WORLD SOIL DAY CELEBRATED CelebrationofWorldSoilHealthDayat KVK Washim KVK in joint collaboration with EPC Mahindra Company has celebrated World Soil Day and Farmer Scientist Interaction Meet on 5 th Dec.20 18 at KVK so as to spread awareness about healthy soils and importance of soil health management among farmers. Theme of programme was "Be the solution to soil pollution". Progressive farmer from Shirpur Jain Dr.Gajanan Dhawale, Chaired the programme, while Manish Kumbhare Regional Head EPC, Purshottam Dhawat Area Manager ,Dr.RL.Kale Head KVK and S.K.Deshrnukh were among the dignitaries on the dais. At the outset, after welcoming dignitaries and farmers, programme started with ICAR song. In the introductory speech Dr. R.L.Kale stressed on importance of soil health management for doubling farmer's income and urged farmers to visit demonstration units at KVK. S.K.Deshmukh in his remarks emphasized that soil based use of fertilizer is the need of the-hour as soils of district are found deficient in nitrogen, phosphorous, zinc and sulphur, which has bad effect in crop production and quality of produce. Speaking in his inaugural address Dr. Dhawale expressed concerns over availability cultivator of less organic carbon in district soils and shared his experience on record harvest of turmeric crop in his field and innovations made at his end due to shortage of labor in agriculture. Asst. Prof. Soil Science Nilesh Khandre made presentation about soil sample collection, soil fertility index and measures to improve soil health by adopting organic farming practices. Before technical session Soil Health Card (SHC) were distributed to farmers, followed by reading of soil test reports. In technical sessionKVKexpertN.B.Patil guided on Cont. On Pg. In chief address Dr. RL.Kale stressed on doubling farmer's income up to 2022 through some innovations like Integrated farming system module to meet out the daily expenses offarmers family. He urged the farmers to visit the IFS module, Micro irrigation demonstration, Kitchen garden developed in the campus. Mr. T.S.Deshrnukh explained the organic farming and urged the participants to visit organic block which will aware farmers about organic farming technologies like NADEP composting, use of waste decomposer, vermin compost production and vermin wash. Miss. S.N.Watane has delivered lecture on nutritional diet and explained the importance of Soybean in daily diet. Dr. D .L.Ramteke enlighten on allied enterprise like poultry farming, Goat farming and Dairy farming for income generation and creation of inputs for sustainable agriculture. Under Swachh Bharat Mission from 16"1 to sr' December2018 nationwide "Swachhata Hi Sewa" campaign wasobserved to create awareness about cleanliness and toincrease rural sanitation coverage in households at villagelevel.As a part of this activity KVK, Washim has conductedawareness campaign followed by cleanliness drive andshiwarpheri in adopted villages.

On 16th December Krishi Vigyan Kendra has startedthe programme of Swacchata Hi Sewa campaign in KVKadopted village Kondala Zamare in chief presence ofMr.Nitinji Ingole Sarpanch Kondala Zamare, Dr.R.L.KaleSenior Scientist & Head KVK, Dr.Vikas Gaud Dr.PDKV,Akola scientist, Bhagwat Rajaram Bundhe and other KVKScientist Mr. S.K.Deshmukh, Mr. R.S.Daware & Miss.S.N.Watane. At the outset Swachhta Oath followed by treeplantation done by villagers in presence of all dignitaries.Dr. R.L.Kale in his inaugural remarks emphasized theimportance of cleanliness in day to day life and told that suchawareness programme are sensitizing farmers aboutbenefits of good habits. Mr.R.S.Daware remarked that dueto climate vagaries need of tree plantation and its role inwater conservation for sustainable development. Mr.S.K.Deshmukh has given the hints for healthy life and basicprecautions to be followed for Swacchata and cleanliness.Miss. Watane explained the importance of fruit plants in ourdaily life and urged the farmers to protect the planted fruitsplants under KKA II. On 171h December 2018 theprogramme was organized at Khini Ghodmod in Malegaonblock of Washim District. Mr. T.S.Deshmukh & Dr.D.L.Ramteke guided the farmers on NADEP Composttechnology. On 181h December 2018 the programme wasorganized in Vegetable market Risod. KVK experts Dr.RL.Kale, D.N.Ingole, Miss. S.N.Watane coordinated theprogramme. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kale guidedabout cleanliness habits, better sanitation practices likeusing a toilet, hand washing and hygiene awareness whileMr. Ingole address on grading and packing of vegetable aswell as cold storage schemes. Miss. Watane explained theimportance of Janta freeze and its use for the storage ofvegetable. On 19th December 2018 the programme wasorganized at village Ghobani. Miss. S.N.watane create theawareness about personal hygiene to farm women's andpolythene free status by demonstrating making of paper andcloths bags. During the programme 2500 fruit plants weredistributed to 100 families. The Ministry of Agriculture and farmers welfare inlinewith the Hon'ble Prime Minister Nerendra Modi's visionof doubling farmers income by 2022 has launched the KrishiKalyan Abhiyan II from 2nd October to 25'hDecember 2018so as to aid, assist and advice farmers on how to improvetheir farming techniques and raise their incomes. The KrishiKalyanAbhiyan will be undertaken in 25 villages with morethan 1000 population each in Aspirational Districtsidentified in consultation with Ministry of RuralDevelopment as per directions of NITI Ayog. An ActionPlan comprising specifically identified activities undervarious departments of the Ministry namely, Department ofAgriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW),Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries (DAHD&F) andDepartment of Agricultural Research & Education (DARE-ICAR) will be implemented to saturate these 25 villages ineach district with these activities.

