A Note from the Administrator...

Dear friends, Twice now some of you have wanted to purchase images and statues and place them in our church. I have put off these requests because: 1) The Church has guidelines and directives about church architecture and decoration. 2) Our parish has no coherent overall plan for the church, to make sure everything fits together and doesn’t look like a hodge-podge. I will be consulting with our liturgical leadership group about developing a plan for our church interior … and then we can think about additions, rearrangements, etc. Some things about our church building are truly beautiful (general shape, altar, some of the windows), while others are just average (pulpit, baptismal font, sanctuary arrangement, etc.).

Pope Paul VI stated that “art is meant to bring the divine to the human world, to the level of the senses. Then, from the spiritual insight gained through the senses and the stirring of the emotions, it raises the human world to God, to his inexpressible kingdom of mystery, beauty, and life.” A church building with a few well-chosen images … and furnishings that are truly beautiful and moving … is better than a church with dozens of poor-quality art pieces that don’t fit together or move hearts. So … we’ll proceed slowly and try to develop a coherent plan first. Peace, All Good! Fr. Mike PS An update on our “Youth Loft.” We appealed for good-condition used coaches, and have gotten three so far. We have also received some checks from people who believe in the good work being done with our young people. We’re still hoping for more couches, and a little more $$$ to cover the remodel. Also … while I’m fishing … if anyone has a good-condition dining room table and chairs that might fit in the priest house, I wish you’d call the office.

St. Margaret Mary Women’s Fellowship invites all adult women to join us for this fall’s bible

study Praying with Confidence by David Egner.

Having conversation with God through prayer is an important aspect of developing and maintaining our relationship with Him. In this study, author David

Egner explores disappointment associated with unan-swered prayer and offers practical steps to help us re-

connect and strengthen our line of communication with God. Join us, as together we gain a better understand-ing of how to approach God, to speak honestly from

our hearts, and wait patiently for Him to meet our needs.

Registration will take place after all Masses, September 6 & 7th. We will begin 6:30 pm,

Thursday, September 18 in the McGinn-Johnson Parish hall. You do not need to be a member of St.
