Block Watch is coming soon!

We have a volunteer for 148th Pl SE to be Block Watch Captain. As soon as we receive the Block Watch Tree for this street, the Block Watch Map and Trees will be submitted to City of Kent’s Block Watch Program and Glenbrook will receive the Block Watch Neighborhood signs. The Block Watch signs will be posted at the front and back entrance to the Glenbrook Community. Additional signs may be posted at some of the park-ing lots. The Block Watch Program is a proven program that reduces crime in a Neighborhood by 65%. What is a Block Watch Captain? Have you thought about being a Block Watch Cap-tain or a back-up Block Watch Captain, but wasn’t sure what this volunteer opportunity involves? 1. A neighbor calls 9-1-1. 2. Neighbor then calls the Block Watch Captain. 3. Block Watch Captains notify the other Block

Watch Captains and the Glenbrook Office. 4. Block Watch Captains calls all neighbors with a

telephone number about the 9-1-1 call. 5. Glenbrook Office notifies all neighbors with an

e-mail address. This process keeps the neighborhood aware of any suspicious or criminal activity in the neighborhood. The hardest part for the new Block Watch Captain is getting to know their neighbors by knocking on doors, introducing themselves and asking for names, phones and e-mail addresses (this is the Block Watch tree) for notification for suspicious or criminal activity in the area. Back-up Block Watch Captains are needed because a Block Watch Captain might not be available be-cause of work or vacations. It’s important to get the word out to the neighborhood right away about any 9-1-1 calls so suspicious or criminal activity can be reduced.

If you are interested in being a Block Watch Captain or back-up Block Watch Captain, call the Glenbrook Office at 253-630-6689. Caution: Recently, even with Home Alarm & Be Aware of Dog signs and cameras, items have been stolen from various carports. Think about what you store in your carport. Trust your instincts. If you see suspicious activity or a crime being committed: 1. Call 9-1-1 2. Call Block Watch Captain* Glenbrook is Your Neighborhood. If you want a safer neighborhood, consider volunteering as a Block Watch Captain. It’s easy! *Block Watch Captains are needed for 274th Place. If you are interested in volunteering for Block Watch Captain, call the Glenbrook Office at 253-630-6689.

A beautiful yard in the Glenbrook community

Update on our Water Lines at Glenbrook We are in the process of getting a loan to completely upgrade our entire antiquated water system. As soon as we are granted the loan we will have two informational meetings. One meeting will be in the morning, and one in the evening, allowing each resident to attend according to their schedule.

Please do not allow your children to play in the wetlands. It is not safe and they could get hurt. These are official wetlands. NO ONE is allowed to enter.

DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS. Bread is unhealthy for them.

Older appliances use far more energy than new efficient models and could be racking up extra costs on your electric

bill each year. For a limited time in each community in PSE’s service area, we’ll be rounding up old, inefficient refrigerators and replacing them with a limited number of ENERGY STAR® qualified models for free. You heard that right: FREE! There is no cost for the new energy-saving refrigerators, their delivery or the removal and recycling of your old appliance. Start the process now by calling 1-877-341-2314 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

This offer is available from PSE while quantities last. They are in the King County area from April 1st - June 30th. A few of the residents at Glenbrook have already taken advantage of this offer!

Wheels Safety at Glenbrook

From Personal Safety meeting, Nov 15th, 2012

Wear my helmet when riding a bike, scooter or rollerblades in the Glenbrook neighborhood.

Ride with traffic, not against it, and use hand signals when turning. Obey all traffic signs.

Wear bright colored clothes when riding your bike or scooter so people can see you. Try not to ride when it’s dark out.

Never wear headphones when riding or skat-ing, so you can hear traffic around you.

Ride my bike on the right side of the street.

Look to the left>to the right<and to the left again, before crossing the street.

Landscape Volunteer Opportunity Do you have a green thumb? Do you enjoy finding that perfect plant for your yard? If so we are looking for someone like you to help the Glenbrook Community. Contact Sheri Olson at the office if you are interested: 253-630-6689, [email protected].

PLEASE SLOW DOWN!

Look at your speedometers. Our

speed limit is 10 MPH. We have narrower

streets, fewer sidewalks and no street easement

between sidewalk and street. 10 mph may

seem like crawling but that faster acceleration

will only get you to your destination a few sec-

onds faster and it puts our children and resi-

dents at risk.

STREETLIGHTS

Please periodically check your street light.

Bulbs burn out and occasionally lights may re-

quire new wiring to work properly.

GUEST VISITING?

If you are having a regular visitor or guests

staying with you for a few days, just give a call

to the office or drop a note in the box. You can

get a temporary parking pass for your guests

vehicle. We don’t want to accidentally tow a

vehicle that is here by permission of a resident!
