Gold Cup Late Penalty Conditions Horses which are not subscribed by 7th February, 2020 shall still be eligible for entry provided that the unpaid nomination of Bds. $500.00, the unpaid Pre-Entry of Bds. $1,500.00 a late penalty of Bds. $4,500.00 in addition to the entry fee of Bds. $3,000.00, is paid at the time of entry. Preference to start shall be given to all horses which are not subject to the above late penalty conditions.
NO REFUND OF NOMINATIONS, PRE-ENTRY FEE OR PENALTY FEE WILL BE MADE.
Note:
1. Nomination fees, Pre-Entry fee and Penalty fee are non-refundable.
2. Entry fees will only be refunded in respect of all entrants not selected to run due to excess entries.
3. 50% of the late penalty fee (Bds. $2250.00) will only refunded in respect of all entrants which
subscribed at the late penalty stage and are not selected to run due to excess entries.
4. Nomination fees, Pre-Entry Fees, Penalties and Entry fees are non-refundable for horses which fail a pre-race Veterinary examination and are subsequently deemed ineligible to participate in any race for which it has been entered to run.
5. All payments are to be received by the Barbados Turf Club on or before the stated dates and times at its Registered Office, The Grandstand, The Garrison, St. Michael, Barbados.
3. PROCEDURES, ELIGIBILITY, SELECTION
There shall be a maximum of Twelve (12) runners in the race.
The Barbados Turf Club reserves the right to refuse nominations for any horse(s) whose performances, handicap ratings, Beyer speed figures, or other factors as determined by the Barbados Turf Club, render the horse unsuitable for participation in a Gr. I.- Barbados - International race.
The Gold Cup Handicap Rating Committee will issue and publish new Gold Cup Ratings for all horses which have been nominated to participate in this race. Horses shall be ranked in accordance with their Gold Cup Rating.
Horses with the lowest Gold Cup Rating will be eliminated first sequentially in the published ascending order.
4. DECLARATION
Declaration for the race shall be on or before Thursday 5th March, 2020 at 10:00AM.
The Classification Committee shall announce and publish the final rankings by or before 4:00pm on the day of entries (Wednesday 26th February, 2020).
5. PRIZES
A Gold Cup and US$60,000.00 (BDS$120,000.00) to the winner

6. TRANSPORT ASSISTANCE
The Barbados Turf Club will assist with the cost of transporting horse(s) to Barbados specifically for the race with an amount of US$1,000.00. This subsidy shall be available only to the Owner(s) of International horses which actually run in the Barbados Gold Cup race. Horses which are deemed unfit to run by the Club’s Veterinary Officer or that have received a report of a positive test for any prohibitive substance(s) and are subsequently disqualified by the Stewards of the Club shall be deemed ineligible to receive this subsidy.
7. GENERAL
In order for a horse to be eligible to take entry in Barbados it must:-
be registered with the Barbados Turf Club
have a Gold Cup Rating and;
comply with local quarantine, vaccination and steroid testing requirements.

Conditions governing the “Elimination of Excess Entries” shall not apply to this race. Persons making any payments by cheque or by memorandum authorizing the Barbados Turf Club to debit an account for any of the requisite fees are asked to note the following: In the event that (a) Said cheque is subsequently returned by our Bankers duly stamped “Refer to Drawer” or (b) A Memorandum to debit an existing account with the Barbados Turf Club lacks sufficient funds. The subscription(s) for which the payment was intended shall be deemed null and void, treated as a missed subscription and shall be subject to any and all penalties due at the next subscription stage.

(BRIDGETOWN) Friday January 17th 2020 – The Barbados Turf Club announced that of the seventeen
horses which have been nominated at the first stage of nominations for the 39th running of the SANDY LANE
BARBADOS GOLD CUP, one is from the USA, two out of Trinidad, one from Antigua and three from the
newest racing jurisdiction in the Caribbean, St. Lucia.
Local owners invested in new racing stock in a bid to keep the coveted cup at home. The new horses arrived on
island from the USA on Friday 10th. They are JUNIPERO AVENUE and RISING STAR who will represent
Barbados. Scheduled to arrive in mid-February from the powerful Sir David Seale stable and trained by
Barbadian Saffie Joseph Jnr. 2019 Champion Trainer and current leader at Gulfstream Park is the already highly
favoured RENAISSANCE FROLIC.
