We are living in an age of momentum, progress, and innovation, where the keys
to success lie in your ability to master new knowledge and ideas. As economic,
social, and technological changes gather pace, you must acquire knowledge
and skills on a continuous basis so that you can live and work meaningfully
in a knowledge-based society. Quality Career-based Technical Education
(CTE) can be the key to your success by developing knowledge of science and
technology in a broad occupational scope requiring technical and professional
competenciesandspecificoccupationalskills.
An important element of our CTE focus at IAT is the Industrial Internship Training
(IIT) program which provides students opportunities for work experience in addition
to academic study requirements. This training allows you to apply classroom knowledge
and theory to real-life practice in the workplace, giving you a truly complete education.
Students who have already participated in the IIT program agree that it was well worth
the time they invested in it, and they advise future participants to take full advantage of
the opportunities it provides. Indeed, IIT may be the best real-life work experience you
can have as you plan your future career!
This IIT Handbook contains useful information to help you during the training and as
you move toward your career goals, so keep it handy and refer to it often! However,
don’t forget to consult your Career Counselors, as there is no substitute for the personal
guidancetheycanofferyou.
Your IIT internship can help you make a successful start in your career by allowing you to
gain practical experience related to your studies and to establish a network of professional
contacts. So, do your best in this assignment and give your employer your full cooperation,
support,andeffortasyoulearnasmuchaspossibleaboutthereal-lifeworldofwork!
