If we may assist you, please just tell us. Loving and Provident God, Creator of all. We, the parish family of our Lady of the Rosary, humbly ask your contin- ued blessing on the spiritual, human and financial commitment we have made for the building of our new Church and the fulfillment of Your Kingdom on earth. Unless You build the house, we labor in vain to build it. Through the inter- cession of Mary, Mother of God, St. Joseph the Builder, bring to perfection the good work You have begun in us. We ask this through Christ the Lord. Amen. Our Lady of the Rosary Parish Building Prayer: Every Wednesday, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 9:30 am and Benediction at noon with church open to pray until 3:00 pm. From the Pastor’s Desk 27 th of Ordinary Time – October 5/6 2019 I just came from a farewell lunch with the University Multifaith Chaplains and staff at the University Club. After twelve years of ministry and service to the campus students, staff and faculty, it was an honour to be honoured by the incredibly diverse community that is Multifaith Services. There are some aspects of the work I do not regret letting go (the frenetic pace in September of starting ministry programs from scratch with a new crop of students for example). But I will miss the proximity to the students particularly and the inspiration they have been in faith, hope and love. Fr. William and Maria Arsenault of CCO will step up to ensure a Catholic presence continues, and I wish them a blessed success. There is so much going on in the month of October; the Holy Father’s call to an extraordinary month of mis- sion (I think every month is a month of mission mind you!), the Diocesan appeal, the visit of the relics of St. Antony of Padua, the Marian month of the Rosary, Oktoberfest, my Marriage Prep Course for the Diocese and a Federal Election to boot. Biblically, the Sunday liturgical readings will skim through St. Paul’s letter to Timothy in October and I plan a sermon series to see what can be gleaned from the epistle to inspire and instruct our mission as the Catholic Church in Sooke and Langford. I am grateful for all of you who are really offering yourselves to Christ and his bride to foster the mission of his gospel of love. Well done good and faithful servants. Fr. Dean Annual Oktoberfest on Oct 18 th , Friday at the Parish Center. Tickets: $10:00 each (Advance ticket sales only). Avail- able from Gilbert Levesque at 250-391-1720. Cocktail at 5:30pm. Dinner at 6:30pm . Tickets are also available in the parish office. Due to the fact that Victoria General Hospital currently has no onsite Spiritual Care employee, there is no notification at this time of Catholic patients to our Catholic Hospital Chaplain (Fr. Thomas). This means that if you know of some- one in the hospital who would like to receive Holy Communion or even a prayerful visit, it is imperative that you let your parish office know. Your parish office will then contact Father Thomas, the Catholic Hospital Chaplain for visits and he will further communicate to the outreach Eucharistic volunteers. For the past few months we have been notified of very few Catholic patients in the hospital and we would like to make sure patients don't miss the opportunity of Holy Communion at a time when they may need it the most. This is national "Life Chain Sunday" across the country and will be taking place between 2:00 and 3:00 pm at the corner of Blanchard and Finlayson. We encourage everyone who can come for the hour or part of it to meet at 1:45pm to obtain a sign and join in this prayerful witness to the unborn Canadian children killed before birth. You may contact Glenda (Choose Life Victoria) at 250-661-2613 for further information if required.
