RN Shortage:

• Leveling of RN supply between 2005 and 2010, then decreasing over following 10 years

• Continued increase in demand through 2020

• Results in an increasing shortage:

2005 = 220,0002010 = 410,0002015 = 680,0002020 = 1,010,000

Not Enough Nurses!

PCP Shortage:

• Less severe than the RN shortage

• Approximate shortage of 55,000 from 2000-2015,

increasing to 66,000 by 2020
