Graduation Day for the First batch of engineering students under autonomous status was celebrated in a grand style on 4 th June, 2015. More than 500 first batch students of AITS have received their B. Tech degrees. Prof. Lal Kishore, Honorable Vice-Chancellor JNTUA Ananthapuramu attended as the Chief Guest and gave away the certificates to all the students. On this occasion Prof. Lal Kishore has appreciated the management of Annamacharya Educational Trust for providing quality engineering education since 1998. He said “today is the celebration of hard work with focus, determination and discipline. Your teachers have done their best to help you by encouraging and motivating you to perform well and achieve the end result. Your parents have made many sacrifices in the last few years and provided you with the enabling environment at home, moral and financial support to help you succeed.” Advising students he continued “It is not enough to simply try and get by in life—that does not move the world forward—you must strive to excel in everything you do— excellence in every task, large or small. Andhra Pradesh Skills Development Centre was formally inaugurated online by Honorable Chief Minister Sri N. Chandra Babu Naidu on 19th January. AITS is among the 17 colleges chosen for this honor across the state. Mr. C. Abhishek, Treasurer, AET, said that the JKC Center of AITS has already earned the distinction of Star Status and establishment of AP Skill Development Centre is yet another honor for the institute. He promised that the institute will create unique opportunities for the students to learn new skills. The center organized a workshop on Mobile Application Development from 9th January to 19th January for the students from across the state. The First Aid and Safe Drive apps developed by AITS Students were selected for the honor of best applications and were demonstrated before the Chief Minister, Sri. Chandra Babu Naidu. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director; Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal; Mr. C. Yella Reddy, Vice-chairman, AET; and Dr. A. Subramanyam, Dean expressed their happiness over this achievement.

AP Skill Development Centre inaugurated Department of Higher Education, Government of Andhra

Pradesh presented Prathibha Awards 2014 for meritorious students. These awards were given away in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister Sri. N. Chandrababu Naidu. R. Vengamma, B. Rajeswari, M. Varsha, M. Manasa, S. Sangeetha and D. Ravi Kumar received this coveted award for their excellence in studies. The recipients of the award from the college said the world class facilities provided at college, teaching by experienced faculty members, and support and encouragement by management aided them towards this accomplishment. Department of MBA and Department of MCA jointly organized 2nd National level Symposium on Computing and Management on 11th April 2015. Mr. Sudhakar, Chairman, IEEE Hyderabad Section; Mr. S. Sundar Ram, Regional Head, Sample Survey Organization; Mr. Anand Babu, Cap Gemini, Bangalore and Mr. T. Narayana Reddy from JNTUA Anantapramu graced the inaugural function of this symposium. Sri C. Gangi Reddy, the Founder, speaking on the occasion, appealed to the students to inculcate soft skills to be successful in their profession. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director AITS; Dr. S. M. V. CAREER 360 Magazine Ranking Career 360, one of the most popular magazines on education, released the list of top 100 engineering colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The list began with AAAA rating and continued with AAA+, AAA and AA+. Annamacharya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Rajampet, is given AAA rating by the magazine. AITS is the only college from Kadapa District that was included in the list of top 100 colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Department of ECE, in association with IE(India), organized a two-day national conference, NC’e-TIDES 2015, on 27th & 28th March 2015. R. Bhasha, Chairman, IE(India) Kadapa Center was invited as the Chief Guest for the Preconference Tutorial. Mr. N. Mohammad Asif, Application Engineer, Starcom Information Ltd. acted as the resource person for the Tutorial and he explained the functions of Beagle Board, a low-power open-source hardware single-board computer produced by Texas Instruments. Sri C. Yella Reddy, Treasurer, AET was the Special Guest for the inaugural function of the Preconference Tutorial. Dr. R. V. S. Sathyanarayana, S. V. University, Tirupathi, was invited as the Chief Guest for the inaugural function of the Conference on 28th March 2015. He urged the scholars and students to maintain quality and originality in their research. Sri C. Gangi Reddy, the Founder, felt that students will enhance their technical knowledge by participating the conferences and seminars of this kind. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director; Dr. S. M. V. Women Empowerment Cell grandly celebrated 104th Women’s Day on 8th March, 2015. Smt. T. Swarnalatha Devi, Nutritionist, Krishi Vidyan Kendra, Kadapa, was invited as the Chief Guest on the day. Dr. M. A Two-week Short Term Training Program on Environmental Studies was organized, in association with ISTE, from 2nd June 2015 to 12th June 2015 through video conferencing. Dr. D. V. Ravi Kumar, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, acted as workshop coordinator.

