Report on NFC Flats
We have visited frame structure site NFC flats by NFC residential. Construction was under process. It had four different phases and only in one phase ground floor up to roof was completed. And for the other three phases foundation was being laid.
Isolated columns footings were used there to carry the load of the superstructure to the ground soil. Excavation was made 4 feet deep below the natural surface level.
Concrete used in foundation was high strength concrete having strength more than 6000 psi.
MATERIALSIn the construction, following materials were used related to concrete works in site.
Cement :
Mostly ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was being used
at the site. For some concrete sulphate resisting cement
(SRC) was also used.
Aggregate:
Aggregates used were Margalla and Sargodha.
Sand:
Sand used were Lawrencepur and Chenab.
Steel:
Bars used at different portions were of different numbers such as #3, #4, #8.
Different brands like Mughal and prime steel bars were used by the contractor.
MIXINGConcrete mixing was being carried out by concrete
mixer machines placed at different positions near
the construction on the site.
BATCHINGBatching of the concrete was being done by the small hand trolleys.
TRANSPORTATIONThe concrete materials are transported from the market, plant by the help of tractor trolleys, while at the site small trolleys are used for this purpose at same floor but for transportation at different floors, the concrete lifter driven by electric motors is being used.
COMPACTION
Compaction was being done by
vibrators in the column just after
pouring concrete in the columns.
And on the floors compaction was
being carried out by hand compactors.
FORMWORK AND SHATTERING
For the formwork of slabs and stairs
Steel plates were being used and for
Supporting the formwork, Bamboos
As shattering were utilized at the site.

Report on Tariq Hall, UET We have visited site at Tariq Hall,UET Lahore, under constructionby HEC. We met with contractorat the site regarding knowledgeof concreting in construction. Shattering and formwork werebeing laid. And also steel cutting, fixing and bending was underprocess.
MATERIALSIn the construction, following materials were used related to concrete works in site.
Cement :
Pioneer Cement , Lucky Cement, Pak and maple leaf cement were
present
Aggregate:
Margalla, Sakhi Sarwar
Sand:
Chenab Sand is used for plastering and Aerosine Sand (from Abbottabad) used for other concrete works like columns, slab and foundations etc.
Steel:
#3, #4, #8 steels are being used as reinforcement in RCC concrete. Brand of the steels used were mostly Mughal.
MIXINGConcrete mixing is done by concrete mixers at the site. Ratio of the concrete was defined by the designer as per the requirement of the structure.
In column concrete ratio is 1:1.5:3 by using the volume batching of concrete and in slab it is 1:2:4.
Isolated foundations are used fortransferring load of the structure to the ground.
BATCHINGThe batching is mostly done byvolume. The small hand driventrolleys are used for this purpose.
TRANSPORTATIONThe concrete materials are
transported from the market, plant by the help of tractor trolleys, while at the site small trolleys are used for this purpose at same floor but for transportation at different floors, the concrete lifter driven by electric motors is being used.
COMPACTIONThe compaction
was done by the compactors.
Robin Small Compactor was used for compaction of concrete in
column after pouring. Tamping Hammer
is used for compacting excavations of GSL
and floors of building, Similar work is done on large scale by the Heavy Hand Compactor.
FORMWORKThe formwork of steel platesis utilized for slab concreting.
For columns, the formwork was just laid and also pouring for some of the columns was just completed and curing was being done by putting wet bags on the columns.
Steel fixing for the slabs and stairs.
Steel fixing in the formwork of the slabs was being carried out. Most of the slabs were one way.
