Additional ResourcesThese documents contain additional information concerning related products from Rockwell Automation.
You can view or download publications at http://www.rockwellautomation.com/literature/. To order paper copies of technical documentation, contact your local Allen-Bradley distributor or Rockwell Automation sales representative.
Input Power Circuit-protection SpecificationsThese fuses and Allen-Bradley circuit breakers are recommended for use with 2098-DSD-xxx and 2098-DSD-HVxxx servo drives.
System Mounting RequirementsThere are several things to consider when preparing to mount the Ultra3000 drives:
• The Ultra3000 drives must be enclosed in a grounded conductive enclosure offering protection as defined in standard EN 60529 (IEC 529) to IP22 in order to comply with UL and CE requirements. A NEMA 4X enclosure exceeds these requirements providing protection to IP66.
• The ambient temperature where you install the Ultra3000 drives must not exceed 55 °C (131 °F).• Install the Ultra3000 drives vertically on the panel (see Minimum Clearance Requirements on page 3 for mounting orientation).• Install the panel on a flat, rigid, vertical surface that is not subjected to shock, vibration, moisture, oil mist, dust, or corrosive vapors.• Maintain minimum clearances (see Minimum Clearance Requirements on page 3 for proper airflow, easy module access, and proper cable bend radius).• Ultra3000 drives can operate at elevations to 1000 m (3280 ft) without derating. However, the continuous current rating must be de-rated by 3% for each additional 300 m (984 ft) up to 3000 m (9842 ft). Consult your local Allen-Bradley
representative prior to operating above 3000 m (9842 ft).

ATTENTION: Identifies information about practices or circumstances that can lead to personal injury or death, property damage, or economic loss. Attentions help you identify a hazard, avoid a hazard, and recognize the consequences.
ATTENTION: Only qualified personnel familiar with servo drives and associated machinery should plan or implement the installation, startup, and subsequent maintenance of the system. Failure to comply can result in personal injury and/or equipment damage.
SHOCK HAZARD: Labels may be on or inside the equipment (for example, drive or motor) to alert people that dangerous voltage may be present.
ATTENTION: An incorrectly applied or installed drive can result in component damage or a reduction in product life. Wiring or application errors such as undersizing the motor, incorrect or inadequate AC supply, or excessive surrounding-air temperatures can result in malfunction of the system.
IMPORTANT Identifies information that is critical for successful application and understanding of the product.ATTENTION: Drive must not be installed in an area where the ambient atmosphere contains volatile or corrosive gas, vapors, or dust. If the drive is not going to be installed immediately, it must be stored in a corrosive atmosphere.

ATTENTION: Do not use circuit protection devices on the output of an AC drive as an isolating disconnect switch or motor overload device. These devices are designed to operate on sine-wave voltage and the drive PWM waveform does not allow it to operate properly. As a result, damage to the device occurs.
IMPORTANT Follow the wire size information as shown in Power Wiring Requirements on page 3 and select the fuse for the appropriate temperature rating of the wire. Auxiliary input fuses must not exceed 13A.
ATTENTION: Plan the installation of your system so that you can perform all cutting, drilling, tapping, and welding with the system removed from the enclosure. Because the system is of the open type construction, be careful to keep any metal debris from falling into it. Metal debris or other foreign matter can become lodged in the circuitry, which can result in damage to components.

Ultra3000 Digital Servo Drives 3
Minimum Clearance Requirements
Weight Specifications
Leakage Current• Ultra3000 drives produce leakage current in the protective-earthing conductor that exceeds 3.5 mA AC and/or
10 mA DC. The minimum size of the protective-earthing (grounding) conductor that is used in the application must comply with local safety regulations for high protective-earthing conductor current equipment.
• Ultra3000 drives produce DC current in the protective-earthing conductor and can reduce the ability of a residual current device (RCD) or residual current monitor (RCM) of type A or AC to provide protection for the drive and other equipment in the installation.
Short-circuit Current Rating
Branch Circuit Short-circuit ProtectionIntegral solid-state short circuit protection does not provide branch circuit protection. Branch circuit protection must be provided in accordance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and any additional local codes.
Motor Overload ProtectionThis servo drive uses solid-state motor overload protection that operates in accordance with UL requirements. Motor overload protection is provided by algorithms (thermal memory) that predict actual motor temperature that is based on operating conditions as long as control power is continuously applied. However, when control power is removed, thermal memory is not retained. In addition to thermal memory protection, this drive provides an input for an external temperature sensor/thermistor device, which is embedded in the motor, to support the UL requirement for motor overload protection. Some motors that are supported by this drive do not contain temperature sensors/thermistors; therefore, motor overload protection against excessive consecutive motor-overloads with power cycling is not supported. This servo drive meets the following UL requirements for solid-state overload protection.
Refer to your servo-drive user manual for the interconnect diagram that illustrates the wiring between your motor and drive.
Power Wiring RequirementsWire should be copper with 75 °C (167 °F) minimum rating, unless otherwise noted. Phasing of main AC power is arbitrary and earth ground connection is required for safe and proper operation.

Just In Time (JIT) or Off Set (OS)?
Use these guidelines to determine if your publication should be JIT (just in time/print on demand) or if it would be more economical to print OS (offset/on a press). OS print jobs require an RFQ (Request For Quote) in US. If your job fits into the “Either” category, an RFQ is recommended, but not required. In the US, RA Strategic Sourcing will discourage or reject RFQs for jobs that fall within the JIT category. Guidelines differ for black & white and color printing, so be sure to check the correct tables.