A Two-day National Seminar on “Recent Developments in Applications of Mathematics in Science & Engineering” was organized by the Department of Humanities and Sciences on 10th & 11th January 2015. Prof. Sathyajith Roy, IIT, Chennai, delivered the Keynote address. Sri C. Gangi Reddy, Honorable Secretary, Annamacharya Educational Trust, opined seminars of this kind are the need of the hour for broadening our knowledge and to propel further to be abreast of things happening. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director, said that technology and science are dependent on Mathematics and its applications are crucial to develop new technologies. Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal, said that teaching is more than imparting knowledge. It should be aimed at inspiring change. He added learning is not just absorbing facts, it is acquiring understanding and transforming it to knowledge. Dr. M. C. Raju, the Convener, felt that the collective deliberations will enrich the participants and enable them explore new domains of applications in the field of Mathematics. A total number of 153 papers were received out of which 71 papers were selected for presentation during the two day seminar.

Mr. Immanuel Nicosia, a famous car designer from Italy, conducted a workshop titled “Automotive Designing and Styles” for Mechanical Engineering students from 10th January 2015. In this workshop, introduction to Automotive Design and Process, Package and Car Segments, Car Architecture, and Common Platform case study were explained elaborately by Mr. Immanuel Nicosia, involving the students in interaction. Modern concepts in designing a future-ready car that is pollution free were discussed in the workshop. Also, Mr Nicosia tried to demonstrate car segments, design of sedan cars and interior and exterior design of a car. Mr. C. Gangi Reddy, the Founder; Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director; Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal and Prof. N. Sivarami Reddy, Head, Dept. of ME spoke at the valedictory ceremony.

A fortnight workshop on “Teaching in Engineering by the Use of Information and Communication Technologies” was conducted by ISTE through video conferencing from 5th January 2015. Prof. Sreedhar Ayyar and Prof. Shana Murthy, IIT, Mumbai acted as resource persons for the training programme. 33 engineering faculty members from the neighbouring colleges participated in the workshop. Prof. M. Subba Rao, Head, Dept. of IT, coordinated the event. K. Ramana, Assistant Professor, IT, was the remote center coordinator.

17th Sports and Cultural Day was celebrated on 31st March 2015. A display of dancing skills and athletic skills, along with loads of fun and excitement, marked the celebrations. Sri Choppa Gangi Reddy, the Founder of Annamacharya Educational Trust, was the chief guest for the celebrations. Sri Abhishek, Treasurer of Annamacharya Educational Trust, Sri Yella Reddy, Vice-Chairman of the Trust attended the celebrations as special guests. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director, AITS; Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal, AITS, also spoke on the occasion. Various games, including cricket, volleyball, basketball, ball badminton, caroms, chess and athletic events were held earlier. A number of events, including dances, singing competition, fancy dress competition and sports and games have been conducted for teachers. Prizes to the winners of these events were given away on the day by the distinguished guests. Following the prize distribution, students took to the stage for a scintillating dance performance depicting the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Several sizzling dance performances followed. Prof. M. Subba Rao, Coordinator of Cultural Association looked after the conduct of this grand event.

