BIRD WATCHING Bhutan is real paradise for birders; the country boasts around six hundred and seventy five species of birds. The most endangered and vulnerable Black Necked Crane is the most fa- mous for the visitors. There are ten bird species in Bhutan identified as glob- ally threatened by Bird Life International. These include the Black-necked Crane, one of the World’s rarest and least known cranes, the Rufous-necked Hornbill, Blyth’s Tragopan, and Blyth’s King fisher, Ward’s Tro- gon, the chestnut-breasted partridge, the white-bellied heron, Wood snipe and Pallas’s Fish Eagle. Some other bird species seen are Ospreys, Waders, and wide varieties of Ducks, Snow Pigeons, Rose finch- es and Accentors. Beside that, you can spot Minivets, Barbets, Sunbirds, Warblers, Cuckoos and Yuhinas. Bhutan-The Youngest Constitutional Democratic Monarchy

Sandwiched between the two giant countries, China in the north and India in the south; known to the out-side world as the Last Shangri-la on the earth, Bhu-tan with its unique culture and tradition maintained its independence and true identity. Since 1907 until the beginning of 2008, Bhutan remained as a Monarchy has adopted the changes becoming the youngest con-stitutional democratic monarchy in March 2008 setting a landmark achievement in the history of Bhutan.

People

The Bhutanese appreciated for the soft spoken, hos-pitable, welcoming, friendly, and humorous charac-ters to the outside world are by nature, strong and enthusiastic. They wear colorful intricate dresses; men wear so called Gho, a long robe tied around the waist by a slim fabric belt and women wear Kira, an ankle length wrap-around the waist fastened by silver brooches called koma.

Religion and Culture

Unlike other countries of the world, Bhutan has its unique culture and tradition powerful enough to uphold and portray its own identity. The state religion being Buddhism, Bhutanese are considered compassionate, pious, selfless, kind, and generous.
