Course Overview
Weatherford Petroleum Consulting is pleased to announce a two-day course, Introduction to Practical Geomechanics. This course provides an overview of basic rock mechanics and its application to practical problems encountered during the well drilling and completion process. Petroleum rock mechanics is becoming increasingly important for geomechanical earth models, well planning, design and construction in challenging drilling conditions, such as tectonically deformed areas, depleted reservoirs, tight gas sand completions, gas shales, and heavy oil production. Geomechanical concepts such as Dynamic and Static measurements, Mohr’s Circle, rock strength, anisotropy, pore pressure, and natural and induced fracturing will be covered. You will learn to apply geomechanics through the well life cycle to assess issues such as in-situ and borehole stresses, effects of stress on permeability, depletion and injection effects, wellbore stability, and more. Participants will receive an up-to-date manual with course material and some of the latest technical innovations in the industry, and demonstration of advanced geomechanical software.

Dates and Pricing June 24th–25th, 2015 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM, Daily Cost: $1500 per person, or early bird pricing of $1300 before May15th, 2015.The seminar will be in the training room on the 12th floor of the Weatherford Canada Office, 333 5th Ave. S.W., Calgary, Alberta.
