Tell us a bit about your brand lsquoFelizrsquo Feliz is the Spanish word for Happy and that is how we want our range to make people feel Hand drawn imagery clean designing with pops of colour and the ability to mix and match makes for a happy (Feliz) home

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundMel here I have worked in photography product development and buying for several years it was challenging and rewarding After having my first child I thought it was about time I focus my ideas and energy into my own brand Thankfully Jane was thinking the same thing and together we combine all of our skills (and lack thereof) to make Feliz happen

What sparked you to create your brandWhen we first dreamt of Feliz there was a gap in the childrenrsquos bed linen market (not the case anymore) Jane and I both struggled to find linen that we loved and that was easy to fit into our homes ndash so we thought letrsquos just do it ourselves

What processes are involved in creating your designsChats playing with our kids taking long walks

on the beach ndash ha ndash sounds like a holiday but honestly inspiration is all around us The most insignificant thing can stop you in your tracks and capture your imagination

What inspired you in your designs for the new collectionWe have taken a slightly different direction for the new adult range We have played around with textures and have used a more layered palette for the Thread Lightly design which is beautifully embroidered Jane has played around with some different painting techniques and eventually one of her stunning watercolour artworks has become the design you see in the range

What do you love the most about having your own labelLearning creating the independence and a complete lack of boredom And making something that we can call our own Because we make most of our products by hand there is sooo much work involved in creating bed linen (more than we ever anticipated) so when it all comes together and it actually is what you had dreamed it really is an amazing feeling

What are your top five designer tipsPlay ndash fun things happenDonrsquot over think it ndash hard to doStay true to your own style ndash donrsquot get too caught up in the latest trendsSurround yourself with positive peopleJust start

What is your favourite item in your store right now and whyI am a bit in love with the Watercolour cushion the design is just soo dreamy

What has been your biggest highlightI must say having our Owl pillowcase on Offspring was pretty surreal ndash especially seeing Patrick lying on it

What do you foresee as the next big trendSleep We would love that to catch on in our house Honestly we try not to get too caught on the latest trends Our style is clean designing and pops of colour We hope our designs have longevity

How did your career beginWe are both Accountants and have spent many years in the business sector We also run local businesses with our husbands and have always had a passion on the weekends for renovatingbuilding homes and sourcing gorgeous items to style them The satisfaction we received from doing this has outweighed our traditional careers so it was natural to continue during the week pursuing what we loved

What sparked you to create your businessIn a modern and chaotic world the space that we determine is our centrepiece our compass and a place where we can achieve our daily mission to provide for work home and family When we pause we can look and really admire our own space and our personal expression Wersquod like to help others achieve this Although our backgrounds are in the corporate world we both felt that our true passion was in the design space and after having children decided to take the leap of faith We shared a vision to bring together quality products from talented designers with a lot of heart and soul Finding something different and unique and bringing it to others sparks us up

Can you tell us where you source your gorgeous homewares from and how do you select the right item for your storeWe bring together talented designers from Europe and Scandinavia For us itrsquos all about the layers that create the lifestyle that we all crave whether it be a beautiful cushion or a cutting board that is so artful you donrsquot have the heart to chop on itWe also seek out eco-friendly and

sustainable homewares that use the best of materials crafted by the communities they live in We like to find out as much information about the designer and their philosophy and manufacturing process as we can so we can ensure we are a good fit for each otherWe look to what is current and happening now We love bright clean and modern spaces filled with natural light and pure lines We appreciate natural timbers and materials earthy tones luxurious textiles quality made accessories and unique prints and designs Likewise we love artwork and pops of colour

Tell us a bit about Sack MeThe idea for Sack Me came about in 2013 when I failed to find bedding for my boys which was a mix sack of fun classic and quirky that wasnrsquot either gender specific (rockets trains cars for boys) or just patterns ndash as beautiful as they are I felt it lacked a sense of adventure for kids I saw an opportunity to create a unisex range that was truly unique - a twist on familiar objects (in this instance food) that really got the kids excited and went for it

