Secretary’s CornerWow, it is hard to believe I have completed 3 years as Secretary for Lodge #981.
It has been a difficult decision that was not easily made, however; it is time for me to move on. I will be spending more time with my Real Estate Business in Indiana and Florida, and more quality time with my family and grandchildren. Thanks for your support electing me to this office; it was a great experience that will not soon be forgotten.
Congratulations to your new Secretary, PER Ed Hodge. Ed will do a fantastic job for this lodge, just as he has proven this most recent lodge year as your Exalted Ruler. Ed, if I can assist you in any way, please do not hesitate to let me know.

e.r.’s soapboxYou realize your time as Exalted Ruler is approaching the end when you write your last ER soapbox. For me, this is the last one. Finished, out of here. You get the gist.
We had some wonderful and fun events at the lodge in February starting with out Shrimp and Fish Fry on Feb. 1. Thanks to our wonderful crew of Ray Kocoj, Dan Sapp, Jay Murzyn, Rich Moskalick, Priscilla Perez, Bernie Beda, Dan George, Chet Balzer Jr., Jim Bartoszek and Luci Hodge.
Our Lodge Super Bowl Dinner on Feb. 2 was a great time. Thanks to the committee of Don Wells, Brian Gluth, Mike Mordus, Ray Kocoj, Harry Kalaharios, Rich Moskalick and Jim Bell. Special thanks to Kevin Peterson who donated a pair of Cubs vs. White Sox tickets to raffle with the proceeds going to the lodge. The Super Bowl pot luck the next day was equally as fun.
We had a nice crowd at the Fat Tuesday Dinner Feb. 12. Chef Harry Kalaharios prepared the meal. It was absolutely delicious. Thanks to Chet Balzer Jr., Rich Moskalick and Luci Hodge for helping.
The Reverse Raflle and Night at The Races Feb 16 was a blast. Everyone who attended had a great time. Thanks to Dave Barsic and Ray Luniewski for chairing the event. Thanks to Dan Bogusz and Arnie Vierk for all their work on the tickets. Rick Moskalick and Jim Bell for handling the admissions and Gayle Luniewski and Becky Scoleri for working the table. Congratulations to all the winners.
I have a few other events in Feb. and March but because of print deadlines, I cannot give a few lines to them and their workers until the next month. I’ll make certain our new ER Chris Kirincic gets the information. One last item, the Inauguration Dinner and Installation of our new officers on March 16 is $20 per person, not $15.
It has truly been an honor to have been Exalted Ruler this year for the lodge. Any lodge is as good as their members which means our lodge is number one with me. I want to thank everyone who has helped at the lodge no matter what it was. Everyone is important.
May God bless our members, their families, those who are sick, our military and this great country of ours.
