HEAVERS FARM and SELSDON PRIMARY SCHOOLS PARENT AND CARER LEARNING NEWSLETTER Year: Nursery Autumn Term 1 2016 Dear parents and carers, Welcome to Fox Cubs Nursery 2016 -17! Over this half term the children will be learning a range of new skills both academically and socially. Our main topic this term will be ‘All about me’ and below are the areas of learning we will be focusing on and the activities we will be doing within the subject areas. Please speak to your teacher if there is anything you are unsure about. Communication and language development The children will be learning to listen and talk in small groups. The children will also be able to bring in a small object on a weekly basis for a show and tell activity. Personal and Social development The main focus of our learning will be understanding and following the nursery rules and expectations to help the children feel safe and secure during their time in nursery. English The children will be listening to a range of stories and will then be encouraged to retell the stories in their own words. The children will also be listening to sounds within Maths During this term the children will be learning about numbers through songs and practical activities. The children will also be looking for numbers in their local environment.
