FIRST-time buyers wanting totake advantage of theGovernments FirstBuyinitiative to get a foothold onthe property ladder are beingadvised to register their interestin the new loan equity schemenow to avoid disappointment.
Persimmon Homes haslaunched a registration page onits website persimmonhomes.com/firstbuyprior to the announcement ofthe allocation of applicableFirstBuy plots in June. This isdue to an unprecedenteddemand from first-time buyersalready looking for support, such as shared equity, to enter
the property market.FirstBuy, which was
announced in the ChancellorsMarch budget, is aimed athelping first-time buyers ontothe property ladder with asmaller mortgage deposit.
It is similar to the previousGovernments HomeBuy DirectScheme, of which Persimmon
Homes had the largestallocation (20 per cent) of allapplicable plots in the country, assisting over 2,000 purchasersto buy their first home.
Alison Reading, sales directorfor Persimmon Homes SouthMidlands, said: We recognisejust how important first-timebuyers are in sustaining theproperty market and welcomedthe announcement of theFirstBuy loan equity scheme.
There will however only be a
set allocation of plots that willbe able to be bought throughthe scheme and, once these aregone, we are, at this stage, unsure whether any additionalplots will be made available.
It is therefore extremelyimportant for people to marktheir interest in the schemeprior to the specific allocationsbeing announced to ensure that,in June, they are at the top ofthe list to benefit from thesupport.

AuctionsNewsUNDER THE HAMMER
AN important piece of Englishceramic history has been unearthedamong the contents of a housebelonging to an oldest farming family.
The London Delft mug, dating fromthe reign of Charles II, was spotted byauctioneer Lindsey Braune auctioneerat the Cotswold Auction Company, during a routine listing of contentsfor sale by auction.
She said: It just jumped out at mefrom the back of a china cabinet. Whatwas particularly striking was thearmorial shield, together with the veryearly date of 1674.
It sent a tingle down my spine and, much to the familys surprise, Isuggested taking it away for research.
The baluster-shaped mug is painted
in blue with the shield from thearmorial bearings of the WorshipfulCompany of Salters three salt potswith grains of salt trailing from each.
The mug was destined for aparticular husband and wife with theinitials W and RW, quite possibly givenas a wedding present to a liveryman.
The painted floral decoration aroundthe shield has charming additionssuch as a butterfly and a snail and thehomely motto on the rim states I ambut earth it is most trew, disdain meenot for so are you, ano dom 1674.
The Worshipful Company of Saltersis one of the oldest livery companies inthe country ranked number nineamng the great 12 City of LondonLivery companies and was founded in1394.
Ms Braune said: Early London Delftis always sought-after, but what makes
this extra-special are these threedistinguishing factors date, initialsand the livery shield.
We are including it in our specialistsummer collectors sale to be held atthe Chapel Walk Saleroom inCheltenham on Tuesday, June 21.
This sale has live, online biddingand we anticipate interest fromnational and international buyers.
The piece is estimated at 5,000-7,000 and can be viewed on thewebsite cotswoldauction.co.uk

5,800.The table still carried many scars
from ill usage, including drill holesfor fixing a vice, but several dealersappreciated the potential valueonce it was restored. The piece hadmany fine points such as a 2ft 4insx 8ft 3in single plank top, turnedsquared supports and stretcherswith moulded decoration.
As so many early oak tables havereplaced sections this piece hadsurvived whole and, while needing

Never give burglars a look IF youve ever been the victim ofburglary youll know that it is anupsetting, stressful and ultimatelypretty scary experience.
And although statistics show thatthe number of burglaries in Britainhas significantly decreased overthe past decade, Belvoir! which hasan office in London Road inWorcester, is urging its clients to beas vigilant as ever.
Steve Slawson, owner of Belvoir!in Worcester, said: We often findthat landlords and tenants placeless importance on security thanhomeowners.
Sometimes there is confusionover whose responsibility it is butwe always advise that both partiesneed to take precautionary steps toensure security is of the highestlevel.
I think that people have becomea little complacent lately becauseyear on year we hear that thenumber of incidents is decreasing.
However burglaries are still avery real threat especially duringthe summer months when lots ofpeople are on holiday and so bothlandlords and tenants need to takesteps to increase security.
At Belvoir! we take the safetyand wellbeing of our tenants andmaintenance of our landlordsproperties very seriously and are
always on the other end of thephone to advise them if they haveany worries.
Although the risk of a burglarycannot be completely eliminatedthere are certain steps thatlandlords and tenants can take toconsiderably reduce it.
Here are some of the firms toptips for both landlords and tenants:
Ensure home security is of a highlevel. Common sense tells us thathouseholds with less than basicsecurity are more likely to become
victims of burglary thanhouseholds with enhanced security.Burglars like to operate without
forced entry so the first measureyou should take is to install dead-bolts on all external doors.
Attaching a timer switch on yourlights is also advisable as light willgive the illusion that there arepeople in the property. This is
especially important if you areexperiencing a void period.Remove the opportunity: Takemeasures that tell a burglar yourproperty is too difficult or risky totarget. Try to avoid leavingwindows open that are easilyaccessible, letting hedges becomeovergrown and leaving ladders outafter use. These make access to thebuilding far simpler and indicate toa prospective burglar that itsworth a second look.Keep all valuables out of sight:You wouldnt ask someone to mugyou in the street so why would youmake it simple for a burglar to gainaccess to your valuables? Burglarsare opportunists so if they can seeyour car keys lying unattendedthey are more likely to strike. Makesure all valuables are hidden, or
even better locked away.Tell a friend if you are going away:Its a well known fact that the mostlikely time youll get burgled iswhen you are on holiday. If yourletterbox has an old newspapersticking out of it or your curtainshavent been closed for a few daysit indicates there is no one home.Ask a friend or neighbour to keep
an eye on your propertcontact the police immthey see any suspiciousKeep doors locked at aThis may seem like an but often people, especwho live in flats, only lwhen they are leaving or at night. Thieves canin the day time, and mawill resort to violence iresistance.Mark your valuables: Proutinely check recoveitems for SmartWater, fluid that can be used thousehold items. If youare marked with SmartUV pen, it increases ththat you will be reunitestolen goods.
