Reflection Let us gather to strengthen and support each other this Christmas season. God comes to us in
‘carne,’ in flesh, to share our struggles, experience our temptations and battles. God is Immanuel, with us, and God rejoices in us. In the first reading from the vigil tonight, Isaiah reminds us
“As a bridegroom rejoices in his bride, so shall your God rejoice in you.” We are saved! We are free! We are deeply loved.

Service in Leadership”
The faculty of Sacred Heart Catholic School visited Fairgreen Assisted Living Facility on Wayne Avenue, NSB on Wednesday evening, December 13, 2017. The teachers brought gifts to all 31 residents of the very beautiful facility and sang Christmas carols. Fulfilling this work of mercy is such a gratifying experience and the teachers were truly touched and grateful for the 0pportunity to serve.
The faculty and staff of SHS would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
“Living the Spirit of Service”
Sacred Heart Catholic School students hosted a brunch for members of the CCW and Knights of Columbus on Wednesday, December 13th in the Social Hall. These organizations/ministries support the school all year round. The school felt the need to give back to them and on Wednesday, a brunch was provided while two $50 and five $10 gift cards donated by the Cintron Family were raffled. The school also donated three Spirit shirts for the raffle. Food catered by WTCafe was enjoyed by everybody. The children provided entertainment by singing Christmas songs, played the ukulele, and one student who is one of the members of the cast of Nutcracker gave an endearing ballet number. The school would like to thank Mrs. Kathy Stanley for decorating the hall and helping out as a chaperone. Likewise, a big thank you goes to Mrs. Victoria Cintron for the decorations.! Pastor Fr. Tom Burke attended & Fr. Aldrin Nunes, led us in prayer.

St. Gerard’s Small Church Community
Groups Welcoming New Members
St. Gerard’s Small Church Community would like to invite you to join us to gather and share the gospel in fellowship, give thanks for our many blessings, grow in understanding of God’s love for us, and learn to see God in our everyday lives. Groups gather at church or in facilitators homes for approximately 2 hours a week. The critical aspect of belonging to a small group is to love GOD with all our heart and to love people as our-selves. Come experience caring people who cheer others on. Receive encouragement from group mem-bers to grow spiritually, and receive support during difficult times in your life. Experience people who are excited to see you when you arrive at church, and be with people who are “safe” to talk to. All are welcome. Won’t you give it a try!
Listed below are the names of the facilitators, the day and time of their meeting, and their telephone number. For further information, please call the individual who facilitates a meeting that would be convenient for you.

Heavenly Father, We could never thank our military men and women enough for their cou-rageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people. Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank and love them better. Keep and protect these heroes and their
families, in the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the
same Lord . . . To each person the manifestation of the spirit is given for the
common good.” Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. It takes the help of many people serving in a variety of different liturgical ministries to help the liturgy flow smoothly and enable the participation of the assembly. At the present time, there is a serious need for volunteers in all ministries at St. Gerard’s. We invite you to prayerfully reflect on the gifts God has given you and consider volunteering your talents for one of our ministries.
Training: Training is provided to help you get started in all the listed ministries.
Scheduling: Liturgical ministers are scheduled at the Mass time of their preference as often as fits their schedule and are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled Mass begins.
Contact: Please see the list of ministries below. Call the leader of the ministry you are interested in to volunteer or for further information.

St. Gerard's Memorial Brick Program
We are excited to offer the opportunity for you to have an engraved brick embedded in front of our Holy Family statue on the path to St. Gerard's. Many use the engraved bricks to memorialize a loved one. This program is being run by the St. Vincent de Paul Conference.
Grace Albanese is the program coordinator (386)427-6682.
Profits will help our neighbors in need. The engraved bricks cost $50; ones with a logo cost $10 more. Forms with instructions are available on the bulletin board in the vestibule of St. Gerard's.
ALUMINUM POP TAB COLLECTION
The POP TAB collection for 2017 – 2018, is heading for another banner year. With the picnic season and outdoor activi-ties somewhat behind us now, we will soon be preparing to gather in family and friends for good times and catch up. With all the wonderful homemade foods to enjoy, you’ll need something to wash them down with. So, if the
libation of your choice has a POP TAB, please save it for the Ronald McDonald Houses. Thank you. See the picture of last year’s bounty in the vestibule of
St. Gerard. We did good.
