Matrimony Consult the parish priest at least one year before your
wedding date.
Rosary Recitation of the Rosary is held every Thursday
at 7:00 p.m. in the church.
First Friday Adoration Adoration is held from 9am - 10am
on the first Friday of every month. All are welcome to join us
in worshiping our Lord.
Devotions
We learn how to be good disciples from others who
follow Jesus faithfully, who contribute to the good of
all out of the surplus with which God has blessed them.
The gospel holds up the poor widow as a model for the
total self-giving of the true disciple. We need but look
around us to find strong models for true discipleship.
Nor is it a matter of these disciple-models giving large
sums of money. Giving a bit of time each week for the
good of another, participating in at least some parish
activities beyond going to Mass and contributing to the
collection basket, signing up when volunteers are
needed are all ways of contributing a little, which
makes a huge difference in overall parish life and
community life. Even “something” can be our “all”.
So, are we true disciples?

Social Justice
As is so often the case, Jesus calls us to see things from the
viewpoint of the poor. Catholic Social Teaching talks about
“a fundamental option for the poor.” Part of this option in-
volves more than charity to those in need. It also involves
learning from the poor, from the widows in the two readings
today, so as to be able to create a justice society with our val-
ues in balance. The depth of faith and freedom about posses-
sions shown by the two women today has much to teach us as
individuals and a society.

ant (staples, rivets, crazy glue, ten-penny nails, etc.) to secure
your envelope. Doing so defeats the purpose of the easy open
feature of the envelope. Also, please indicate the amount of
your offering in the space provided on the envelope. This
speeds the processing and assures greater accuracy. All infor-
mation is held in the strictest confidence. Your help and co-
operation is greatly appreciated and will help make our jobs
much easier.

Diocese News
November 8
This week Mark tells the story of how Jesus, upon seeing the
poor widow put money into the treasury, notes to his disciples
that this poor widow gives from her poverty, which is more
valuable than those who give from their wealth. How do we
plan our giving? Is our giving a sacrifice or whatever we have
left over? What would Jesus say about the way we share with
others? Bring It Home this week by thinking about how you
can give from your poverty, not just your wealth.
Are you Being Called to God? Recall today’s gospel reading: “Jesus sat down opposite the
treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the
treasury. . . A poor widow also came and put in two small
coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he
said to them ‘Amen I say to you, this poor widow put in more
than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have
all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her
poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.’”
If you feel called to join the countless women who have given
their “all” to Christ and the Church throughout the centuries
through the consecrated life, please call or write Fr. David
Kelley, Diocesan Director of Priestly and Religious Voca-
tions (302-573-3113; vocations@cdow.org). And check out
our website: www.CalledByTheLord.com.

Christmas approaching, remember the first time you met your
beloved's family. Our family of origin greatly influences our
behavior - for good or for ill. Honor the good in your be-