Sports and Cultural Day Celebrations

Trident Tech Labs, Hyderabad, conducted a training programme on VLSI Design Methodology using Mentor Graphics Tool on 27th and 28th January for the benefit of teachers, scholars and students. This training programme was hosted by IE(India) Student Chapter of the college. Mr. K. Suresh Kumar, Assistant Manager (Technical), Trident Techs Labs, attended as the Chief Guest for the inaugural session. He explained in detail the importance of this graphics tool and the method of using it. Dr. Narayana, the Prinicpal, also addressed the audience during the inaugural session. Prof. Abdul Rahim, Coordinator of IE (India) Student Chapter also spoke. Mr. K. Sreenivasa Rao, Convener of the event, Mr. M. Bala Dastagiri and Mr. J. Chinnababu discharged the duties of Coordinators.

Republic Day 2015 was festively celebrated on 26th January 2015. Staff and Students of the constituent colleges on the campus gathered in the ground to salute the three-coloured flag. Dr. C. Rama Chandra Reddy, Chairman, Annamacharya Educational Trust, enjoyed the honour of hoisting the flag on the day. Dr. S. M. V. Narayna, Prinicipal, AITS; Dr. P. Chittibabu, Principal, APGCCS; Dr. C. Gopinath, Principal, ANCP, Dr. B. Jayarami Reddy, Principal, ANCE and Mr. Ramesh Reddy, Principal, RCE graced the occasion with their presence. In the meantime, the Chairman gave away the prizes to the winners in the Republic Day Competitions.

An awareness campaign on Entrepreneurship was conducted on 18th March 2015 for the benefit of final year B. Tech. M.B.A. and M.C.A. students. Mr. G. Gopal, General Manager, District Industry Center, was invited as the Chief Guest. While addressing the students, he said that a country can develop only when industrial sector of the country is improved. He urged the students to be aware of the market before entering business. Mr. Sri Nagesh, Senior Manager, Syndicate Bank, also addressed the students and explained the loan facilities being offered to entrepreneurs by banks. Mr. A. Chandrasekhar Rao, E.P.O. of Rajampet, also spoke. Dr. G. Prabhakara Rao, Director, AITS; Dr. Narayana, Principal, AITS; Mr. C. Yella Reddy, Vice-chairman, AET; Prof. Madarvalli and Dr. M. An Awareness Programme on Entrepreneurship

Every two seconds, a road accident takes place, and every four seconds a person dies due to a road accident, somewhere in the world. These figures were given out by the Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. M. Damodar Naidu at a student awareness programme on road safety on 21st January 2015. Damodar Naidu, in his presentation, pointed out that 40 per cent of the fatalities in accidents concerning two-wheelers are due to not wearing of helmets. Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal; and Mr. C. Yella Reddy, Vice-chairman, also spoke.

“Dream your future and materialize it” said Yandamuri Veerendranth, famous fiction writer and personality development trainer in a two day training programme on “Personality Development” on 8th & 9th January 2015. He urged the students to dream, to set goals and try to reach them with systematic planning and hard work. According to him, every student is grateful to his parents. NSS Special Camp

The NSS Unit of AITS organized a special camp in New Boyanapalli from 30th March to 5th April 2015. Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, Principal, AITS, graced the inaugural function of the special camp. Dr. L. Obulapathi, NSS Program Officer, thanked the college management for their support.

AITS Cultural Association, conducted Rangoli competitions to the students as part of Pongal celebrations on 8th January 2015. Large number of students showed their interest to participate in this event. P. Nageswari, III EEE bagged the first prize, G. Ganga Bhavani, IV ECE; P. Naveena, I M.B.A secured second and third prizes respectively. Prof. M. Subba Rao, In-charge, Cultural Association of AITS, coordinated the conduct of the event.

