Overview

CM301 is developed to measure vibrations and heat of the targets. The sensor is Internet enabled with remote manageability over Ethernet. The sensor is powered by the PoE switch which makes separate power cabling unnecessary. The sensor can join any previously configured network and if needed its programming can be updated remotely.

Measurements and limit values

User interface program receives samples from sensors at specified sample rate. A sensor has a web page where user can download samples as an audio WAV file. WAV files can be played in any audio player or examined using audio analysis programs for time and frequency domain analysis.

Sensor web pages and Cmmm user interface program

Sensor software is under continuous development. Sensor firmware can be updated via network. Temperature, WAV download and network settings are done by sensors web-page. Cmmm GUI program is meant to manage sensors and examine signals.

Environment and electrical properties

Sensor gets it's power from Ethernet cable by Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology. Only one cable is required. To use sensor, PoE switch is needed. Sensor components are cast in Epoxy to improve hit- and vibration resistance.

Network connection

Sensor has a HTTP server that can be connected to using any Internet browser. In factory settings sensor receives IP configuration using DHCP, but can be configured to static IP address.

LEDs

There are 2 LEDs, green and yellow. Green Led (Link): Signs that Ethernet connection

is OK and power is OK. Yellow Led (Act): Ethernet traffic indicator. Sensor can be located on factory by blinking green led. This feature can set on sensor web page and it's enabled for 2 minutes.

Mounting

Fastening bolt is not solid part of sensor. When using magnet mounting, M4 adapter is needed. Magnet is attached to sensor via M4 adapter. Fastening bolt, magnet, magnet M4 adapter and standard screw are included to shipping. Adapter screw must not be too long because it can cause wrong resonances to vibration.

Note! Magnetic mounting is meant only for temporary measurements. Magnet helps to

finding right spot. Magnet does not work well with non-magnetic metals for example aluminum or RST surfaces.

Sensor communication: parameters to download WAV-file

Measurements are downloaded from sensor using HTTP GET request for /adc.wav with URL encoded parameters.

potA and potB default to values from previous request, or 128 in first request. Defaults may change in future firmware versions. It is safest to specify all parameters in every request. The response ContentType is audio/x-wave. Errors cause redirect response with status 302. The Location value has URL encoded parameters field and error to tell the field with wrong value and error code.

Parameter Value Description

sig VSIG Acceleration signal (default)

VDIFF Analog 4. derivative

freq 160 – 5000 Sampling rate Hz (default 1000)

filter 26 – 5000 Low pass filter cut-off frequency Hz (default freq/2)

count 1 – 2·109 Count of loadable samples (default 128)

time 1 sec → n. 4 days Download length by seconds (used if count not specified)

dsp NONE Sensor do not execute digital derivative (default)

D Sensor executes one derivation

D2 Sensor executes derivation twice

potB 0 – 255 Gain before filter (1x – 101x)

potA 0 – 255 Gain after filter (1x – 11x)

Error Description

1 Busy, another adc.wav download in progress.

2 Busy, some other resource in use.

3 Too small value, field tells the parameter.

4 Too large value, field tells the parameter.

5 Wrong value, field tells the parameter.

Example to download WAV-file by GET-method: http://169.254.1.1/adc.wav?freq=2000&time=5&sig=VSIG&filter=993 http://169.254.1.1/adc.wav?freq=5000&count=2048&sig=VDIFF&potB=255&potA=100 NOTICE! Upper and lower case are significant!

Sensor gain

Sensor gain is determined using this formula:

+=255

*1001*

255

*101

Cmmm GUI WAV-files

Cmmm GUI saves and opens measurements on WAV -file format. The format is PCM 16-bit 1 channel (mono). WAV -files include settings and sensor data in RIFF format LIST INFO chunk IKEY chunk. When using the LIST INFO chunk, it must be taken into account that the location and size of the LIST INFO chunk depend on sensor firmware version.

Connecting sensors to other systems

At this moment sensor can be connected to other systems by above-mentioned ways.
