. He represented Double Ring Mineral Resource in Kucan Enterprise (Kucan Mine) as an Operations Director.
Company Sasol Mining Limited – Twistdraai Colliery Position Shaft Manager Timeframe 2006 – 2010
Experience Obtained
Moeketsi was the Shaft Manager of Twistdraai Central which was part of Twistdraai Colliery He was responsible for production targets; costs control; quality of coal; environmental control; and health and safety of the workers, as well as job satisfaction and positive morale of the people. His shaft had four Continuous Miner sections with the total production target being 310,000 tonnes. There were 190 permanent employees and 110 contractors at the mine.
Mining Engineer: Mr Sekhokoane provided long-term life of mine plans. This included mine resource planning; identifying reserves to be mined; and liaising with different stakeholders. Mr Sekhokoane was responsible for sourcing mines. Technical Services Manager: He started as the technical services manager of Impunzi Division and later became the technical services manager of the newly formed South Stock Division performing short-term to medium-term planning of resources, including production; costs monitoring; human, machinery, and also monitoring other performance areas like safety, health and quality. He was liaising with mine surface farmers. Acting Section Manager: Moeketsi acted as an underground section manager at Arthur Taylor Colliery where his responsibilities

included production targets, costs control and health and safety. He was part of the team that prepared both South Witbank Colliery and Arthur Taylor Colliery for the Xstrata Plc Sustainability 17 Standards, which were internal and external audits. The audit entailed amongst other things planning and resource management, risk and change management, incident management, project management and emergency, crisis and business continuity evaluation of compliance. Mine Overseer: He was appointed at Phoenix Colliery due to production shortfalls, the development of a section that was to intercept adits from the opencast highwall and the development of the 4-Seam from the middle of the incline shaft which was access to the 1-Seam. The latter two projects were successfully completed and there was also an improvement of the Colliery in safety and production.

Mr Sekhokoane was appointed to lead a new team that formed the third production section of the Arthur Taylor Colliery Opencast Mine coaling department. He was transferred to the Dragline and Pre-Strip Department and was later sent to Tavistock Colliery were he acted as an underground Mine Overseer before becoming an Outbye Shift Overseer. As a Shift Overseer he participated in the building of underground bunkers (box-holes) and the rehabilitation of the 2-Seam.

At the South Witbank Colliery, Mr Sekhokoane’s tasks included providing fiery mines and opencast blasting tickets and being rotated around all departments, including the process plant, safety, survey, human resources. During this period he was appointed as an underground shift overseer at South Witbank Colliery. He was also trained the 20 Keys (TAV 2000) which is a Japanese model for production improvement and became the coordinator thereof.

He was the organizer of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in the Westonaria Region, organizing gold mines such as Kloof, Lebanon, Ventersdorp, Westonaria and Randfontein Estates. He was involved in conflict resolution and wage negotiations with the mine management and had to represent employees in dismissals and retrenchments. He was given a scholarship by NUM in 1990 to study mining engineering in Cuba.
