First Reading

Isaiah 2:1-5

The Lord will gather all nations in eternal peace to form the kingdom of God.Đức Chúa quy tụ muôn dân cho hưởng hoà bình vĩnh cửu trong Nước Thiên Chúa.

The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

Đây là điều mà ông I-sai-a, con ông A-mốc, đã được thấy về Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem.

In the days to come the mountain of the Temple of the Lord shall tower above the mountains and be lifted higher than the hills.

All the nations will stream to it, peoples without number will come to it; and they will say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths;

Dân dân lũ lượt đưa nhau tới, 3nước nước dập dìu kéo nhau đi.Rằng : “Đến đây, ta cùng lên núi Đức Chúa, lên Nhà Thiên Chúa của Gia-cóp, để Người dạy ta biết lối của Người, và để ta bước theo đường Người chỉ vẽ.

since the Law will go out from Zion, and the oracle of the Lord from Jerusalem.’He will wield authority over the nations and adjudicate between many peoples; these will hammer their swords into ploughshares,

Vì từ Xi-on, thánh luật ban xuống, từ Giê-ru-sa-lem, lời Đức Chúa phán truyền. Người sẽ đứng làm trọng tài giữa các quốc gia và phân xử cho muôn dân tộc.Họ sẽ đúc gươm đao thành cuốc thành cày,rèn giáo mác nên liềm nên hái.

their spears into sickles.Nation will not lift sword against nation, there will be no more training for war.

Dân này nước nọ sẽ không còn vung kiếm đánh nhau, và thiên hạ thôi học nghề chinh chiến.

O House of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

This is the word of the Lord.

Hãy đến đây, nhà Gia-cóp hỡi, ta cùng đi, nhờ ánh sáng Đức Chúa soi đường !”

Đó là lời Chúa.

Second Reading

St Paul to the Romans 13:1-14

The time has come, our salvation is near”.Ngày Thiên Chúa cứu độ chúng ta đã gần hơn.

You know ‘the time’ has come: you must wake up now: our salvation is even nearer than it was when we were converted.

Thưa anh em, anh em biết chúng ta đang sống trong thời nào. Đã đến lúc anh em phải thức dậy, vì hiện nay ngày Thiên Chúa cứu độ chúng ta đã gần hơn trước kia, khi chúng ta mới tin đạo.

The night is almost over, it will be daylight soon - let us give up all the things we prefer to do under cover of the dark; let us arm ourselves and appear in the light.

Đêm sắp tàn, ngày gần đến. Vậy chúng ta hãy loại bỏ những việc làm đen tối, và cầm lấy vũ khí của sự sáng để chiến đấu.

Let us live decently as people do in the daytime: no drunken orgies, no promiscuity or licentiousness, and no wrangling or jealousy.

Chúng ta hãy ăn ở cho đứng đắn như người đang sống giữa ban ngày: không chè chén say sưa, không chơi bời dâm đãng, cũng không cãi cọ ghen tương.

Let your armour be the Lord Jesus Christ; forget about satisfying your bodies with all their cravings.

Khi ấy, Đức Giê-su nói với các môn đệ rằng : “Thời ông Nô-ê thế nào, thì ngày Con Người quang lâm cũng sẽ như vậy. Vì trong những ngày trước nạn hồng thuỷ, thiên hạ vẫn ăn uống, cưới vợ lấy chồng,

right up to the day Noah went into the ark, and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept all away. It will be like this when the Son of Man comes.

mãi cho đến ngày ông Nô-ê vào tàu. Họ không hay biết gì, cho đến khi nạn hồng thuỷ ập tới cuốn đi hết thảy. Ngày Con Người quang lâm cũng sẽ như vậy.

Then of two men in the fields one is taken, one left; of two women at the millstone grinding, one is taken, one left. ‘So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming.

Bấy giờ, hai người đàn ông đang làm ruộng, thì một người được đem đi, một người bị bỏ lại ; hai người đàn bà đang kéo cối xay, thì một người được đem đi, một người bị bỏ lại.

You may be quite sure of this that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house.

“Vậy anh em hãy canh thức, vì anh em không biết ngày nào Chúa của anh em sẽ đến. Anh em hãy biết điều này : nếu chủ nhà biết vào canh nào kẻ trộm sẽ đến, hẳn ông phải canh thức, không để nó khoét vách nhà mình đâu.

Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

Người là Thiên Chúa bởi Thiên Chúa, ánh sáng bởi ánh sáng, Thiên Chúa thật bởi Thiên Chúa thật, được sinh ra mà không phải được tạo thành, đồng bản thể với Ðức Chúa Cha, nhờ Người mà muôn vật được tạo thành.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,(all bow)by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

Vì loài người chúng ta và để cứu rỗi chúng ta, Người đã từ trời xuống thế(cúi đầu) bởi phép Ðức Chúa Thánh Thần, Người đã nhập thể trong lòng Trinh Nữ Maria, và đã làm người.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.

Người chịu đóng đinh vào thập giá vì chúng ta, thời quan Phongxiô Philatô; Người chịu khổ hình và mai táng,

On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
