Student Library Card@ Public Library Charles County Public Library makes it easy to connect students to resources they need by offering the Kids Card. This card allows students to check out up to 5 books at a time. There are no fines or fees charged. Although many Westlake students already have library cards, some do not. Our librarian, Ms. Hardison, has collected completed applications and has received Kids Cards for 22 Westlake students from Waldorf West Public Library. Students may also apply directly at their public library. Joshua Washington has earned a cer tificate of recognition for participating in the summer reading program at Waldorf West PL. WESTLAKE HS has eBooks ! Just visit our library catalog website https://ccboelibrary.follettdestiny.com and selec

t the Westlake HS catalog. It is easy to find, check out, and read eBooks with Destiny Discover on any computer at school or at home. You can also download your eBook to your iOS and Android devices by downloading and installing the BryteWave K-12 Edition app from the App store, Google Play, or the Amazon App store. Contact the librarian, Ms. Hardison at [email protected] for additional information. Westlake has an Online Catalog Please be reminded that we do have an online catalog for Westlake among all the Charles County Public Schools. Just go to https://ccboelibrary.follettdestiny.com and click on high schools and then Westlake. You can search in the catalog without logging in. Your search can be limited to just videos or any type you may want. Contact Ms. Hardison for login information, if needed.

Westlake High School

It is the expectation at Westlake High School that each student will take the AP Exam for each of their AP courses.

Each student is required to create or activate a College Board account by September 14, 2018. Students need to be careful to have only one College Board account. Students should contact College Board if there are problems with their account.

The cost of each AP Exam is $94.00. Students will order online but will make payment to Westlake High School.

Students are responsible for the cost of all of their exams.

Registration is not complete until the student has placed an order online and payment is made in full to Westlake High School by the deadline. AP Exam Payment & Ordering Dates To Remember November 1st –Regular Deadline – Order online and pay $94.00 per exam November 15th–February 15th – Late Period - Order online and pay $134.00 per exam

A student’s Regular Online Order must be complete and payment made in full to Westlake High School by November 1, 2018 in order for the school to meet their Regular Deadline of November 15, 2018. The cost of each exam is $94.00.

A student’s Late Online Order must be complete and payment made in full to Westlake High School between November 15, 2018 and Febru-ary 15, 2019 in order for the school to meet the Late Deadline of March 1, 2019. The cost of each late order exam is $134.00 ($94 exam fee + $40 late order fee)

There is a cancellation fee of $40.00 for any Exam cancelled prior to March 1, 2019. There are no cancellations after March 1, 2019.

There is no refund if a student fails to sit for an ordered exam.

Late and cancellation fees apply to all students. In the past CCPS has offered a reimbursement for exams with a score of 3 or higher. A student who receives a C or better in an AP course might reasonably expect to score a 3 or better on the exam. Continuation of this program will depend on state and local funding which will be determined later in the school year. Reimbursements do not include any College Board related fees. CCPS and/or the State of Maryland will not reimburse the school or the student for an exam not taken. If a student fails to sit for the ordered exam the student is responsible for the cost of the exam plus any other College Board related fees.

Free & Reduced Lunch students may be eligible to receive fee reductions for their AP exams. In addition to the College Board fee reduction, there may be funding available from the county and/or state. Notification of this funding is not available until later in the school year. Students who qualify for Free & Reduced lunch must order online by the regular dates. All late fees and cancellation (except in the case of the elimination of state funding) apply to Free and Reduced Lunch students. If you are not on the official Free & Reduced Lunch list you will not be eligible for AP Exam fee reductions. In order for a student to receive accommodations on an AP Exam, students must request and receive approval for accommodations from the College Boards SSD office. Accommodations received at school do not carry over to College Board. The deadline for accommodations is February 22, 2019.

Late testing is allowed only under very few circumstances. Listed below are the approved reasons for late testing at no additional fee. Other reasons will need approval and will incur an additional $40 late-testing fee. Students must contact Ms. Wilhelm immediate-ly if they believe they may need to test during the Late testing Period (May 22nd – May 24th). Students are responsible for all costs incurred during the late period.