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundI studied Architecture at the University of Sydney and even though it was a very technical course I was still able to dabble in electives such as photography screen printing ceramics and life drawing which sustained me through those 6 yearsUpon graduating I worked at various commercial practices but soon after the arrival of my twin boys in 2010 I wasnrsquot able to return to full time practice The need for a creative outlet gave rise to a graphic design business (hamamppea) that grew along with the boys and fast forward 5 years Sack Me was born What sparked you to create Sack MeIrsquom an entrepreneur at heart I guess one can say Irsquove been doing business since I was a child getting friends and family to purchase ridiculous (often hideous) creations of mine At the ripe age of 12 I sold every single flower mum received from well wishing friends after the birth of my youngest sister to fund a party my girlfriends and I had organised I may have made some bad business decisions along the way but it was only a natural progression that led me to creating Sack Me an avenue to express and share my (less hideous) work and make an honest living out of it

What processes are involved in creating your piecesI tend to work backwards with my thought process often starting with a vision of the end product I would like to create Days and weeks of sketching ideas followed by testing them on the kids playing with colour schemes adding and subtracting from the designs to create a strong and coherent theme I donrsquot allow myself online to do any research too soon as I like the process to flow from my initial instincts When the designs start to take form I translate them digitally I work very closely with our manufacturers during this stage to ensure the pattern making will work on the products and we source materials and create samples during this stage Following a series of trial and error adjustments and improvements the products are well on itrsquos way to becoming a reality

What inspires you in your designsTravel fashion conversations and definitely my children Irsquom certainly not governed by trendshellip I love to zig when everyone zags

What do you love the most about having your own labelI love the freedom to curate my own products and the opportunity to really push the boundaries (personally and professionally) I get to set the rules break the rules and realise at the end of the day there are no rules when itrsquos your gig ndash thatrsquos a pretty awesome Most of all I get to share a piece of myself with everyone who brings a Sack Me product home (in a non creepy way of course)

Tell us a bit about your illustrations My work is mostly character focused but lately Irsquove become really interested in botanicals so thatrsquos new for me Irsquom pretty into symbolism If therersquos not back story meaning and often hidden references in my work I canrsquot finish it for some reason It needs a soul to keep me interested I also love pattern limited colour palettes but thatrsquos fairly obvious I think

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundIrsquom an illustration major but Irsquove always loved drawing painting anything creative really After finishing uni I travelled around and worked odd jobs before settling in Queenstown and starting a family It was only after the birth of my first son that I really gave illustrating a go as a career and I havenrsquot looked back

What sparked you to begin your own businessHaving a bit of time on my hands after

Boston was born and needing a creative outlet now that I wasnrsquot working Being able to go upstairs and draw for a couple of hours is still my salvation from a hectic mummying lifestyle Without it I think I would be one of those crazy ladies who talks to everyone like theyrsquore about 6 months old because she doesnrsquot get out enough

What techniques do you use in creating your piecesI always start with a line drawing whether the finished product is going to be an oil painting paper cut work or ink drawing I then transfer my drawing to whatever surface Irsquom going to be working on and if itrsquos a patterned work I mark out the darkest and lightest areas After that itrsquos just a case of doing the work Patterning or painting or both

What inspires you in your designsIrsquom inspired by the usual things nature people in the street Animals are pretty huge for me too It can be anything though A

piece I just finished was inspired by looking at how my mustard coloured sleeve looked next to my peach coloured nail polish It really can come from anywhere

How did your progress your work into homewaresMy husband and I have just built our first house and so I have a newly developed love of homewares myself So it seemed a natural progression As for the kids clothes I really just wanted some for my kiddies and Irsquom just stoked other people seem to like them too

Who are some of your favourite artists and whyOh man thatrsquos a hard question - there are so manyI love Miso and Twoone from Australia Ryan McLennan Jeremy Fish and so many others that I canrsquot even think of right now Mostly I love art to be a little edgy a little low brow Anything featured in the pages of Juxtapoz magazine or Booooooomcom

What is your most favourite illustration that you have completedThey all come come with their own unique challenges and satisfactions At the moment I guess Irsquom pretty proud of a work I just finished called Lucky Red Shirt It took me about 6 months to complete and was my first attempt at portraiture which certainly didnrsquot come easyBut I feel like itrsquos the first time Irsquove truly succeeded in combining oil painting and pattern in one painting Irsquom also pretty in love with a new pattern Irsquove started doing which is sort of like a mathematical constellation which Irsquom really enjoying juxtaposing with organic subject matter

What has been your biggest highlightBeing published in books and magazines

is always really exciting Last year I was a finalist and published in The Red Book and also Stolen Vol 2 which Irsquom pretty proud of but mostly I just feel so grateful and humbled whenever anyone wants to buy my work That people value it enough to want it in their homes is the biggest highlight and so far that seems to be ongoing which is just amazing

