Kia ora Parents, Whanau, and Caregivers, We hope everyone spoiled their Mum’s during the weekend for Mother’s Day. This week is very busy and at the time that the newsletter is sent out this week I am with the senior school on camp at Okataina feeling at home in my Hunting and Fishing polar eece ;) The school is certainly a little bit quieter this week minus our Year 5 and 6 students. We know that they will all be having an outstanding time and will return well and truly richer for the experience. We would like to thank all of the parents who have given of their time to support camp this week and look forward to sharing some photos in next weeks newsletter. Naku noa ra, Nik House - Principal Newsletter # 13 Wednesday 15th May, 2013 School Roll 281 Winter Uniform With the weather changing we are starting to have colder mornings. However, at this time of year when the days can still be warm, we always see an increase in “found” property around the school. We have had so many jerseys le around the playground due to children removing them when they get hot and forgetting about them. We are lucky that our children are honest and trustworthy and return property to the “Found Property” trolley. However, this is not helpful when clothing is not named. We would strongly recommend that families name all children’s school uniform with your child’s name, even if it is second hand property. This way any found property can be easily returned to its owner ;) With the onset of winter and in the name of staying warm, girls may wear plain black or navy tights under the Skort and children may wear a plain navy blue long sleeve top under the shirt for warmth, such as a polypro. School winter pants can be purchased from NZ Uniforms. We would also like to acknowledge the pride many of our children take in wearing our school uniform. We encourage a high standard of presentation and want our tamariki to feel proud as they wear our uniform and represent our school, both at school and out and about. Thanks for your ongoing support. WELCOME BAY SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES ELECTION - 2013 Nominations have been called for 5 positions on the Board of Trustees. We Need Your HelpIn our front court yard area of the school we have some amazing mosaic tables, each one representing our Welcome Bay learning attributes. Over time and with some help from the weather the grouting has eroded and many of the tiles have come off. We would like to repair the tables and stick the tiles back on with a stronger adhesive that will weather well and we need some grown up support to do this. If you have some spare time available and can offer some support, please let Mr House know and we will make a suitable time to begin the work along with the help of our children. We really appreciate your support ;)
