4.1. Definition

A social networking is an online service, platform, or site that focuses on facilitating the building of social networks or social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections.

In these webs, you would be able to show everyone your hobbies, thoughts, favorite music. Also follow your favorite actor, bands and see what’s going on!

4.2.Evolution

Social networks have been around for about 10 years. In the past there were communities, forums and chat services. Today, the world most famous Social Networks are Facebook, Google and Twitter. But almost 9 years ago, MySpace or Hi5 were the new mode.

So, What make them so addictive?

Most of these webs have new apps for making them more addictive and easier to use, of course, following the new technologies that are coming out these days such as the use of the mobile phone more often.

4.3.Characteristics

We can say that there are five specific characteristics that differentiate a Social Network from a normal website.

4.3.1. Used-Based

Online social networks are built and directed by users. It would be nothing without them (empty forums, chat rooms…) The information it’s deleted by anyone.

4.3.2. Interactive

Websites like Facebook are filled with network-based gaming applications, where you can play poker together or challenge a friend to a chess tournament.

4.3.3. Community-Driven

In these webs, we’ll be able to find some ‘communities’ o social groups, where held people with the same beliefs, hobbies, nationality, thoughts, work…

4.3.4. Relationship

The more relationships that you have within the network, the more established you are toward the center of that network.

More important you seem

4.3.5. Emotion Over Content

The social network actually provides users with emotional security and a sense that no matter what happens, their friends are within easy reach. People are finding that the ability to jump online and communicate directly with a circle of friends provides a great deal of support.

4.4. Tendencies

Just mention two important trends.1.Trend: The rise of the social mobile. This

technological development, make people more addictive to Social Networks. Because they’d be able to check their webpage everywhere and whenever they want (if you have internet on your mobile or Wi-Fi pass of course).

2.Trend: Social Sharing. Ideas, thoughs...are a powerful force in social media. People use to post their opinions about some global events, news, history, just to interact to other users. Sometimes to discuss or agree.

In conclusion, it seems like Social Networks are evolving more and more. So, maybe these concept won’t disapear in a few year later. It has become a part of our common life.