Tell us a bit about your illustrations My work is mostly character focused but lately Irsquove become really interested in botanicals so thatrsquos new for me Irsquom pretty into symbolism If therersquos not back story meaning and often hidden references in my work I canrsquot finish it for some reason It needs a soul to keep me interested I also love pattern limited colour palettes but thatrsquos fairly obvious I think

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundIrsquom an illustration major but Irsquove always loved drawing painting anything creative really After finishing uni I travelled around and worked odd jobs before settling in Queenstown and starting a family It was only after the birth of my first son that I really gave illustrating a go as a career and I havenrsquot looked back

What sparked you to begin your own businessHaving a bit of time on my hands after

Boston was born and needing a creative outlet now that I wasnrsquot working Being able to go upstairs and draw for a couple of hours is still my salvation from a hectic mummying lifestyle Without it I think I would be one of those crazy ladies who talks to everyone like theyrsquore about 6 months old because she doesnrsquot get out enough

What techniques do you use in creating your piecesI always start with a line drawing whether the finished product is going to be an oil painting paper cut work or ink drawing I then transfer my drawing to whatever surface Irsquom going to be working on and if itrsquos a patterned work I mark out the darkest and lightest areas After that itrsquos just a case of doing the work Patterning or painting or both

What inspires you in your designsIrsquom inspired by the usual things nature people in the street Animals are pretty huge for me too It can be anything though A

piece I just finished was inspired by looking at how my mustard coloured sleeve looked next to my peach coloured nail polish It really can come from anywhere

How did your progress your work into homewaresMy husband and I have just built our first house and so I have a newly developed love of homewares myself So it seemed a natural progression As for the kids clothes I really just wanted some for my kiddies and Irsquom just stoked other people seem to like them too

Who are some of your favourite artists and whyOh man thatrsquos a hard question - there are so manyI love Miso and Twoone from Australia Ryan McLennan Jeremy Fish and so many others that I canrsquot even think of right now Mostly I love art to be a little edgy a little low brow Anything featured in the pages of Juxtapoz magazine or Booooooomcom

Tell us about yourself and your background I think I can honestly say that Irsquom living my dreams I share these dreams with two beautiful girls and my partner in northern NSW Australia Itrsquos all very green grasses and cottages vegie gardens and quaint studios in old buildings Itrsquos important that I remind myself daily to stop and appreciate it all Itrsquos crazy also and I have to constantly work on the balance Itrsquos so easy to pour yourself too much into something while other things fall apart The pace of children and small business sometimes makes me spin in circles Irsquom sure Irsquom not alone I guess people like me wouldnrsquot have it any other way Before Love Mae I enjoyed wandering the world and living in some incredible remote locations I love the extremes in life

What sparked you to create Love Mae In no particular orderhellip Magic a series of events hope and dreams Next came blood sweat and tears I was lucky to have grown Love Mae with some extremely talented people Love Mae had a gorgeous beginning

What processes are involved in creating your pieces Each product category has a different process but most involve the use of patterns and characters The designs are first brought to life in a decal which is digitally printed We then adapt the design to other products Luckily most of our products are made locally so itrsquos easy to be a part of the process and quality control Our imported products are a little different and involves a more complicated level of manufacturing They can take a long time from sampling to production I think the language barriers are a bit challengingBut the travel certainly makes up for it

What inspires you in your designs All the little loves in our life Hanging out with them so much never leaves you short on ideas When it comes to colour we try to keep it so that mum and dad can match back their stylish tastes I wouldnrsquot say we follow trends but we do have an eye for beautiful Itrsquos so much fun bringing to life themes for childrenrsquos bedrooms we believe they donrsquot need to be tacky and super loud We love that there are so many stylish parents out there that help their children find our goodies

What do you love the most about having your own label On a personal level I love that I can shake up routine Irsquom not very good at repetition and Love Mae guarantees lsquoNever a dull momentrsquo I also love that as a women and not just a mother that

What is your favourite item in your store right now and why My favourite item is most definitely our new 5pc bamboo dinner sets Forest Feast is adorable We used some of Meeri Annelirsquos artwork and the result is divine I sometime sneakily eat off the sectioned plate at home and the little bowl and spoon are perfect for my morning tea snack of yogurt nuts seeds and cinnamon concoction