The overall coordination and implementation in the25 villages of a district is being done by Krishi VigyanKendra of that district. III officers have also been made in-charge of one district each for overall coordination and fieldlevel monitoring. These officers have been selected fromsubordinate/ attached! autonomous organizations/PSUs etc.of Ministry of Agriculture & farmers Welfare. In Washimdistrict various activities to promote best practice and In order to review the quarterly progress of NABARDenhancing agriculture income are being undertaken with the funded promotion of farmer's producer company scheme,help of KVK Washim during Abhiyan period. As per the project implementation and monitoring committee meetingplan total 12 points will be cover i.e. Distribution of Soil was held on 12 Dec. 2018 under the Chairmanship ofHealth Cards, Distribution of Mini kits of Rabi crop, FMD Mr.Vijay Khandare DDM and in presence of Deputy BranchVaccination, Vaccination for eradication ofPPR in Sheep & Manager SBI Mr. Atul Debaje and Branch Manager Bank ofGoat,AI, Training on diversification, Organizing awareness India Mr.Rahul Khandate. On behalf of KVKcampaign for PMFBY, Demonstration of Micro Mr.S.K.Deshmukh resource POPI and Mr.R.A.Nitnawareirrigation/integrated cropping system, Distribution of Agri. CEO FPO programe coordinated the meeting. DiginatriesvisitedBDN-708CFLDplotofPigeonpeaIn order to demonstrate latest Pigeon pea productiontechnology on farmers field KVK organized NFSMsponsored Cluster FLD Programme in KVK adopted villageKondala Zamare in Washim Tahsil during Kharif20 18. Total50 demonstrations were organized covering 20 ha area withintroduction of BDN-708 pigeon pea variety under thisprogramme. The field day was organized on the field Mr.Bhagwat Rajaram Bundhe on dated 15.12.2018 which wasinaugurated by Dr.R.L.Kale, Head KVK while Mr. NitinjiIngole Sarpanch presided as a chairperson. Dr.Vikas GaudDr.PDKV, Akola scientist attended the programme as anexpert cum resource person. During the field day all thedignitaries along with participating farmers visited to BDN-708 CFLD plot of Pigeon pea. During this field visitMr.R.S.Daware SMS interacted with participating farmerson the aspect of technological module implemented in thedemonstration with focus on varietal character, soil testbased INM and Integrated Pest Management in Pigeon pea.During technical session of the field day Dr. Gaud scientistpresented the module of pigeon pea production technologywith technological gaps in adoption and express thesatisfaction towards KVK for organizing ideal CFLD inPigeon pea. In his further technical guidance he urged theparticipating farmers to adopt the module implemented theFLD on their field and also work as a technology transferagent for further horizontal spread of the technology. Mr.S.K.Deshmukh SMS Extension Education interacted withthe farmers on the aspect of soil testing. Mr. Nitin Ingole andBhagwat Bundhe shared their experiences of Pigeon peaproduction.Cont.From Pg. No.1 turmeric cultivation and PHT, while EPCMahindra Mr. Kumbhare shared about drip irrigation systemmaintenance and Mr. Kiran Kolhe about water and fertilitymanagement. Later KVK experts answered the questionraised by the farmer. In field visit farmers visited Agriexhibition stall at programme site, various demonstrationunit and organic block etc. KVK Expert, T.S.Deshmukh,D.N.Ingole and Miss. Watane coordinated the field visit.

PARTICIPATION IN AGRO TECH 2018 AT DR. PDKV, AKOALA

MemberofparlementHon.Mr.SanjayDhotrevisitedKVK StallDr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth has jointlyorganized Agrotech 2018 a State Level AgricultureExhibition at University Sports Ground, Akola during 27-31Dec. 2018 with the objectives were to demonstrate newagriculture technologies, interact with farmers, to resolvetheir issues of farming practices, safe use of pesticides andsoil health management. Besides various stalls of Universityand Research Stations near about 250 stalls of other institutelike KVK, SHGs and innovative farmers were arranged atexhibition site. Our KVK also arranged a stall with livedemonstrations and technical know how about Hydroponic,Silage, Azolla production and NADEP compost technologymodel, fish farming model, energy saving devices like saraicooker and zero energy cool chamber attracted mostly in bigsize. Apart from this women friendly. farm implements,oraganic farming practices, silage bag for green fodder,various swamini branded food item and expert guidance tovisiting farmers were encouraged to seek information in theKVK stall. KVK Promoted SHGs of village Linga Kotwaland Kamaji village has also arranged separate stall for saleof their produce. During exhibition period many ofdignitaries along with Member of Parliament Honorable Mr.Sanjay Dhotre, Hon. Vice Chancellor Dr. Vilas Bhale werevisited to KVK stall and appreciated the efforts done byKVK team. Entire KVK team took efforts for the event.
