Mission Statement

We, the people of Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Chino, California, welcome you to our Roman Catholic Community. We are blessed to have a variety of different ethnic communities that join together on our journey towards the fulfillment of Christ’s Kingdom. It is a parish goal to provide the sacraments to the life of our community, with the source and summit of that life being the Eucharist. We are committed to the challenge of the Gospel message: to make Jesus Christ more known and more loved.

Teaching Moment:

What does the term “Hypostatic Union” mean ? The union of the divine nature of Christ as God

with his human nature as man. Christ is true God and true man, and possesses two natures, one divine, and one human, without confusion. Although they are inseparably united, each nature retains its proper characteristics. Thus Christ, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity did not just assume the physical aspects of a human being while on earth, he actually became man, both in body and soul. The Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph # 469 says this: “The Church thus confesses that Jesus is inseparably true God and True man. He is truly the Son of God who, without ceasing to be God and Lord, became a man and our brother”.

A Note from the In Residence Priest...

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, With such a name and with the accent (brogue) I hope you will know immediately that I come from Russia! No! I have come by way of Cork Dublin to Rome, London, South of England to sixteen years as Pastor in Dublin. In 1982 I came to America for a sabbatical year. I fell in love with the people of USA and decided to pitch my tent in Southern California. It has been a wonderful experience of ten years at St. Pius V, Buena Park and then eleven years as pastor at St. Mel’s, Norco. The Spirit then guided me to retire, so here I am in Margaret Mary’s to minister by way of ‘helping out’. Bishop Barnes offered me a choice of Palm Springs or Chino! You are thrilled to know that I chose the latter!

Please God, I will never regret it! Father Declan Fogarty O.S.A.