Tell us a bit about The Club of Odd Volumes how it was formed and how it worksThe Club was formed in 2012 We are a digital direct-to-garment print studio based in Collingwood Melbourne Finding a printer who could fire off a small number of tees at a realistic re-selling price was tough Realising that other artists wanted this too we bought a printer and started offering our services There are no-minimum orders (thatrsquos right we can print just one) no setup costs full colour photo quality printing at great re-seller rates As artists ourselves we try to offer a service that helps everyone create uniquely designed wears that are both achievable and affordable After a year we launched The Odd Collective to help artists get more exposure An online curated shop featuring 20 artists who rotate twice a year This means you donrsquot need to scroll through thousands of products to find a gem and gives serious artists a platform to get exposure with new customers and retailers

Tell us a bit about 2nd Chance Tables and how it was formed2nd Chance Tables is a Melbourne-based furniture business specialising in custom pieces made from recycled timber We just love making furniture pieces with a story Wersquove made tables for Melbourne University Blues Footy Club using their old pavilion flooring which they later auctioned to members for fundraising And more recently we had a customer approach us with an old table belonging to her grandmother and we were able to incorporate parts of that table with the new one to produce a sentimental piece of furniture for her Therersquos something

special about making something useable from buildings or structures that no longer exist 2nd Chance Tables started about two and half years ago out of desperation and necessity It was during the economic downtown in Melbourne I had been working as a carpenter in the domestic construction industry for about fifteen years and was made redundant It was a really difficult time to find work in industry and so I used the skills that I had to make some money My wife and I often reflect on our journey We started from such humble beginnings building tables on my mother in-lawrsquos tiny rooftop garden in the

middle of winter and sold them online You can imagine how miserable and desolate life was for us then Luckily our furniture was well-received and we were able to find a great workshop to grow the business in We havenrsquot looked back

How did your career begin Irsquove always had a huge interest in how things go together Anything with moving parts or different pieces or adjustable components This manifested early on in my life coming from a long line of engineers and hands on makers of things I started labouring casually for a family friend who was a builder

whilst I was in high school and found I had a real knack for house building and loved the process Straight after year 12 I found a carpentry apprenticeship and began my foray into the wide world of woodAs a traditional carpentry apprenticeship only really covered construction techniques I definitely had to teach myself most of the finer points of joinery as I went along so it was a very steep learning curve once I decided to try my hand in the furniture game

Can you tell us how you source your materials for 2nd Chance TablesVictoria and Melbourne are much more

progressive in appreciating of the beauty of recycled timbers than other states and there are several well stocked timber yards around which Irsquove been able to build good relationships with over the years Sometimes our customers want to incorporate other materials such as power-coated metals which we outsource or from time to time theyrsquoll bring in some timber from their homes that has a sentimental value to them

What processes are involved in creating your piecesLots of back and forth emails and phone calls Because each piece is custom made

for each client each new job takes a bit of planning and designing before the actual construction begins Most of the time our customers contact us with a design concept in mind itrsquos either something theyrsquove seen in a shop or a magazine which they want to re-create and alter From that point we discuss pragmatic things such as the size the number of people it would cater the room space that the piece will be going timbers and the desired finish Based on that I would draw a digital rendering which is emailed to the client for editing and approval

bull Lastly a beautiful light fixture can transform or set the tone of a room particularly if it sits over the top of your dining table Your eyes are naturally drawn to it and it can transform ordinary to extraordinary

What do you consider to be a must have item in your homeOh thatrsquos difficult to answer Therersquos so many to choose from My wife loves to cook so a dining table to cater for our friends and family is extremely important I built us a (200cm x 120cm) table and wersquove been able to squeeze 15 people around it ndash it helps

when you have bench seats The other item we couldnrsquot live without is the couch ndash we spend a lot of time of that thing although thatrsquos probably to change with the addition of our first baby in a few weeks

What has been your favourite piece you have createdI recently made a change table for our nursery Surprisingly it was made out of plywood instead of recycled timber My wife designed it and it incorporates wallpaper and leather Itrsquos pretty satisfying and sentimental being able to make something specific for our little boy

What has been your biggest highlightRecently we employed another woodworker on a casual basis although it may seem like a pedestrian step it meant a great deal to me about where I was headed with the

bull Donrsquot be afraid to embrace colour or patterns I tend to keep static furniture paint and cabinetry neutral and incorporate colours and patterns through accessories like cushions rugs artwork or light fixtures These things can be changed easily because I tend to tire of them over time

bull I just love minimalistic and open spaces I think Irsquom drawn to it because secretly Irsquom a hoarder I canrsquot help myself - I love stuff So when we designed our house I made sure we had lots of cupboard space to hide all of our stuff

bull Lastly a beautiful light fixture can transform or set the tone of a room particularly if it sits over the top of your dining table Your eyes are naturally drawn to it and it can transform ordinary to extraordinary

