Vigésimo sexto domingo del tiempo ordinario
Nm 11: 25-29; Santiago 5: 1-6; Mc 9: 38-43, 45, 47-48
Uno de los apóstoles, Juan, vio demonios arrojados en el nombre de Jesús por alguien que no pertenecía al círculo de discípulos y le prohi-
bió hacerlo. Al contar el incidente a Jesús, les respondió: "No lo prohíban ... Porque el que no está contra nosotros esta nosotros" (Marcos
9:39, 40).
Este es un tema de gran importancia. Qué se puede pensar de aquellos que están afuera de la Iglesia, que hacen algo bueno y muestran
signos del espíritu, pero sin creer en Cristo y adherirse a la Iglesia. ¿Pueden ellos también ser salvados?
La teología siempre ha admitido la posibilidad, para Dios, de salvar a algunas personas fuera de las formas ordinarias, que son la fe en
Cristo, el bautismo y la membresía en la Iglesia.
Esta certeza se ha afirmado en la era moderna, después de que los descubrimientos geográficos y las mayores posibilidades de comunica-
ción entre los pueblos hicieron necesario tomar nota de que hay innumerables personas que, por causas ajenas a la suya, nunca han escu-
chado la proclamación del Evangelio, o lo han escuchado de manera impropia, de conquistadores y colonizadores inescrupulosos que lo
hicieron bastante difícil de aceptar.
El Concilio Vaticano II dijo que "el Espíritu Santo ofrece a todos la posibilidad, de una manera conocida solo por Dios, de asociarse con
este misterio pascual de Cristo y, por lo tanto, de salvarse" ["Gaudium et Spes", n. 22. Nota del editor].
¿Ha cambiado nuestra fe cristiana? No, mientras sigamos creyendo dos cosas: Primero, que Jesús es, objetivo y de hecho, el único media-
dor y salvador de toda la raza humana, y que también aquellos que no lo conocen, si son salvos, son salvado gracias a él y su muerte re-
dentora. Segundo, que también aquellos que, aún no perteneciendo a la Iglesia visible, están objetivamente "orientados" hacia ella, forman
parte de esa Iglesia más grande, conocida solo por Dios.

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Nm 11:25-29; Jas 5:1-6; Mk 9:38-43, 45, 47-48
One of the apostles, John, saw demons cast out in the name of Jesus by one who did not belong to the circle of disciples and forbade him
to do so. On recounting the incident to the master, he is heard to reply: "Do not forbid him ... For he that is not against us is for
us" (Mark 9:39, 40).
This is a topic of great current importance. What to think of those who are outside, who do something good and show signs of the spirit,
yet without believing in Christ and adhering to the Church. Can they also be saved?
Theology has always admitted the possibility, for God, of saving some people outside the ordinary ways, which are faith in Christ, bap-
tism and membership in the Church.
This certainty has been affirmed in the modern age, after geographic discoveries and increased possibilities of communication among
peoples made it necessary to take note that there are innumerable people who, through no fault of their own, have never heard the procla-
mation of the Gospel, or have heard it in an improper way, from conquistadors and unscrupulous colonizers that made it quite difficult to
accept.
The Second Vatican Council said that "the Holy Spirit offers everyone the possibility, in a way known only to God, to be associated with
this paschal mystery of Christ and, therefore, to be saved" ["Gaudium et Spes," no. 22. Editor's note].
Has our Christian faith changed? No, as long as we continue to believe two things: First, that Jesus is, objectively and in fact, the only
mediator and savior of the whole human race, and that also those who do not know him, if they are saved, are saved thanks to him and
his redeeming death. Second, that also those who, still not belonging to the visible Church, are objectively "oriented" toward her, form
part of that larger Church, known only to God.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MINISTRY
The Knights of Columbus would like
to start collecting new and gently used
coats for children. There is a special need for children
Small / Size 7, as we ran out of those right away at last
year's drive. There will be a table in Smith Hall set up to
receive donations starting October 7th
after Mass each Sunday.
Please consider helping this ministry. It is time is a great
opportunity for a small gesture of love which can make a
big difference. GIVE THE GIFT OF WARMTH!

the annual Convocation of Priests. You are invited to attend a special Mass on Thursday, October 5, at 4:30 p.m. at Christ the King
Parish in Richland, 1111 Stevens Drive. Priest Jubilarians who will be recognized at the Mass include Msgr. John Ecker and
Fr. Robert Himes (60 years); Fr. Alvaro Diez (50 years); and Fr. Osmar Aguirre (25 years). May our loving God give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope and a powerful burning love for
their priestly life so they can carry on the work of Christ in their community.

MINISTERIO DE LOS
CABALLEROS DE COLON
Los Caballeros de Colon les gustaría
empezar a colectar chamarras nuevas
y/o en buen estado para niños. Hay una necesidad de talla 7,
ya que se terminaron muy rápidamente el año pasado.
A partir del 7 de octubre estarán en el salón parroquial
recibiendo sus donaciones después de todas las misas
dominicales. Por favor considere ayudar a este ministerio ya
que es una gran oportunidad para hacer un gesto de amor
y hacer una gran diferencia. DA UN REGALO CALOROSO!
Por favor de mantener en sus oraciones al Sr. Obispo José Tyson y a los sacerdotes de la Diócesis de Yakima, ya que ellos se reunirán
en Richland del 2-5 de octubre para su Convocación Anual Sacerdotal. Todos están invitados a asistir a una Misa especial el jueves 5
de octubre a las 4:30 p.m. Parroquia Cristo Rey en Richland, 1111 Stevens Drive. Sacerdotes que serán reconocidos en la Misa:
