He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. – The Magnificat (Luke1:52-53)

Through the birth and life of Jesus, God revealed a priority for the poor and oppressed, for the hungry and those who had been rendered voiceless. It’s evident that as followers of Christ, our priorities get reordered, especially during a season that encourages excess and indulgence. That’s why we need reminders of what it means to have the mind and heart of Christ. It is certainly a time to celebrate, but what purposes will our celebration practices hold?

Stop Hunger Now has prepared “The Gift of Life” Advent materials to make your countdown to Christmas a season of growing awareness of how fun and easy it can be to feed our brothers and sisters around the world. We also hope the scriptures and activities will educate young and old as to how a little set aside with great intention does indeed add up. Our meals are saving lives, providing for many their only meal of the day. By the time Christmas rolls around, we anticipate you will know the gift of giving the gift of life and wellness.