What do you consider to be a must have item in your homeOh thatrsquos difficult to answer Therersquos so many to choose from My wife loves to cook so a dining table to cater for our friends and family is extremely important I built us a (200cm x 120cm) table and wersquove been able to squeeze 15 people around it ndash it helps

when you have bench seats The other item we couldnrsquot live without is the couch ndash we spend a lot of time of that thing although thatrsquos probably to change with the addition of our first baby in a few weeks

What has been your favourite piece you have createdI recently made a change table for our nursery Surprisingly it was made out of plywood instead of recycled timber My wife designed it and it incorporates wallpaper and leather Itrsquos pretty satisfying and sentimental being able to make something specific for our little boy

What has been your biggest highlightRecently we employed another woodworker on a casual basis although it may seem like a pedestrian step it meant a great deal to me about where I was headed with the

business It also introduced a whole new personrsquos perspective on furniture design not to mention their fantastic woodworking skills Itrsquos a great boon at work to be able to discuss what yoursquore doing as yoursquore doing it with a likeminded person

What do you foresee as the next big trendMy wife is obsessed with copper and leather at the moment I imagine a lot of our future concept pieces will be incorporating these materials According to her copper enhances the sophistication of timber while leather can be a nice contrasting material to blend in Irsquom yet to be convinced although people tend to compliment the pieces she creates so she might be on to something ndash Irsquoll keep you posted

starts to grow wersquove been approached by several cafes and businesses around Melbourne to furnish new venues Thatrsquos something that we hope continues And over the last year or so wersquove started to make furniture pieces other than tables which provide us more creative opportunities In the next few weeks wersquoll be launching an online store for our off-the-shelf furniture range A lot of the time customers want neutral and simple pieces but the online store will allow us to create sample once-off concepts to demonstrate other possibilities that the customer might not have considered before More importantly pieces will be available at a reduced price compared to the custom-made furniture

specialising in natural skincareAfter my father became ill in 2009 I decided that life was too short to stay in a job where I was no longer happy and completed my Yoga Teacher Training During this time I began to dabble in soy candle making due to my own inability to find an essential oil candle to use during meditation As they say the rest is history I left my flying career and have now been running Lemon Canary for four years I have recently completed my Reiki Healers Course and look forward to all that is to come with Lemon Canary

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundKEEPRESIN initially started as a hobby whilst I was studying at university I was doing a Bachelor of Arts (International Studies) at RMIT I found it a very fascinating course and had dreams of working for the United Nations in New York However KEEPRESIN was expanding and something had to give so I stopped university with six months to go in my course This was just over two years ago now and I have never looked back I have always had an interest in art and this was helped by the fact that my Mum is a Design and Technology teacher and itrsquos an environment I have always been surrounded by I think it helps to not only have the creativity but in order to survive in this industry you have to be organised and have business knowledge This knowledge hasnrsquot been easy as I donrsquot have any higher education training in business there have been a lot of mistakes along the way but they are what make you stronger and help you more forwardI live on the Mornington Peninsula with my fianceacute and little Cavoodle Fenton We have just spent the last year renovating our little 60rsquos house which has been an amazing process and something I have thoroughly enjoyed

What sparked you to create KEEPRESINAs mentioned before my mum is a teacher and did a resin course through work She then taught my sister and I how to do the basic process and then it has grown from there The business has grown organically

exploring different shapes and colours What we have tried to achieve is to create unique and affordable resin jewellery and homewares

What processes are involved in creating your piecesResin is quite a labour intensive material to work with The initial design and prototypes are made out of clay or something similar This is then set into silicone then into the silicone you pour the resin with the colour added Once the resin has hardened then begins the sanding process where you slowly use lesser and lesser grades of sandpaper in order to achieve a smooth finish The final

process is to oil the surface so that it brings out the colour and seals it to some extent

What inspires you in your designsI am continually inspired by my surroundings and where I live The decision to move into homewares was inspired by the fact that I have bought my new 60rsquos house I love organic shapes especially combined with resin as itrsquos such a pliable material to work with The ranges continue to evolve from season to season and I love exploring different colour palettes depending on the season

What do you love the most about having your own labelOwning your own business certainly has its ups and downs It is amazing to have the freedom to be creative and do whatever you would like really There arenrsquot two days the same which keeps me inspired and challenged

Who are some of your favourite designersI find some of my favourite designers are from all over the world I donrsquot really have any particular in mind Instagram and Pinterest are two amazing sources where there is an

amazing array of images and sources you can draw inspiration from What is your favourite item in your store right now and whyI particularly love the lighting that I am working on at the moment This is a new field for me to branch out into and there is so much scope to creativity

What has been your biggest highlightThere have been a couple of highlights that have occurred in the last years The first would have to be stocking to the National Gallery of Victoria This is such an honour Another honour has been stocking to the beautiful store Fenton and Fenton I am so

humbled to be amongst such a talented artists and in such an iconic store Fenton and Fenton have been on my list of desired stores since the business started

What are your plans for the futureKEEPRESIN will continue to expand in Australia Over the next two years we are hoping to expand overseas and hopefully break into the American market We are hoping to continue to be represented in beautiful stores It is such a lovely feeling being approached by stores that you love

Tell us a bit about your businessI have a shop full of terrariums from floor to ceiling I just love them each one is different and once they are made they thrive on neglect The shop is relatively new only opened six months ago I have been working from home for the last four years developing my little business

Tell us about yourself and your backgroundIrsquom a 36 year old mumma and wife My background has been in deciding to raise my family young I dreamed of having children and family from a young age I suppose I have done things reverse to what the world says one should do but that was my dream As my children grow older I pursued my creative and artistic interests while returning to university to study teaching

What sparked you to create your businessIt started with finding a book in the op-shop published in 1973 on terrariums I had been a stay-at-home mum for some time and was at the studying my Early Childhood degree When my youngest child started prep I had more time on my hands and needed something I enjoyed Both of my boys have been diagnosed with Autism so making terrariums was a creative outlet that provided my calm After lots of trial and error we applied for design markets in Melbourne and took our terrariums to pop-up stores at Westfield and Chadstone Shopping Centres Earlier this year when our little poppet (child 4 who is our foster daughter) left our care we were at a cross roads It was decision time We could build a shed and I keep working from home or open a shop close to the childrenrsquos school Hubby and I opted to open the shop A few weeks later we had our little poppet back Life is certainly busy

What processes are involved in creating your piecesThe escapism and imagination of a Little Land is always front of my mind Each piece is unique in saying that there are always the customers favourites Everyone loves Alice in Wonderland and the Woodland Terrariums The process ranges from ensuring all the glassware and materials are as clean as possible sourcing the miniatures visiting plant growers and the physical making The business side like answering emails keeping receipts etc has been a big learning curve for me Irsquom the creative one perhaps not always thinking logically thankfully my husband comes to the rescue

What inspires you in your designsI think for me it is creating a piece that one can look into and their worries escape them for a moment in time Bringing a smile to someonersquos face and a sense of wonder is such a nice thing Plants are beautiful and amazing creations in themselves to encapsulate them in a miniature eco-system is fascinating and allows inspiration to stop and look and appreciate creation

What do you love the most about having your own labelI feel so thankful this is something I never thought I would do Having my own label is pretty humbling I am no more special than anyone else It is nice though that if someone sees a terrarium they wonder if it is a Little Lands terrarium and people are recognising our designs as unique We are not about a succulent in a jar ndash that is not a terrarium Terrariums have lids always

Who are some of your favourite designersMmm these days I am loving simplicity The

designers that come to mind are Charles and Ray Eames As for local designers it is about relationship for me I love individual designs stuff no-one else is doing Treads and Pedals are amazing and the craftsmanship of Plank and Trestle is amazing They are gorgeous gorgeous people too

What is your favourite item in your store right now and whySomething I created just recently it is a huge rose bowl garden with a festival inside

What has been your biggest highlightWe were in The Age newspaper in August and on 3AWrsquos Big Backyard with Jane Edmonston and Darren James That was pretty exciting I must say though coming into the shop every morning after bringing the children to school is a highlight for me Entering a fresh white space filled with plants ndash it feels great

What are your plans for the futureThe immediate future I have a few designs up my sleeve but need a handyman or craftsman to help me with that We will be at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden show next March and flat out until then at various markets and events

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about your businessI love it I love being blessed to work with plants each day and make people smile when they look into each vessel and realise there is a story inside Itrsquos priceless