A Two-Day Workshop Quadcopter was conducted by Times Global Com Institute affiliated to IIT-ECL on 15th March 2015 for EEE, ME, and ECE students. The students learnt about the components required to build a quadcopter, assembling and flying a quadcopter, and its functionality. Also, competitions were held at the college for the registered students and the qualified were given an opportunity to participate in national level competitions held at IIT, Delhi, in the month of April. Mr. Amith Mishra, Mr. Abhay, Mr. Chandra Mohan and Mr. Yeswanth from Times Global acted as resource persons. Prof. N.Sivarami Reddy, Head, Dept. of ME; Prof. M. Padmalalitha, Head, EEE; Prof. Abul Rahim, Head, ECE; and other staff attended inaugural session. Sri Choppa Yella Reddy, Vice-chairman, AET thanked Times Global Com for training the students and he added that a few programs of this kind would enhance the knowledge of the students.

Prof. Asmelash Abraham Mengistu, from Ethiopia, visited the college on 19th February 2015 as part of his visit to reputed engineering institutions in India. Along with Prof. Mengistu, Prof. Krishnamurthi, Dept. of M.B.A., JIGJIG University of Ethiopia, also visited the campus. The Ethiopian delegation observed the infrastructural facilities, laboratories, hostels, and library and expressed their satisfaction. Sri C. Dr. L. Hari Krishna, Assistant Professor of Mathematics in H&S Department, AITS presented a paper on “Hall Current Effects on Unsteady MHD Flow on a Rotating Parallel Plate Channel Bounded by Porous Bed on the Lower Half-Darcy Lapwood Model” in IMRF World Research Congress 2015, Thailand. The international conference was organized by International Multi-disciplinary Research Foundation at Pattaya in Thailand from 25th May to 29th May, 2015. Dr. L. Hari Krishna was honored with the best research paper award.

Mr. B. Bala Nagendra Prasad, Assistant Professor of English, Department of Humanities and Sciences was conferred on Doctor of Philosophy by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur, for his research titled “Thematic Concerns in the Novels of Bhabani Bhattacharya”. Faculty Excellence - PhD Awards Mr. Asif Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, was conferred on Doctor of Philosophy by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur, for his research titled “A Novel Approach for Medical Image Reconstruction for Cancerous Legion Detection”. His research was supervised by Prof. D. Satyanarayana, Head, RGM College of Engineering, Nandyal.

Mallikarjuna Rao, Head, Department of MCA, was conferred on Doctor of Philosophy by Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, for his research titled “Sliding Window Algorithm for improving Throughput of Mobile Switching Centers in Global System for Mobile Communication Networks”. Bosch, conducted an online examination as part of its campus recruitment drive for 2015 undergraduates on 12th May 2015. More than 100 students appeared for the exam and the qualified students attended interview at Bosch, Hyderabad. Mr. Vinay Singh, Co-cubes Consultancy, visited the campus to conduct the examination. The management members of the college expressed their happiness over the recruitment. Mr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Placement Officer, coordinated the event.

Focus Academy for Career Enhancement, Chennai, conducted a recruitment drive on 8th April 2015 for the final year engineering and management students. Mr. Harish and Mr. Narendran from FACE conducted this drive. Among the 200 students that took the test, 13 students were appointed by the company. Mr. Abhishek, Executive Director of AET; Dr. Prabhakara Rao, Director of AITS; Dr. Narayana, Principal of AITS; and Mr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Placement Officer expressed their happiness over the achievement of the students.

The students and the staff of AITS extended their helping hand by organizing a fund raising campaign and donated Rs. 3,12,542/- to the victims of Hudhud Cyclone which wreaked a havoc in the city of Vishakapatnam. The cyclone devastated the normal life in the city, unleashing widespread destruction and brought the bustling city of nearly 20 lakh people to a sudden halt. The staff gave away one day salary towards the relief fund. The fund was handed over to Mr. Velkurin Prabhakar Pillai, RDO of Rajampet, on 10th January 2015 by the Founder, Sri C. Gangi Reddy, who appreciated this noble gesture from AITS community.
