CALVERTSTOCK 2015 Now in its fourth year, CalvertStock is moving to a 2 day event on 19th-20th June. The family friendly festival returns to The Old Station House Inn (EX31 4NW), ½ mile from Calvert Trust Ex-moor. It is a fantastic music event in aid of Cal-vert Trust Exmoor, the South West’s premier out-door activity destination for people with disabili-ties. Tickets are £15 both days, including 2 days camping, and are on sale now from www.calvert-trust.org.uk/tickets or from Calvert Trust Exmoor 01598 763221 or The Old Station House Inn. Day tickets also available for £5. The line-up features local, national and international artists covering a wide variety of musical genres. Enjoy a relaxed family friendly atmosphere and support a fantas-tic cause. To find out more go to www.calvert stock.com or call 01598 763221.

George Nympton is offering you a great experi-ence on Sunday June 7 (1.30–5.30pm). The vil-lage is less than 2 miles from South Molton and has a charming character of its own, with the river Mole meandering in a breathtaking valley around the village. The little church is pictur-esque, with its brick tower, built when the original tower burnt down in the 17th century. Eight privately owned gardens are open for you to wander around, all of them within a short walking distance from each other. They vary in size and character, and include gardens of the racing stables with pony rides for the children, and, of course, cream teas available together with plant and craft stalls at the Village Hall. .

Bus Changes The new bus timetable is out! It is available from South Molton Tourist Office and many other local outlets and on line at www.journeydevon.info. The main change in the area is new times for Route 7, the Sunday service from S Molton to Barnstaple. However Devon County Council is consulting on its supported local bus services to save £1.7 million. The start date for these changes is not definite but likely to be in Septem-ber or October: the routes likely to be effected in the area are the 7, 307,658, and Farecar 10. A timetable new supplement will be issued.

South Molton and District Children’s Centre

Let’s Cook The Children’s Centre is once again linking in with the WI ladies to deliver you a fantastic cookery course, where you will be able to learn

how to cook from scratch on a budget, in the S Molton area. The course will run on a Monday morning starting on 15th June at the Scout Hut in S Molton. There will be a crèche available on a first come first serve basis. If you are interested in attending this course please contact Louise Bertram on 01769 579615. Family Action Network You are invited to the next parent forum which will be held at S Molton Children’s Centre on the 9th June at 10am–11am. Parent forum gives you an opportunity to get in-volved in your local Children’s Centre and make new friends. This is a place where you can have your say and help us shape the services that we run for families in our area. All parents and carers with children under five are welcome to attend. If you are interested in attending please contact Sharon Davidson on 01769 579615. Let’s Talk More The Children’s Centre is linking up with S Molton Library to bring you “Time to Talk”. Recent screening completed by Health has highlighted the need for a speech and language group based in S Molton. If your child is aged two and you have any speech and language con-cerns please contact Julie on 01769 579615.

As part of celebrations for its 25th anniversary, Plantlife has launched a poll to find the nations' favourite wild flower (also the favourites in Eng-land, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). Will it be the common poppy, cowslip, more elusive ragged robin or that woodland favourite, the blue-bell? Voters have until 5 June to vote online for their favourite and the results will be announced soon after. As the people have their say at www.plantlife.org.uk/wild_plants/nations_ favour-ite_wildflower, they will be able to see what differ-ence it makes to the chart......

VOLUNTEERS AND DRIVERS NEEDED

Our team of Home Library Service volunteers pro-vide a “books with befriending” service for readers who cannot get to the library themselves. We work in partnership with Devon Libraries. Our service in South Molton is expanding and I would love to hear from you if you are: -

Friendly and outgoing

Reliable

Able to drive (expenses paid by the Royal Volun-

tary Service)

Happy to commit a few hours each month

Willing to complete a DBS (formerly CRB) check

Our much-appreciated volunteers select and de-liver books for people who love to read, but are unable to visit the library. Alternatively, if you would be happy to provide a service where you simply drop books off around S Molton, do please contact me. We could partner you with someone who se-lects the books and they don’t need to be a driver. If you and a friend might be interested in helping, do please give me a call. For an informal chat, with no obligation, call Carole Poulton, Service Man-ager, Royal Voluntary Service. Telephone/text 07786 635163 and I’ll call you back, or email [email protected].
